Chapter 26: The Wild Boar Den Has Been Disrupted!
As soon as the words were spoken, the noisy educated youth point fell silent.
Even Fu Haitang, who had been fighting with Zhou Yun, pushed her away and exclaimed, “My brother is back?”
At this moment, the Yao family members also came out of their house.
“Yes, they’re at the foot of the mountain. We need more people to come over,” a villager said, panting heavily.
When Yao Simeng heard this, her face turned pale: this sounded too much like what she had heard before!
Back then, a group of people had set off with confidence to the mountains, only to return with heavy losses, many of them needing to be carried back.
Something must have gone wrong!
Yao San’s wife asked, “Did they catch the wild boars?”
Just as the villager was about to answer, Yao Simeng, feeling anxious, fixed fierce gaze on her and said, “Wild boars, wild boars! You only think about wild boars! Why don’t you ask if my brother is alright?”
She didn’t hold back, saying, “If something happens to my brother, you are the culprit!”
Being publicly scolded like this made Yao San’s wife tremble with anger.
“I don’t understand why you always think something will happen to Zhenjiang, and what right do you have to blame me?”
She wiped her tears and continued, “I am his wife; even if you don’t treat me as an elder, I’m still older than you! Is this how you show your upbringing?”
In this family, only Yao Zhenjiang was wholeheartedly supportive of her; did she really intend to harm her own husband?
Previously, it was her father who forced all three sons to go up the mountain to hunt wild boars and sign up.
Later, Yao Zhenbei and Yao Zhendong had only given up after Yao Simeng insisted on not letting them go.
She had hoped that with Fu Jingchen and his father skilled in shooting, her husband would go as well.
Yao Simeng’s words made it seem as if she had deliberately sent her husband to his doom!
Ever since Yao Zhenjiang had decided to go up the mountain, she had considered herself an enemy, and she hadn’t been in a good mood since yesterday.
Faced with her fierce glare, Yao San’s wife’s heart sank.
The educated youths hadn’t thought about this either.
Having just witnessed the commotion between Jiang Yuman and Zhou Yun, they were now witnessing the drama between the Yao sisters-in-law.
Family disputes should not be aired publicly.
Seeing the scene, Yao Dajie and Yao Erjie quickly tried to mediate: “We’re all family; why do we need to fight? They haven’t returned yet, so let’s go to the foot of the mountain and take a look.”
Yao San’s wife wiped her tears and didn’t even glance at Yao Simeng, quickly heading toward the foot of the mountain.
As she walked away, the other Yao family members followed closely behind.
Jiang Yuman and the others also joined in.
Yao Simeng stayed behind, stubbornly asking the villager who had come to inform everyone, “Were there any injuries among those who went up to the mountain?”
The villager thought for a moment, “It was dark, so I didn’t see clearly, but I saw them dragging something.” Even if there were injuries, it should be minor.
He was busy returning to call for others, so how could he take the time to check on everyone?
After saying this, he hurried out of the educated youth point to call for more people!
Leaving Yao Simeng in a state of despair.
This time, she couldn’t be mistaken!
Yao Simeng recalled that in the previous incident, many had been injured and could only be dragged down with ropes!
Since they mentioned dragging things, and it was dark, there must be injured people among them.
Without hesitation, she urged Yao mother to call for the barefoot doctor.
At that moment, Jiang Yuman and the others were already walking toward the back mountain.
Before reaching the foot of the mountain, they saw a group of people coming from that direction.
As they got closer, Jiang Yuman spotted Fu Jingchen and Fu Wangshan at the forefront, both carrying rifles over their shoulders.
Behind them were the other men who had gone up the mountain, all of them are looking unharmed and wearing relaxed smiles.
When she looked further back, she noticed a long line of wild boars being dragged along by ropes—some big, some small. There must have been at least twenty of them!
The villagers following behind had never seen such a scene before.
They rubbed their eyes, confirming that they weren’t hallucinating, and then they erupted in excitement!
It was wild boar!
Yao Zhendong and Yao Zhenbei, who were also in shock, couldn’t understand why they had been told that hunting wild boars was dangerous.
Why was everyone so thrilled? Why were there no injuries among them?
And with so many wild boars laid out on the ground, how much meat would they each get?
At that moment, Fu Jingchen spotted Jiang Yuman and quickly walked over to her, frowning, and asked “What are you doing out here in the dark?”
His concern for her safety was clear.
Standing tall, with deep-set eyes and a rifle in hand, he exuded an undeniable sense of strength.
Jiang Yuman’s eyes sparkled with excitement as she exclaimed, “How did you manage to catch so many?”
She had anticipated that Fu Jingchen would hunt wild boars but hadn’t expected him to catch this many!
From the looks of it, they must have wiped out an entire den of troublesome wild boars.
Fu Wangshan explained, “Jingchen’s shooting skills haven’t regressed.
He then turned to Fu’s mother and Fu Haitang, “It’s late; you should wait for us inside. It’s dangerous out here.”
As he spoke, he cast a glance at Jiang Yuman.
“Dad, the path was clear on the way here. I just wanted to see you as soon as possible,” Jiang Yuman replied.
Fu Wangshan didn’t say anything further.
Next to them, Yao Zhenjiang was animatedly describing the events to his wife:
“Wife, you have no idea how amazing Jingchen and Uncle Shan are; they’re practically sharpshooters! Their movements were incredibly smooth. One shot per boar, and once the gunshots rang out, there wasn’t a single wild boar left standing!”
He spoke with enthusiasm, his admiration evident, “When we saw how it was going, we quickly tossed over the rifles! By the time the shooting stopped, there were no wild boars left!”
Every man has a sharpshooter dream, and now knowing that such experts were right beside them made them all excited.
The way he referred to Fu Jingchen had changed noticeably.
Yao Zhenjiang’s voice was loud enough for Jiang Yuman to hear.
She couldn’t help but look at Fu Jingchen, only to find him gazing back at her.
Jiang Yuman admitted she had a weakness for strong men.
At that moment, she sensed her gaze on Fu Jingchen had softened into something almost watery.
While the atmosphere was warm and intimate on one side, Yao San’s wife looked at Yao Zhenjiang, who was full of excitement, and initially felt happy, but later couldn’t hold back her tears.
“Wife, you should be happy about all these wild boars being caught. Why are you crying?” Yao Zhenjiang was startled and quickly quieted down.
Yao San’s wife was not one to hold back her feelings; she immediately recounted everything that had happened earlier.
“Did she really say that to you?” Yao Zhenjiang’s expression darkened upon hearing this.
“Is there any doubt?” Yao San’s wife wiped her tears and said, “Thankfully, you weren’t hurt. Otherwise, we would be left with nothing, and your sister might have kicked us out of the house!”
