Chapter 1: If Nothing Unexpected Happens, It Should Be an Unexpected Event
It was 1 AM.
Qu Wanwan lay on the edge of her bed, staring at her phone with a face full of frustration and helplessness. She muttered angrily, “What the hell is this? It’s bad enough that someone even bothers to read this trash, and it ended with such a terrible cliffhanger. Did the author lose their mind and shake their brain to mush? Are they filled with nonsense from some endless reincarnation cycle? If I had this much time, why not watch some sweet boys’ love drama? Why am I wasting my time watching some female protagonist collect so many men? Ugh, I can’t believe the ending is this bad. If I were the female lead, I would be all over this. Surrounded by so many handsome men, heh heh…”
Saying that, Qu Wanwan casually grabbed a bottle of XO from the nightstand, chugged a few gulps, and immediately felt a burn in her stomach. The nightstand and the floor were already littered with discarded liquor bottles. As the alcohol took effect, Qu Wanwan didn’t care about the burning sensation in her stomach; all she wanted was to sleep. Her carefree attitude led her not to go to the hospital…
When she groggily woke up, Qu Wanwan found herself in an unfamiliar place, wearing unfamiliar clothes and staring at an unfamiliar face. “Get up, we’ll be punished with kneeling again if we’re late and that bitch Ling Wanqing gets her way.”
“Oh, hmm? Ling Wanqing?” Qu Wanwan suddenly felt dizzy, and unfamiliar yet familiar memories flooded her mind:
There was a peach tree, battered by the wind, sun, rain, and the harsh cold. Day after day, year after year, until one day, a woman, so beautiful that she could bring down a nation, gently raised her jade-like hand and touched a peach branch, injecting her warm and gentle celestial energy into it. The branch grew stronger and more vibrant, its blossoms blooming even more brilliantly. She smiled and said to the tree, “May you always bloom, never fading.” Then she left, leaving only the fleeting glance and the receding silhouette…
Time flew by, and years later, the branch that had been touched by that woman ascended to immortality, becoming Qu Wanwan. She was just a low-level little immortal, sweeping the Yaochi (Jade Pool), absorbing its spiritual energy to cultivate, a dull, boring, and tedious existence.
Qu Wanwan, still in a daze, cast a cleaning spell and followed a small immortal girl toward the Yaochi.
As she walked, confusion filled Qu Wanwan’s mind. “Didn’t I just drink too much and go to sleep? Am I dreaming?”
“You’re not dreaming.”
“Who! Who’s talking?!” Qu Wanwan looked around but couldn’t find anyone except the little immortal girl from earlier.
“Don’t look around. I’m inside your head.”
“In my head? Damn, there’s something growing in my brain!” T-T
“I’m not a tumor, I’m the system. You’re currently in the world of the novel Qian Yi Jue.”
“!!! WTF! How did I end up in a novel world?!”
System: “You died due to alcohol poisoning.”
“T-T I’m already at this age, and I’m dead? I haven’t played enough games, haven’t tasted all the good food, and haven’t seen all the beautiful places in my country! Waaa…”
System: “If you complete the tasks assigned by me, you can exchange for the ‘Nine Turns Rebirth Pill’ to be revived and return to your original world.”
Upon hearing this, Qu Wanwan snapped to her senses. If nothing unexpected happens, then maybe something unexpected happened! She transmigrated into the world of the book Qian Yi Jue! Damn, how could such a cliché thing happen to her?! T-T
“Well, if I’m here, I might as well make the best of it. I’m still an immortal, a real little fairy! Haha, I have magic! Hahaha.”
The system remained silent…
“System, how do I exchange for the Nine Turns Rebirth Pill?”
“The system store is open. The Nine Turns Rebirth Pill only requires 1000 task points. The host needs to complete tasks to accumulate task points for exchange.”
“Then release a task,” Qu Wanwan thought to herself.
“Ding—First task: Help Yun Yi defeat the bullies who harm her, a little immortal.” The system issued the task in a deadpan tone.
Got it! Yun Yi, the female lead, started as a bullied little immortal, but later on, she subdued many handsome demon lords. Wow, I’ll be able to see handsome men every day from now on. Just thinking about it gets me excited, hahahahaha.”
The system was once again speechless.
“Wait, who’s identity am I wearing?” Qu Wanwan asked.
“Qu Wanwan.” The system answered emotionlessly.
Qu Wanwan froze. Qu Wanwan! Isn’t she that female protagonist’s good friend, the one who died as cannon fodder after only a few chapters, taking the bullet for the female lead? Why am I so unlucky to end up as a cannon fodder character?! “Ah, why am I a cannon fodder? Why can’t I be the female lead? I want to be surrounded by handsome men, be the center of attention, have all the dogs licking me! Why can’t that be me? T-T”
“Accept reality, host. Please adapt quickly to your identity. Don’t let anyone notice any abnormalities, or you will be forcibly erased!”
“5555555… Damn it, I’m just an innocent girl with social anxiety and a workaholic. Why do I have to take the bullet for the female lead? How painful would that be? I just want to eat, sleep, and live my life. Just kill me with one arrow already. I don’t want to live anymore!”
“Think carefully, host. If you die, I’ll have to wait for the next host. I don’t mind waiting, but if you die without exchanging for the medicine, you’ll really die. The human world is worth it.”
“Fine, I’ll complete the task and run away,” Qu Wanwan said as she tearfully bit her handkerchief.
Meanwhile, a little immortal attendant, Wang Xiaoyue, asked in confusion, “Wanwan, are you okay?”
“I’m fine, 55555…” Qu Wanwan replied, internally feeling like a million alpacas were running through her mind…
The spiritual energy in the sky was dense, especially near the Yaochi. It seemed as if the spiritual energy was about to condense into droplets. Qu Wanwan greedily inhaled the natural energy, her thoughts shifted. Well, with magic, I can do anything. Even though my life is probably doomed here, the human world is worth it. I’ll enjoy it to the fullest.
In the novel, Yun Yi was exposed and was considered a potential threat by the gods. Though they couldn’t openly kill her, they sent a high-ranking god to shoot her with the Divine Arrow of Death, but Qu Wanwan blocked the attack and saved her. Well, she’d just keep her identity hidden, and when the time comes, she’d push the plot along and leave when she was bored. Immortals live forever, after all, so she could bide her time. She was truly a genius.
“The host’s thoughts are unclear. Accept reality. The system task has a time limit. Task one, time limit: three days!”
Qu Wanwan bit her handkerchief, feeling her fantasies shatter. This plan wasn’t going to work. T-T
Plans don’t taste good, huh? I’ll have to work hard. Three days… I haven’t even seen the female lead yet.
Just as she thought of that, Yun Yi appeared.
At the Yaochi, Yun Yi was busy trimming flowers. The woman’s skin was like snow, her long, slender eyebrows, delicate eyelashes, and big, almond-shaped eyes, filled with a smile. Her nose was perfectly shaped, and her lips were naturally red. She looked like a 3D model. She was too beautiful! Elegant, so elegant!
Yun Yi was so stunning that even among a group of immortals, she stood out as the most beautiful. She wore a white and pink cloud robe, her hair styled in an elegant bun. Long black hair cascaded down her back, and her side profile revealed a smooth jawline. With a soft movement, she brushed her hair in front of her and continued to tend to the flowers. Even with the same hairstyle, Yun Yi was the most beautiful among the immortals. Beautiful, so beautiful! Elegant, so elegant!
