#SuLiqianOriginalIllusionWorld Review
One day, Su Liqian was bored and scrolling through Star Art when she accidentally came across a forum.
There had been previous posts in Star Art about the Illusion Worlds she used in competitions, but this time, someone had gone ahead and created a separate “Discussion Forum.”
The discussion area’s tagline was, [Come witness the birth of a great Dream Caster!]
Su Liqian clicked into the discussion area and found that it already had thousands of fans.
Pinned posts not only included a summary of the original cards Su Liqian had used but also dedicated individual threads for each Illusion World.
The most popular Illusion World by far was Journey to the West, and right behind it was Oracle’s Legacy, which had left quite an impression with the special gear card.
In every post, people had collected and organized all the cards that had appeared from that Illusion World, and everyone was brainstorming, speculating on the story backgrounds, character setups, and more.
Of course, most interstellar citizens had little to no foundation in ancient civilizations, so the backstories they imagined often strayed far from the actual setting of the Illusion Worlds.
For example, under the 《Journey to the West》 thread, there were already over a thousand comments. Holding the mindset of “Let’s see what level of imagination interstellar people have,” Su Liqian began scrolling through them.
【Summary of all the 《Journey to the West》 cards that have appeared (Updated in real time)】
1. B-level Weapon Card – Purple Gold Red Gourd
2. A-level Weapon Card – Jade Purity Bottle
3. A-level Weapon Card – Mixed Heaven Silk
4. B-level Weapon Card – Demon-Repelling Mirror
5. B-level Weapon Card – Banana Fan
Each summary was thoughtfully accompanied by the video from the competition, and some users used these appearances to try and guess the setting of Journey to the West.
【It’s pretty clear this must be an Illusion World with a fantasy setting, these weapons don’t seem ordinary.】
【A gourd, a red ribbon, a bottle, a mirror, a fan—these all look like items from an old-school drama. Could this be some kind of ancient romance story or something?】
【I went through a lot of ancient civilization history, and here’s a bold guess: gourds, bottles, mirrors, fans, and red silk—these look like everyday items. Could this be a daily-life story?】
【Doesn’t seem like an everyday story at all. These weapons seem unassuming but always have surprising effects. I’ve been proven wrong a few times already…】
【Every time Su Liqian pulls out a Journey to the West weapon card, it changes my view of things.】
【Am I the only one who finds these weapons strangely beautiful? Haha, I really like them.】
【I saw in an interview with Su Liqian that these Illusion Worlds were based on stories from ancient civilizations. I bet it’s some kind of fantasy story from ancient civilizations. Does anyone know about ancient civilizations?】
【Hmm… How old is this ancient civilization? In the history I know, there’s no record of this kind of story.】
【I think it’s from an ancient civilization on Blue Star, called the Chinese Civilization?】
【I just searched, but couldn’t find any useful information. This seems way too old to be true.】
【Didn’t they say this ancient civilization was already lost? Seems like Su Liqian accidentally inherited its legacy. Who would’ve thought that the stories from such an ancient civilization would be so impressive?】
【Don’t get carried away. So far, it’s nothing special. I’ll be convinced only when we see an S-level card. 】
【Ancient civilization legacy? This is real? The last person who got a legacy from an ancient civilization did so a long time ago. Actually, it’s nice if a brilliant civilization didn’t completely disappear. At least now it has a chance to shine again.】
【Forget it. Recreating an entire civilization is too difficult. Besides, except for Journey to the West, which has some recognition in the Sixth Star District, nothing else really makes an impact. And with just these few harmless cards, there’s no truly powerful card here. Let’s not get our hopes up. You think the long-developed star civilizations will just let some rookie revive an ancient civilization?】
【Hey, this is a Journey to the West fan thread. Can the haters leave?】
【Alright, alright, the internet’s environment is really bad these days. Why do things always turn into arguments?】
【Can’t even tell the truth anymore. When Journey to the West gets a card that ranks in the top ten of any card ranking, then we’ll talk about spreading the legacy of ancient civilizations. Right now, it’s just a novelty.】
【Aren’t we discussing the setting of Illusion Worlds? How did we end up arguing about this while I was having lunch?】
Su Liqian didn’t scroll any further. She frowned slightly and began thinking over some of the points made in the thread.
She had indeed wanted to showcase and promote the Chinese Civilization in the star system, but she clearly hadn’t thought it through.
It seemed this matter was far more complicated than she had imagined.
Sigh…
Su Liqian rubbed her forehead.
An Illusion World’s “breakout” couldn’t rely solely on a few standout moments in competitions. It needed to leave something lasting, something that could stand the test of time.
For example, entering the card rankings.
There were many kinds of rankings: “Practicality Rankings,” “Aesthetic Rankings,” “World-Building Rankings,” and so on. But the most widely recognized were the official Comprehensive Power Rankings released annually at the Grand Card Tournament.
This ranking included all card types and sub-categories, and even cards from each Illusion World had a list ordered by their power from highest to lowest.
Since there’s a big gap between A-level and S-level cards, A-level cards also have their own separate leaderboard. Right now, most of the leaderboards Su Liqian is looking at are for A-level cards.
It’s important to note that this leaderboard isn’t ranked based on specific card values. Instead, it collects massive amounts of data, such as card usage stats, win rates, simulated battle power, and more, which are all used in a comprehensive calculation to determine the final ranking.
Any Illusion World card that makes it onto this leaderboard is bound to become a “dream card” for many players.
If Su Liqian wants more people to know about Chinese civilization, she has to make it into the top 10 of the overall card leaderboard!
She silently set this goal while looking at the most prominent section at the top of the official website.
Though she can’t do it yet, she believes that one day, she will make it happen!
She’ll take these cards and become the strongest card master!
Compared to Journey to the West, discussions about Oracle’s Legacy only started picking up after Su Liqian’s match with Li Xuexiao.
Though the Frost Piercer Sword is one of Su Liqian’s usual cards, it didn’t attract much attention, probably because a “sword” isn’t seen as an especially unique weapon.
This time, though, Oracle’s Legacy became popular not because of strength, but because of looks.
Su Liqian’s unusual outfit during her match with Li Xuexiao sparked a lot of discussion. Some tried to trace its origins in interstellar history but came up empty-handed. In the end, they could only attribute it once again to ancient civilizations.
However, these discussions were mostly limited to the trending lists within the star district and didn’t hold much real influence.
Su Liqian still has a long way to go, so what she needs to do now is prepare for the next match and aim for the Star Realm Tournament!
◇◆◇
But by the time the final match came, Su Liqian was feeling a little nervous.
With only one step left to advance, she had started preparing early, fearing something might go wrong at the last moment.
She logged into the official card tournament website and checked the real-time rankings for the Sixth Star District. Even though losing the final match wouldn’t necessarily eliminate her, there’s always a big risk of having to compete again, and she didn’t want to take that chance.
After closing the ranking page, Su Liqian opened the schedule for the final round.
This time, her opponent was a young man named “Chen Ke.”
Though he was labeled as a young man, the image on his profile showed a worn-out, gloomy-looking person.
He wasn’t even thirty yet, but he seemed like someone who had been through a lot in life.
Su Liqian searched for more details about him and found out that this was his first time competing in the card tournament!
“His first time…”
That was pretty unusual.
People around Chen Ke’s age would usually have participated in several tournaments by now, so someone like him being a newcomer was rare.
Moreover, he had already missed the best growth period for a card master. Making it to the Star District Finals in his first tournament at this age was already quite a rare feat.
Though his competition data wasn’t extensive, it still revealed a lot.
For instance, the official photo of Chen Ke seemed to be taken before the tournament, but after competing, he appeared to be looking much better, almost as if he had regained his youth and energy.
His battle style was conservative, just like the first impression he gave.
Su Liqian took note of Chen Ke’s main cards and strengths and weaknesses in her preparation notebook, then began focusing on the final match strategy.
Over the past few days, Su Liqian had tried to craft specific cards to counter Chen Ke, but the results weren’t great.
Card crafting is inherently random, and the cards she ended up with didn’t match her expectations.
For example, she had wanted to craft a card that could counter Chen Ke’s A-level illusion gear card Dark Abyss Resonance from Mecha Storm. Despite her efforts, while she did craft a few illusion gear cards, the one she actually needed just wouldn’t appear.
Su Liqian didn’t feel it was worth spending a lot of money on custom cards, so she let the matter go.
Card tournaments are all about adapting to your opponent’s moves, and “counter cards” often don’t work as planned.
In the end, the cards she crafted for testing were all put up for sale on a trading site. At least her efforts weren’t wasted—she managed to make quite a bit of money from them.
