Over a month later, Yu Zi heard the news that Yu Ziheng and his mother had bought a new property in China.
The couple eventually divorced, with Yu Ziheng’s mother gaining custody of him. Yu Zi wasn’t too clear about the rest of the property division. But he heard that Yu Ziheng’s mother had hired a famous lawyer in China to represent her, so the outcome should not have been too bad.
As for where Yu Qing went, he didn’t care.
After that meeting, Yu Ziheng did call him once, saying he wanted to meet again. But Yu Zi directly refused.
Later, he ran into Yu Ziheng at the entrance of a psychological clinic.
Yu Ziheng instinctively wanted to explain why he was there, but Yu Zi interrupted him with a few words. Of course, Yu Zi understood why Yu Ziheng was here.
Witnessing his own biological father’s affair scene at the age of thirteen would cast a shadow on anyone’s psyche.
Yu Zi’s company gradually expanded from just the two of them to nearly thirty people.
During this process, He Xun helped them a lot, providing many good candidates from his candidate list. After several rounds of interviews, Yu Zi finally found responsible persons for various departments such as finance, legal affairs, branding, and human resources.
The only position of Sales Director remained unfilled.
The market expansion of domestic wineries was already in a stage of barbaric growth, and combined with the high industry barriers of this job, it was difficult for salespeople from other industries to take over directly. Paul had thought about inserting his own people, but Yu Zi directly refused.
It wasn’t that he had any prejudices against Paul, it’s just that many management members of Xuyang had rigid thinking, and they would inevitably be incompatible here. He was too lazy to cater to these old fogies.
At the same time, Shandai officially entered more than fifty restaurants under Xuyang. Their presence began to appear in major chain supermarkets and well-known liquor stores. Bai Cheng’s liquor was continuously transported to the North China region.
The once stagnant Baiyun Wuli was completely revitalized. Wei Yunli boldly merged two nearby small wineries, and then completely renovated the entire winery, doubling the production directly.
Yu Zi heard the news and wanted to set off five hundred firecrackers on the mountain for her.
The huge fishing boats had already set sail, waiting for the right moment to cast their nets and catch fish.
The original office gradually couldn’t accommodate so many people. Xie Dongcheng found a larger flat, and the developer did a fine decoration. It was about three hundred square meters, with a huge floor-to-ceiling window facing south, and there was also a tea break area outside.
Yu Zi’s office was in the easternmost part of the entire flat, separated from the outside area by frosted glass, and Xie Dongcheng’s workstation was next to his.
The employees in the company only knew that the young boss Yu Zi had a deep relationship with Secretary Xie. In their eyes, the young boss Yu Zi was eccentric and didn’t like meetings. He resolutely didn’t waste a minute on conversations about issues that could be solved with bonuses. And Secretary Xie worked diligently, accompanying the boss to and from work every day.
That year, the northern city welcomed a rare cold wave that hadn’t been seen in decades. After winter arrived, it snowed heavily for a month. The white snow covered everything outside the office building, and the property management couldn’t keep up with clearing it.
In the past, the two would leave the office building around six in the afternoon. But today was an exception.
Yu Zi had already put on a thick wool coat early on, but Xie Dongcheng showed no sign of leaving.
“What are you busy with?”
Xie Dongcheng opened WeChat and forwarded a message to Yu Zi.
“Another drinking session?!” Yu Zi frowned when he saw the content.
“Yes, it was a last-minute invitation, and I couldn’t decline.”
As the company still didn’t have a Sales Director, Yu Zi had to handle all the big clients himself. He used to dislike these purposeful drinking sessions, but now he had to face them.
As a secretary, Xie Dongcheng took over his work phone and would help filter out some meaningless invitations. If they could be avoided, they would be avoided.
Today, it was a local chain liquor store owner’s invitation, which was also an important potential customer. If they refused again, it might have a negative impact on the business. After much deliberation, Xie Dongcheng accepted.
They were meeting at a garden hotel in the old city area. These days, the weather was fluctuating between cold and hot, and Yu Zi had caught a cold, coupled with busy work, he was feeling a bit listless. He followed Xie Dongcheng to the hotel but lacked enthusiasm.
The reserved private room was in a secluded area at the westernmost part of the garden hotel. It took them a while to get there. After opening the door, they found that there were already quite a few people inside.
Xie Dongcheng was in a suit and leather shoes, and he greeted various bosses on behalf of Yu Zi one by one, exchanging business cards for him.
But when the owner of the liquor store heard the voice, he looked over and waved vigorously at Xie Dongcheng, “You must be Mr. Yu, right! Oh, I’ve heard so much about Mr. Yu’s reputation, and now I finally meet you in person!”
Xie Dongcheng was taken aback, before he could deny it, Yu Zi immediately pushed him from behind. Xie Dongcheng stumbled and bumped into the owner, reluctantly reaching out his right hand to shake hands with him.
The owner of the liquor store laughed heartily, “I’ve long heard of Mr. Yu’s name. Seeing you in person, you are truly remarkable, Mr. Yu!”
Yu Zi stifled a laugh behind him, not coming out to deny it.
Xie Dongcheng could only force a smile at the other party, “You’re too kind, you’re too kind.”
“Who is this?” The liquor store owner glanced back and saw another remarkable young man standing behind this “Mr. Yu”.
“Hello, I’m his secretary. My last name is Xie,” Yu Zi cleared his throat.
“Oh, hello there,” the liquor store owner nodded in acknowledgment.
Yu Zi immediately returned a social smile, then quickly shrunk behind Xie Dongcheng.
Throughout the entire gathering, Xie Dongcheng played the role of Yu Zi, toasting and exchanging cups. Yu Zi sat beside him, silent, pretending to fulfill his duty as a secretary.
“Mr. Yu, your secretary is quite polite!” A man diagonally across from them smiled at Xie Dongcheng.
Xie Dongcheng forced a smile, “He doesn’t usually attend these occasions, he’s more introverted…”
After saying this through gritted teeth, Xie Dongcheng wanted to smack himself. After being with Yu Zi for so long, he could even come up with such excuses.
Several bosses around them looked at him and teased, “Tsk. Mr. Yu, you have such a handsome guy by your side, you should bring him out more often in the future!”
“Yes, we’re getting older, we need to communicate more with you young people to stay up to date.”
With everyone joking and laughing, the table was filled with lively chatter.
But Xie Dongcheng felt uncomfortable. He glanced at the innocent-looking Yu Zi beside him and hastily diverted the topic with a toast, “Let’s drink, let’s drink.”
After rounds of evasion, the awkward drinking session finally ended after more than two hours.
Yu Zi didn’t touch a drop of alcohol, while Xie Dongcheng got dizzy from drinking.
He mustered his willpower and played the role of “Mr. Yu” for the last ten minutes, bidding farewell to the bosses one by one before finally escaping from the crowd.
Yu Zi took out the car keys from his pocket and slung his arm over Xie Dongcheng’s shoulder, leading him to the parking lot.
“Get in the car, my boss,” Yu Zi opened the passenger door for him.
Xie Dongcheng sighed heavily and sat in the passenger seat, feeling dazed.
Yu Zi leaned over and helped him fasten his seatbelt. With a click, the buckle locked into place, and Yu Zi was about to sit back in the driver’s seat when Xie Dongcheng grabbed his wrist.
Even though he was drunk, Xie Dongcheng still had considerable strength. He squeezed Yu Zi’s wrist, causing him pain.
“What are you doing?!”
Xie Dongcheng looked into his eyes and asked softly, “Is this fun for you?”
Yu Zi pretended not to understand. “What’s fun?”
“Do you really enjoy being a secretary?” Xie Dongcheng’s breath carried a hint of alcohol.
Yu Zi smiled happily, even suggesting, “How about this, on odd-numbered days, you’ll be the secretary, and on even-numbered days, I’ll be the secretary. We’ll take turns.”
Xie Dongcheng still seemed dissatisfied. After a while, he squeezed out a sentence, “But I’m your personal secretary.”
“Well, there’s still Sunday, isn’t there?” Yu Zi pulled his hand away and grasped the steering wheel.
“What plans do you have for Sunday?” Xie Dongcheng looked at him.
Yu Zi stepped on the pedal, ignited the engine, and turned to him, “On Sunday, I’ll be your personal secretary.”
Xie Dongcheng glanced at his phone screen and realized it was indeed Sunday today.
“You said it.”
“I said it.”
Half an hour later, the car pulled into the parking garage of Fangjiyuan. Yu Zi turned off the engine and got out of the car.
After climbing to the fifth floor, Xie Dongcheng watched as Yu Zi took off his coat, hung it up, and resumed his usual demeanor, seemingly completely forgetting the promise he had made in the car just now.
The room had been heated for some time, and after Yu Zi finished showering, he casually put on Xie Dongcheng’s short-sleeved T-shirt. His smooth thighs swayed in the room as he bent down to feed the fish, then picked up his phone to reply to messages, but he didn’t make any further moves.
Xie Dongcheng couldn’t wait any longer. He reached out and pulled him into the bedroom, closing the bedroom door with a snap. The fish in the living room aquarium thought there was an earthquake and all hid under the aquatic plants.
Xie Dongcheng turned off the bedroom light with a flick of his hand and pressed himself against Yu Zi. Now, there was only the sound of their breathing in the entire space. “There are only two hours left on Sunday.”
In the darkness, Yu Zi took his hand and gently guided it towards his waist, slipping it under the soft hem of the T-shirt.
He guided Xie Dongcheng’s fingers downward.
A few seconds later, Xie Dongcheng’s fingers stopped at a certain spot. He suddenly realized what it was and swallowed hard, unable to help but speak up, “Did you prepare yourself without me?”
Yu Zi chuckled softly, burying his face in his neck, “As a personal secretary, naturally, I have to fulfill all the boss’s needs. I deliver on my promises.”
The heavy snow fell all night long, and the busy tire tracks left deep and shallow marks in the snow.
Sticky snow flowed down the walls, leaving large and small watermarks on the red bricks.
The rose branches were completely bent, and the flower pond was filled with glistening white snow. It wasn’t until around four or five in the morning when the morning breeze rippled, that the white snow in the flower pond was finally cleaned up.
Outside the window, the sky was about to brighten, and Xie Dongcheng was already sober from his alcohol. When he opened his eyes, he saw Yu Zi sleeping soundly beside him.
Yu Zi’s chest rose and fell slightly with his breath. Perhaps it was the alcohol evaporating all the moisture from his body, or perhaps it was the dry winter weather itself. Xie Dongcheng looked at his face and felt increasingly thirsty.
The next moment, he reached out his arm and pulled the person beside him into his embrace.
Yu Zi had finally fallen into a deep sleep, only to be awakened again.
“What’s wrong?” Yu Zi didn’t open his eyes, softly asking the person behind him.
“Let’s do it again,” Xie Dongcheng reached out to explore below.
Yu Zi wriggled out of his embrace like a fish and then turned over to face him.
He reached out and groped for a moment at the head of the bed, found his phone, lit up the screen, and handed it to Xie Dongcheng.
“It’s Monday now. I’m the boss.”
