Chapter 16: Little Peacock Qin Zhiyu
Qin Zhiyu was seated on a stool, and Xu Sangluo combed her hair from behind.
Qin Zhiyu cherished her hair and wouldn’t even cut it.
So her hair was quite long, reaching her waist when she let it down.
She picked out a long pink and white dotted hair ribbon, tied a small bow in the middle.
Then she fixed it in the position from her forehead to the back, then took a small strand of hair from the middle of her forehead and braided it into a small braid, passing it through the middle of the bow.
The two ends of the ribbon crossed from under the hair to the top, then braided together with the hair, forming a loose braid that hung down to her chest.
She tied another bow at the end.
Then she took a small peach-shaped hair clip and pinned it to her ear, fixing the hair ribbon on top of her head.
“Okay, take a look.”
Xu Sangluo straightened up and handed her a square mirror.
Qin Zhiyu couldn’t wait any longer, she excitedly took the mirror and looked at it with anticipation and a little anxiety.
When she saw the person in the mirror, she was stunned.
After a long time, she said in a daze, “This, is this really me?”
The person in the mirror was both familiar and strange, Qin Zhiyu couldn’t believe it was her.
Actually, Qin Zhiyu had a good foundation, otherwise, she wouldn’t have been so miserable in her previous life and still been noticed by a wealthy businessman.
It’s just that her skin was a little tanned now, and she looked a little sallow due to malnutrition, and she hadn’t fully grown up yet.
Qin’s mother couldn’t help but laugh, “Sangluo’s hands are really skillful, it’s like she’s a different person.”
“Mom, this is really me? I, I…”
She couldn’t help but carefully pinch the bow at the end, then gently touch her hair.
She was afraid of accidentally ruining it.
Then she couldn’t help but show a big smile, she said happily, “Oh, I’m so pretty.”
Qin’s mother scolded her with a smile, “You shameless girl, you’re wasting your Sister Sangluo’s hairstyle with your messy look.”
Qin Zhiyu was not happy, she pouted and said dissatisfied, “How am I messy? It’s clearly very beautiful, I’m naturally beautiful.”
She turned around and couldn’t help but hug Xu Sangluo, “Thank you, Sister Sangluo. You’re really amazing, what don’t you know how to do?”
Xu Sangluo put away her things and said with a smile, “Don’t exaggerate.”
“I’m not exaggerating at all.” Qin Zhiyu still couldn’t put down the mirror and was admiring herself.
Suddenly, she put down the mirror, “No, such beautiful hair needs to be seen by more people. Mom, Sister Sangluo, I’m going out for a bit, I’ll be back soon.”
Before she finished speaking, she had already rushed out of the courtyard.
“Where are you going… This girl, she’s so impulsive. Sangluo, you’re making me look bad.”
Qin’s mother said helplessly.
Xu Sangluo chuckled and shook her head, “No, Xiaoyu has a straightforward personality, she’s very cute.”
“Grandma, Aunt Sang!” At this time, little Qin Yan popped out from behind the door curtain, rubbing his eyes with his small fists.
He was obviously woken up by the commotion in the yard.
Qin Zhiyu went to show off to her good friends, receiving countless compliments, and after teasing a group of envious and jealous people, she came back happily.
Xu Sangluo saw that she was in a good mood, so she felt relieved.
With Qin Zhiyu around, she didn’t have to stay in the yard watching all the time.
As noon approached, she put on a bamboo basket, rode her bicycle, and went to town.
But before she left, she brought an extra lunch box.
The lunch box was Qin Zhiyi’s, and she packed a box of refreshing vinegar-braised cabbage in it.
She also took a small basket and wrapped a few freshly baked cabbage and braised meat buns in a cloth.
Then she told them not to wait for her to come back for lunch, and she rode her bike, wobbly, and left.
Qin’s mother didn’t stop her from delivering lunch, she was even a little happy.
Although she felt a little sorry for her, she secretly hoped that her son and Xu Sangluo could become a couple.
Xu Sangluo arrived in town and looked around.
She found that there were more people doing business in town than she expected.
But there weren’t many stalls, mostly some old shops along the street.
A few stalls were basically some villagers selling vegetables.
Although the economy opened up in 1981, it was only this year that private businesses were fully open.
But many people were still restricted by the “speculation and profiteering” ideology that had lasted for over a decade.
Especially in some backward towns, there wasn’t even anyone willing to be the first to try something new.
Compared to that, Gaoshui Town was in a better situation.
Xu Sangluo wandered around for a while, and she had a general idea.
She planned to go to the county to take a look in the afternoon.
But it was already noon, looking at the time, Qin Zhiyi should be off work soon.
She rode her bike and asked for directions along the way, and finally found the red brick factory in a remote place.
The dirt road outside the red brick factory was even worse, not only were there traces of car wheels, but there were also many mud pits and puddles.
Xu Sangluo could only push her bike along the wall, stepping on the stones by the roadside.
When she reached the gate, she saw many people coming out of the factory.
There were also many people sitting on the stones by the roadside or on piles of broken bricks, eating and chatting.
Some were just holding a hard bun and chewing.
Some were holding lunch boxes, and they were also…
Some were simply holding enamel mugs and drinking water.
Everyone was wearing the same work clothes as Qin Zhiyi, covered in red dust, with a dirty towel hanging around their necks.
When Xu Sangluo walked over, she attracted the attention of many people.
Their eyes lit up when they saw her.
But no one dared to approach her.
Being a hooligan was still a serious crime.
Xu Sangluo didn’t see Qin Zhiyi anywhere outside.
She parked her bicycle and went to ask someone.
“Brother, is Qin Zhiyi working here?”
The uncle she asked was startled.
Before he could speak, a dark-skinned man across from him spoke first.
“Comrade, you’re looking for Qin Zhiyi? Well, you’re out of luck, he just left.”
Xu Sangluo was startled, “Left? Do you know where he went? When will he be back?”
“Who are you to him?” the man asked.
Xu Sangluo paused, thought for a moment, and vaguely said, “Family.”
The man raised his eyebrows, showing surprise and scrutiny, followed by a look of envy.
The man happened to be quite familiar with Qin Zhiyi, he knew that his family only had a younger sister who was still in junior high school.
This woman was clearly not her, and since she was family, it could only be another kind of relationship.
Wow, this kid Da Yi is hiding it well, he secretly married such a beautiful wife.
He’s so envious.
“Go straight this way, turn right at the corner, then walk a bit further, there’s a scrap yard, he should be there now.”
After speaking, the man felt a little uneasy, he stood up, “Or I’ll take you there.”
Xu Sangluo quickly said, “No, no, I got it.”
She went back to her bicycle, took two buns out of the basket.
“Here, thank you. These are homemade buns, don’t be shy. I’ll go now.”
The man was too embarrassed to take them, he wanted to return them, but Xu Sangluo had already turned and ran.
He looked down at the white and plump buns in the lunch box, which were covered in soup, and couldn’t help but swallow.
Noticing the gazes from around him, he straightened his expression and immediately took a big bite of the bun.
He ate half of it in one bite, but as soon as he chewed, his eyes widened.
Meanwhile, Xu Sangluo followed the man’s directions and walked for about ten minutes, and she finally saw a scrap yard.
She was a little confused about why Qin Zhiyi would be at a scrap yard.
Collecting scrap?
