Chapter 14: His Family Had Bodyguards
The starry sky gleamed, and the night felt enchanting.
The swaying bamboo forest gently danced in the evening breeze, while the sounds of insects and frogs seemed to fade into the distance.
After watching cartoons, the little one curled up like a kitten in Chen Feng’s arms, her hair ties undone, sleeping soundly with peaceful breaths.
The milky-scented little girl looked so adorable while sleeping that Chen Feng enjoyed watching her.
He chuckled softly, and his mysterious aura subtly transformed Little Linglong from inside out.
The midsummer weather changed in an instant. At around four or five in the morning, a violent wind howled, followed by flashes of lightning and thunder. Heavy rain poured down relentlessly.
Little Linglong woke from the sound of rain, shook her father and asked to go potty, but afterward she couldn’t fall back asleep. She lay on Chen Feng’s chest, murmuring, “Papa.”
“Little Silly~ meow~ is outside~”
Chen Feng pretended to be drowsy. “They all ran under the eaves, don’t worry. Daddy took care of you, took you to the potty, but I haven’t slept enough yet.”
“I want to sleep a bit longer, call me when the sun rises~”
But Little Linglong rolled around on his belly like a mischievous kitten, nudging him with her head, full of energy.
Chen Feng felt helpless and hugged her. The little one squirmed around, stuck her chubby cheeks to her daddy, and laughed gleefully.
“Papa, milk, grandma~” The little one cupped her father’s face and shook it with all her strength.
How could he sleep like this?
How could he possibly get any sleep?
Chen Feng opened his eyes, gathered the little one into his arms, tiptoed to the living room, fetched the formula can, and mixed up milk for her. Outside, the wind and rain howled, and the temperature turned much cooler than before.
The annoying insects fell silent after the sudden downpour.
On the sofa, Little Linglong hugged her bottle and sipped determinedly.
When she saw her father watching her closely, the little one stretched out her arms, offering the bottle. “Papa, drink, grandma~”
Her round eyes looked especially serious.
But her little mouth still smacked unconsciously.
Chen Feng found his daughter’s look so funny that he burst out laughing and shook his head. “Daddy won’t drink the little one’s milk.”
“I’m an adult, I can eat instant noodles.”
He let the little girl hold her bottle and pretended to rummage under the coffee table. He took out a box of braised beef instant noodles supplied by the army logistics.
Under Linglong’s curious gaze, Chen Feng tore open the instant noodle packaging, put the noodles and seasonings into a big bowl, and poured in hot water from the dispenser.
When Little Linglong finished her milk, the fragrance of instant noodles wafted through the living room.
She widened her eyes, and her pointed little nose sniffed the air eagerly like a puppy. It smelled so, so good~
Chen Feng was amused by Little Linglong’s naive expression, took out his phone and snapped a photo to post on his Moments: “On the irresistible allure of instant noodles to infants.”
Soon, the noodles cooked. He picked up a chopstick-full, raised his brows at Linglong, grinned, and slurped them down with satisfaction, letting out a long sigh. “So delicious!”
This made Little Linglong so anxious. She knelt on the sofa, calling with her baby voice, “Papa, papa—”
“Little baby, eat~”
Chen Feng grinned mischievously. “You’re still a little baby! Daddy will finish the noodles first, then give you a sip of soup.”
Although he teased her, he still picked out a noodle, blew it cool, and brought it to Little Linglong’s mouth. The little girl opened wide, craned her neck, calling “ah,” and ate with a delighted grin.
After letting her try some, in Little Linglong’s astonished gaze, he slurped up the rest of the noodles in no time, leaving only a little bit of soup.
Just as her father was about to drink the last sip, the little girl hurriedly grabbed Chen Feng’s arm. “Papa, little baby~ drink~”
After a hard struggle, Chen Feng reluctantly said, “This soup was meant for Daddy, but since you want it, Daddy will go hungry so you can have some.”
The little girl nodded eagerly, nearly dunking her whole head into the bowl.
When she finished the soup, she let out a long sigh, smacked her little lips, and announced with her baby voice, “I love it~”
“So tasty~”
Chen Feng sighed. “You’re happy, but Daddy didn’t even get enough to eat. You drank all Daddy’s noodle soup. Poor Daddy.”
“Linglong, you need to grow up quickly, so you can cook lots of delicious food for Daddy.”
The little girl burped contentedly, still savoring the taste of noodle soup. When she heard her father’s words, she grinned, “Okay~”
Seeing how easy it was to fool his little girl, Chen Feng secretly felt delighted. Fatherhood would be much easier from now on.
The elders were right: you had to start training their brains from an early age.
Chuckling to himself, he hugged his little treasure and gently rocked her. “Alright, you’re full, time to sleep.”
Little Linglong’s long lashes fluttered as her eyelids slowly drooped. She didn’t want to sleep, but Daddy’s arms felt so comfortable.
“Snore~ snore~”
Seeing the little cutie sleeping so soundly, Chen Feng smiled, carried her to the bedroom, and tucked her under the covers.
Little one, it wasn’t even daylight yet. Even waking up early couldn’t be allowed to mess up Daddy’s rest.
When the wind and rain faded and birds sang cheerfully, sunlight shone into the room from the window. Only then did Little Linglong rub her eyes with her tiny paws, yawn, and wake up.
Then she suddenly sensed something and wrinkled her mouth, bursting into tears. “Papa, papa—”
Chen Feng had just finished showering. When he heard the little one crying, he hurried in.
Ugh, the smell nearly overwhelmed him. The little girl had pooped in her sleep!
After cleaning up the little one, it was already past 9 a.m. Little Linglong ate steamed egg and sweet pumpkin buns, and still didn’t forget to practice boxing.
She performed military boxing, Black Dragon Eighteen Forms, her fierce but adorable style making her grandparents laugh nonstop. They wondered why she was such a playful little cub.
After practice, the milky-cheeked Little Linglong followed her daddy imposingly to the study to learn new things.
Little Silly walked in with her pigeon-toed gait, happily following along.
Before long, a soft childish voice rang out: “Goose, goose, goose~ sings in the sky with its bent neck~”
Father and mother went for a walk by the fields and picked a lot of purslane, bringing them back to the yard to sort vegetables and prepare lunch.
The whole village steamed with humidity, and mist filled the bamboo forest, as if the place were a giant steamer.
After the summer rain, the air was fresh but everywhere hung white mist. From afar, it looked like a fairyland.
A luxurious minivan stopped at Auntie Zhang’s mahjong parlor. The window rolled down, and a young man in sunglasses leaned out to ask Zhang Daqiang and the others who were bragging in the yard, “Hello everyone, do you know where Chen Feng’s house is?”
Someone from the village replied loudly, “Just go straight ahead, the one by the creek that looks like a prince’s mansion.”
As they watched the minivan drive off, people began to whisper, “Is this more trouble coming?”
Zhang Daqiang shook his head. “Gao Hongqiang just got dealt with yesterday. No one with brains would come looking for trouble now.”
“His family has bodyguards.”
Soon, gossip rose among the villagers again—they thought it was as eye-opening as a knife scraping a butt.
The world of the wealthy truly made no sense.
It wasn’t even ten-thirty, and the scorching sunlight poured down, making the autumn cicadas more excited as they flaunted their final brilliance.
The minivan arrived at Chen Feng’s gate.
Eight people got out. They all wore track suits. Two slightly older men, around forty, looked especially lean and tough.
The young man in sunglasses stood behind them, expressionless.
“Uncle You was killed here,” said a short, muscular, fierce-looking young man with hatred in his voice.
“The one who fought here was truly ruthless.” The youth in sunglasses gritted his teeth.
“Ah Yun, go knock on the door!” The leading middle-aged man’s temples bulged, his knuckles covered with thick calluses. He looked very intimidating.
The courtyard gate was knocked. Chen Dachang, just coming out from the kitchen, asked, “What do you folks want?”
A cold voice answered from outside, “We are from Shuangyou Martial Arts School. We came to seek justice.”
Chen Dachang felt these people must be crazy. Their family had never been involved with any martial arts school.
He rolled his eyes. “If you want justice, go seek it at the police station.”
Then Chen Feng walked out of the study, leading his little dumpling. After nearly two hours of study, Linglong could recite ten Tang poems.
He looked toward the gate, feeling puzzled.
Then he heard someone go on, “Yesterday my junior brother was killed here.”
“He was only acting on someone’s behalf, but you struck so mercilessly. If we don’t come for an explanation, how can we face his family?”
Chen Feng’s eyes chilled when he heard this.
Wasn’t this just the classic villain playing the victim?
He was here with a child. That guy threw a cannon punch—any regular person would be either dead on the spot or fatally wounded. Yet they had the nerve to come seek justice!
How could there be people so shameless in this world?
“Lian Yu!” Chen Feng barked, “Beat them down, then go tear apart their martial arts school.”
“Anyone who aids evil!”
The group from the martial arts school suddenly noticed, with surprise, that a group of soldiers had appeared around them, at some point.
A devilishly beautiful and stunningly enchanting young man, dressed smartly in training gear, moved in with icy precision.
He threw a punch!
The middle-aged man, who looked terrifyingly strong, responded fiercely with a punch—but in the next instant, the sound of bones shattering rang out. His body flew more than ten meters, smashed through a row of bamboo, and landed on the ground.
He showed no sign of life.
Another man, shocked, roared, “How dare you!”
But before he could finish, Lian Yu’s slap landed hard on his cheek. Boom—
A buzz echoed in his head; his body spun and flew off, and as he hit the ground, half his skull looked shattered.
Blood streamed from every orifice!
The remaining three young men instantly knelt, raising their hands. “Please, beauty, spare us~”
Lian Yu’s face darkened. Those captivating eyes glared coldly at them, his voice low and full of killing intent. “Beauty?”
