Chapter 29: She was one step closer to the truth.
Bai Chan glanced at her mother.
Besides her and her mother, there was only Lu Hui, the senior caregiver, in the ward.
So Bai Chan answered, “It’s the caregiver that Young Master Feng hired for my mother, Aunt Hui.”
Lu Hui, hired by Feng Yilin… as a caregiver?
Meng Mingxuan felt dizzy.
How could Feng Yilin know Yin Ting’s mother?
And he hired her to be Bai Chan’s mother’s caregiver?
Meng Mingxuan’s mind buzzed for a while before she steadied her voice and said, “Bai Chan, I’ll be there soon, you help me keep her here.”
Bai Chan was stunned for a moment, then nodded, “Okay, Miss.”
After Meng Mingxuan ended the video call, Bai Chan turned to Lu Hui, who was taking care of her mother.
This senior caregiver hired by Young Master Feng, according to people in the ward next door, was very expensive.
But she was famous in Lincheng for being able to handle things.
She had a high EQ, and she could almost meet any employer’s requirements.
All her previous employers liked her.
She didn’t know how the Miss knew Lu Hui.
Bai Chan helped Meng Mingxuan keep Lu Hui there, not letting her leave the ward.
Lu Hui didn’t ask why, as long as the employer’s request wasn’t too much, she would do it.
Half an hour later, Meng Mingxuan, dressed in pure white casual clothes, walked into the ward.
Her gaze was almost glued to Lu Hui’s face.
But her expression was calm.
No one knew how many waves were crashing inside Meng Mingxuan’s heart.
It was earth-shattering.
“Miss.” Bai Chan called softly.
“Miss.”
“Miss.”
Cheng Anning and Lu Hui quickly followed suit.
Meng Mingxuan looked at Lu Hui.
Lu Hui’s expression had a hint of flattery that she wasn’t familiar with, she hadn’t seen it on Lu Hui’s face before, but she had seen this kind of flattery on other people’s faces.
One thing was certain, Lu Hui didn’t recognize her.
But how could Yin Ting’s mother not recognize her?
Meng Mingxuan had already walked in front of Lu Hui, but she hadn’t spoken.
The atmosphere was oppressively quiet.
“Big…” Cheng Anning was about to speak, but Bai Chan grabbed her wrist.
Bai Chan shook her head at her.
Cheng Anning immediately swallowed the words she was about to say.
“Aunt Hui, right?”
Meng Mingxuan raised her hand and took Lu Hui’s two hands.
“Yes.” Lu Hui’s smile was comfortable, “You must be the Miss, right? I’ve seen your photo, you’re even more beautiful in person than in the photo.”
Meng Mingxuan felt a pang of heartache, “Do you have children?”
“Ah? Children… I do, I have a son and a daughter, but they’re younger than the Miss, one is in high school, and the other is in middle school, my husband and I got married and had children late.” Lu Hui was stunned for a moment, then nodded.
A son and a daughter.
One in high school, one in middle school.
And a husband…
But Yin Ting was an only child, his father died early, and his mother was a widow.
It didn’t add up.
Meng Mingxuan’s heart was in turmoil.
She didn’t know why Lu Hui had become her mother-in-law in her previous life, but she knew that she was one step closer to the truth.
“Feng Yilin is my brother’s friend.”
Meng Mingxuan forced a smile, “How could he find you to be Aunt’s caregiver?”
Lu Hui was puzzled, the Miss seemed to know her.
But she didn’t dare to ask these wealthy people questions.
What was her status, and what was the Miss’s status.
“I… “
She was a housekeeper.
She had a good reputation in the wealthy circles of Lincheng.
Meng Mingxuan remembered that in her previous life, she didn’t know she had a mother-in-law until she moved into the villa after her wedding with Yin Ting.
Before that, she thought Yin Ting was an orphan whose parents had passed away.
As for Lu Hui, Yin Ting didn’t pay much attention to her, often giving her a cold face.
At that time, she thought it was because Lu Hui always helped her that Yin Ting was angry with Lu Hui.
Thinking about it now…
Meng Mingxuan’s fingers trembled slightly.
She slowly withdrew her hands, didn’t say another word, and turned to leave the ward.
Cheng Anning felt something was wrong and quickly reached out to push Bai Chan.
Bai Chan nodded and followed her out.
“Miss…”
Meng Mingxuan leaned against the wall of the corridor, seeing Bai Chan looking at her with concern, she smiled.
Although Meng Mingxuan didn’t say a word, Bai Chan was sensitive since she was a child, how could she not see it?
Bai Chan hesitated for a moment, then cautiously stood beside Meng Mingxuan.
She reached out and gently held Meng Mingxuan’s arm.
Meng Mingxuan didn’t refuse Bai Chan’s kindness.
Her thoughts drifted back to the day she got her marriage certificate with Yin Ting.
“Xuanxuan, I printed an extra copy of our wedding photo.”
“Ah? Isn’t there one on the marriage certificate?”
Yin Ting’s face seemed to stiffen slightly, “The marriage certificate is very precious, it needs to be kept in the safe.”
She laughed, “I understand, you want to carry the wedding photo with you, you’re so clingy.”
Yin Ting looked at her for a while, then laughed along, “Yeah, I plan to cling to you for life.”
At that time, he must have taken his wedding photo with her to show his mother.
His real mother.
The one in the mental hospital.
The reason he didn’t take the marriage certificate directly was because he was afraid that his mother would tear it up when she had a breakdown.
But this action would make his mother be discovered.
Meng Mingxuan didn’t think about it anymore – she refused to think about it anymore.
…
On the way back, Xu Li noticed that his Miss was acting strangely.
It was like the calm before a storm.
He looked in the rearview mirror with a pounding heart, “Miss, are you okay?”
Wouldn’t she start arguing with Ninth Master as soon as she got back to the villa?
Meng Mingxuan had been sweating all day and felt uncomfortable.
She didn’t answer Xu Li, she closed her eyes and leaned back in the seat to rest.
Xu Li was worried.
Before they reached the villa, Xu Li received a call from Ninth Master.
“Ninth Master, yes, right, I’ve already picked up the Miss, we’re about to reach the villa gate, okay, yes, Ninth Master.”
Xu Li hung up the phone and looked in the rearview mirror again.
Meng Mingxuan was still closing her eyes.
It was as if she hadn’t heard Xu Li and Yan Mo Jiu’s phone call.
Xu Li’s heart sank: It’s over.
The Miss must have seen Yin Ting.
Yin Ting must have said bad things about Ninth Master again.
The Miss had only been good with Ninth Master for a few days!
It’s really true that the ex cries, and the current loses.
Damn the ex.
When Xu Li parked the car at the villa gate, he saw his Ninth Master walking over.
He quickly unlocked the car and rolled down the window.
“Mingxuan.”
Yan Mo Jiu opened the car door, bent down to unbuckle Meng Mingxuan’s seatbelt.
“We’re home.”
Meng Mingxuan opened her eyes and inhaled his scent, “You smoked.”
And quite a lot.
Wasn’t he working?
Yan Mo Jiu’s fingers paused, he carried her out of the car.
“You have a good nose.”
He carried her and walked towards the villa.
Meng Mingxuan was placed on the entrance rug, she watched the man stoop to take her little bear slippers from the shoe cabinet, his long, jade-like fingers went to unbuckle her shoe buckles.
She subconsciously shrank her foot.
Yan Mo Jiu’s fingers paused, but he still unbuckled them for her.
Then he stood up, “Put them on yourself.”
Meng Mingxuan didn’t put them on herself.
She looked at Yan Mo Jiu for a while, her nose felt a little sour.
“Ninth Brother.”
She suddenly threw herself into his arms, hugging his waist tightly.
