“If we don’t choose?” Nan Muran ignored the powerful aura radiating from Jin Tailin, and her tone even carried a hint of disdain.
Jin Tailin sneered when he heard this, his voice dripping with menace: “Since you three walked into this room, the choice is no longer yours.”
Upon hearing this, Nan Muran immediately focused her mental energy and scanned the corners of Room 909, realizing the problem.
Suddenly, she noticed that an invisible barrier seemed to have formed around the room, completely surrounding the three of them, cutting off all external forces.
“Did you create this encirclement with your mental energy?” Nan Muran looked at Jin Tailin, a little surprised. This was a type of ability she had never seen before.
Jin Tailin, hearing her question, was genuinely delighted. “You were not outstanding among the over ten thousand test subjects in the underground laboratory, yet it turns out you’re this clever.
No wonder you were the only ones to escape the control of the underground lab.”
Nan Muran ignored Jin Tailin’s praise and continued to ask, “Is this also a type of ability?”
Perhaps because Jin Tailin was too confident, he almost answered every question posed by Nan Muran and Si Ye. “I call it the encirclement. It’s a special mental ability.”
“Curious?”
“If you two come back with me to the underground lab, I’ll help you awaken more abilities, gain more power, and eventually kill those people, becoming the true rulers of this world.”
“This guy is seriously insane,” Si Ye said, looking at Jin Tailin with disdain.
Nan Muran curled her lips, equally disgusted. “I told you he’s crazy. But who are those people?”
“Those people are more terrifying than you can imagine.”
“You think I’m crazy? It’s fine. When we return to the underground lab, take some medicine, and you won’t care anymore.” Jin Tailin was completely unfazed by their judgment.
“Let’s fight.” Si Ye said coldly.
Nan Muran began evading the strange force around the room while focusing her mental energy, building pressure towards Jin Tailin.
Jin Tailin ignored the mental pressure coming from Nan Muran and smiled widely. “Whether you want to or not, you have no choice.”
The massive vine behind him could instantly seal their abilities, rendering them powerless against his encirclement. As ordinary people, there would be no doubt in the outcome of a fight against him.
So Jin Tailin’s goal from the start was to bring these two successful test subjects back to the underground lab, to create more success with them.
Upon feeling the mental pressure from Nan Muran, a thick vine shot out from behind Jin Tailin.
The vine rapidly attacked Nan Muran and Si Ye.
Nan Muran sensed her abilities being restricted and was forced to draw out a dagger.
The small white creature on her left wrist swiftly shot out and entangled with the massive vine. “Si Ye, you handle small white, and block it.”
At the same time, Nan Muran dodged the vine’s attack and moved forward rapidly, heading straight for Jin Tailin.
Jin Tailin stared in disbelief as the small white creature suddenly shot out from Nan Muran’s wrist. He was surprised that something could be unaffected by the massive vine.
While Jin Tailin was stunned, Nan Muran had already closed the distance.
The dagger slashed through his arm, and she grabbed the wound directly. Vital energy began to surge from Nan Muran’s delicate hand, rapidly draining Jin Tailin’s life force at an eerie pace.
Actually, Nan Muran should thank Jin Tailin.
Thanks to his remark, she realized that the vital energy might help her undo the restriction from the massive vine. After all, the last time, when she detonated her mental ability in the final moments, the vine had been present, and her abilities hadn’t been affected.
“This is life energy,” Jin Tailin said, his eyes wide in surprise as he watched the white-green life force swirl in Nan Muran’s hand.
Life energy was indeed unaffected by the massive vine.
Nan Muran said nothing, speeding up her work.
Suddenly, Jin Tailin saw himself in the mirror nearby. His once vibrant self had aged more than ten years, looking even older than he had five years after the underground lab experiments.
“Vine, come back!” Jin Tailin’s face changed dramatically.
Last time in the underground lab, Nan Muran’s life energy had generated endless power, making her other abilities unaffected, rendering the massive vine useless in her presence.
This time, she had quickly grasped the trick.
The vine seemed to grow eyes as it swiftly retreated.
The massive tail immediately coiled around Nan Muran, throwing her across the room.
Si Ye quickly jumped over and caught Nan Muran, stabilizing her.
“Are you okay? Did you get hurt?” Si Ye asked urgently.
“I’m fine. Don’t let him go.”
The two quickly stood up, pulling out their guns and starting to shoot relentlessly at Jin Tailin.
The bullets hit the invisible barrier, falling to the ground as they struck Jin Tailin’s energy wall.
Nan Muran tried using her abilities again, but the influence of the vine was still too strong.
It seemed that even with the life energy helping her, her abilities were still restricted by the vine.
“We have to deal with this vine.” Nan Muran’s tone was firm.
It was just a level six mutated plant, and it was already limiting her and Si Ye. If the vine fully grew, things would only get worse.
Having made a decision, their focus shifted entirely to the vine. Nan Muran also released small white.
The two, along with small white, began battling the massive vine. Jin Tailin, watching them, realized what they were planning.
The massive vine was his greatest support, and he could not afford to let anything happen to it. The last time, when he encountered the vine in the mountains, he had been unable to control it.
He had fed it thousands of ability users and invested countless efforts before he had barely subdued it.
This time, he had found it first and immediately subdued it. Now, the vine carried his hopes of controlling the world, and nothing could go wrong.
Jin Tailin began desperately using his encirclement to continuously restrict Nan Muran and Si Ye’s movements, preventing them from harming the vine.
Unfortunately, he couldn’t stop small white. It seemed to be completely unaffected by the abilities, even more agile than the vine.
As the two vines intertwined, small white began to rapidly contract its body until it became an extremely thin thread, tightening abruptly.
Bright green blood began to flow from the vine.
“Let it go.” Jin Tailin’s face changed as he saw the vine being harmed, and he paused the encirclement for a moment. In that instant, Si Ye’s dagger pierced through his defense and aimed straight for his neck.
It seemed that Jin Tailin was about to be completely dealt with.
Suddenly, Si Ye changed direction, abandoning the attempt to kill Jin Tailin. He threw himself at Nan Muran, who was fully focused on fighting.
As the two rolled to the side, countless sniper rifle barrels appeared at the spot where they had been standing.
“There’s a sniper.” Si Ye tightened his grip on Nan Muran, his voice tense with fear.
If they had been a second later, the consequences would have been unimaginable.
At the same time, small white sensed a powerful control force that stopped it from continuing its attack, preventing it from severing the vine further.
“There’s a sniper on the opposite rooftop.” Hearing the gunshots, Jia Wu and the Eagle immediately reacted.
“Eagle, leave Jin behind. I’ll go after them.” Jia Wu used his speed ability to rush toward the opposite rooftop, while at the same time, a lean, black figure shot out from Room 15 on the upper floor, heading straight for the opposite building.
