Apocalypse: Living the Good Life Deep in the Mountains Chapter 120: The Boss Lady’s Sudden Cry

“Sister, don’t worry, just eat and enjoy the show. With these two handsome gentlemen keeping watch for you, you’re safe.” Liu Mei pointed to two sharply dressed men in suits and smiled at the woman in the main seat, Nan Muran.

Nan Muran smiled and nodded.

Although she couldn’t figure out the woman’s true abilities, the other party seemed to be showing goodwill, so she chose to respond graciously.

As a psychic ability user, she could sense that the other person’s fondness for her was genuine. However, it was a bit strange and unexpected.

Though there were twelve men standing up to provoke Xing Chen, appearing numerous and intimidating, they still had no chance against a Level 5 peak control-type psychic like him.

Soon, the twelve men, having experienced many ups and downs, were left bloodied on the ground. None of them died, but none were intact either. They looked as though they had been broken like worn-out dolls.

Xing Chen gestured to the woman across from him. “Yin Yue, sit down and enjoy your meal first.”

He paid no attention to these pathetic, powerless scoundrels.

What truly made him wary were the nine people silently watching the show, including Nan Muran.

Clearly, they had come for the fruit from the forest behind. Although they didn’t match him in terms of ability level, Nan Muran was a Level 5 psychic with exceptional skills, and psychic users could slay opponents above their level. In a one-on-one situation, Xing Chen wasn’t sure he could win, especially when they had nine people, each strong in their own right.

But the fruit tree offered a unique ability-enhancing resource, and the organization needed it desperately. He could not afford to give up. Otherwise, it would be impossible to explain when he returned.

Noticing Xing Chen’s apparent displeasure, Yin Yue reluctantly sat down. But the overwhelming scent of blood in the air made her lose any appetite.

Liu Mei remained indifferent, watching the show with a smile, though her gaze had clearly grown sharper.

She hadn’t expected this seemingly gentle man to possess such power.

Meanwhile, in the hotel lobby downstairs, many who had previously wanted to challenge the influential guests now showed fear in their eyes after witnessing Xing Chen’s methods.

Only Nan Muran and her group seemed unsurprised, unaffected by the bloody scene, and continued eating.

A Level 5 peak control-type psychic could easily handle a dozen or more Level 2 or 3 psychics. If it were Nan Muran, a psychic, she would have handled it even more effortlessly and certainly would have left no survivors.

“The furniture’s still intact, but the carpet is stained with blood everywhere. Cleaning it will take some effort,” Liu Mei’s voice floated.

Yin Yue, sitting across from Xing Chen, wanted to retort, but before she could, Xing Chen calmly put down his chopsticks, stood up, and said, “I’ll cover the cost of cleaning the lobby. Just send the bill to my room.”

Watching as Xing Chen and Yin Yue left, Nan Muran couldn’t help but wonder if she should take this opportunity to deal with him directly, to avoid unnecessary trouble tomorrow when they went to pick the fruit.

In a one-on-one fight with Xing Chen, Nan Muran felt confident she could win.

“Do you know those two?” Liu Mei’s voice carried a hint of interest.

Nan Muran smiled and glanced at Liu Mei, not responding.

Liu Mei saw her knowing look and sighed, then suddenly smiled, her laughter seductive, “I do love handsome men. It’d be great if they stayed at my hotel.”

“Stay at the hotel?” Nan Muran couldn’t help but ask.

Liu Mei’s choice of words was quite clever. It was hard to tell whether they were being imprisoned or if they had volunteered to stay.

Liu Mei nodded, pointing to some nearby staff and security in suits. “Just like them. They stay here, don’t worry about food or clothes, and they can cultivate as well. Isn’t it wonderful? Handsome man, are you interested?”

Her words were directed at Han Yingtian.

Actually, Liu Mei was more interested in the 1.9-meter tall, perfectly built man with the stunning face who was next to Nan Muran. Unfortunately, he was already taken, but the one with him was still decent enough, so she thought asking wouldn’t hurt.

“Sorry,” Han Yingtian replied, smiling awkwardly, feeling a little embarrassed.

Liu Mei frowned at his response, gave him a flirtatious eye-roll, and walked away. “You’re no fun.”

Han Yingtian shivered, unable to deny that this boss, Liu Mei, was incredibly charming.

“We’ve got food and drinks, and it’s safe here. Not a bad deal, huh?” Xi Xi teased, glancing at his captain.

“I think it’s fine too,” Cheng Cheng chuckled, not holding back.

Logically speaking, Liu Mei should have been interested in the boss of the wild crew, so why was she targeting Han Yingtian?

They continued to joke around and eat, then made plans to return to their rooms and rest so they could head to the forest early the next day to find the fruit tree.

The hotel only had six floors, and since they needed four suites, they were staying on the top floor, the sixth.

After exiting the elevator on the sixth floor, they walked down a short corridor.

Nan Muran and her group’s rooms were on the east side, while the other side was blocked by a large, heavy bronze-colored door with intricate carvings.

“This place feels strange,” the Eagle frowned.

Nan Muran tried to sense the area using her psychic abilities but only felt chaos, with no clear imagery.

“It should be the boss lady’s private quarters,” Shi Wu speculated, using his sharp sense of smell. After all, Liu Mei’s scent was quite unique.

After a brief discussion, they didn’t bother investigating further.

Jia Wu, Eagle, and Qi Jin were sharing a suite, while Nan Muran and Si Ye were in a different suite.

After settling in, Si Ye moved a bed from the bedroom to the living room. “You take the bedroom, and I’ll sleep in the living room.”

“Alright,” Nan Muran said, used to his thoughtfulness. She smiled and nodded before heading into the bathroom for a shower.

After the shower, Nan Muran wore her usual loose knit sleepwear, though today it was a softer, light brown color.

Seeing her damp long hair, Si Ye habitually stood up, reached into his bag, and pulled out the hair dryer he had prepared in the morning. “Come sit on the sofa. I’ll dry your hair.”

His long fingers brushed through her hair, the sensation of gentle touch sending a slight tingle through her.

Nan Muran leaned comfortably on the sofa, closed her eyes, and let herself relax, enjoying Si Ye’s careful service.

Perhaps because of how wronged she felt in her past life, Nan Muran no longer settled for anything and enjoyed every moment she could.

She still took care of her curls and regularly did hair treatments. But, for some reason, over time, these tasks became Si Ye’s responsibility. He had gone from being unfamiliar with it to doing it so smoothly and happily, without a hint of impatience.

Suddenly, a woman’s loud cry echoed, her voice filled with an inexplicable tone.

“What’s going on?” Nan Muran was startled.

Si Ye also set down the hair dryer.

“It sounds like it came from the boss lady’s side.”
