Li Xin visited the Liu family again and discovered…
Chang Wu and Chang You saw Li Xin coming out and immediately rushed to him. “Li Ye, how is it?”
Li Xin weakly collapsed on the sofa and motioned for Chang Wu to pour him some water. “Same as before, it still needs recovery.”
Chang You asked again, “Is it serious?”
“Compared to the first three, it’s better,” Li Xin sighed, then thought of the Red Jade Heavenly Soul in the Underworld. “Yesterday I helped the Liu family dispel the evil, expending some of my spiritual power. Once I recover, I’ll go to the Underworld again.”
“The Underworld?” Chang Wu asked while handing the cup to Li Xin. “Why go there for no reason? Don’t forget you’re an escaped soul. If they catch you, you’ll be sent straight to the hell of endless torture.”
Li Xin, of course, knew the dangers.
Many years ago, he practiced forbidden arts that allowed his soul to leave his body and enter the body of a recently deceased infant. A cycle of reincarnation would repeat every sixty years, causing him to transcend the cycle of life and death. As these new vessels grew, their appearances would bear some resemblance to his original form, which led to the Liu family being passed down through the generations.
“It’s fine, I know what I’m doing,” Li Xin took several deep drinks of water. “I’ll go rest in my room now. Don’t bother calling me for lunch.”
After saying that, he handed the empty cup to Chang Wu and went back to his room.
A few days later, on a deep night, Li Xin’s mountain-top villa received a phone call informing him that Old Master Liu had suddenly developed heart palpitations and was undergoing emergency treatment at the hospital.
Liu Cheng paid a high price, and within a few days, his father had another crisis. In a fit of rage, he spoke very harshly.
Chang You hung up the phone, feeling his ears ringing. He didn’t dare to repeat the words to Li Xin and only said that Old Master Liu was not doing well again.
Li Xin calculated for a moment and furrowed his brow. “It’s another ‘new illness.'”
“Li Ye, what do you plan to do?” Chang You asked.
Li Xin lightly snorted. “The evil has been dispelled, but the karmic debt remains.”
“Didn’t you say that he often does good deeds and has deep blessings?” Chang You was confused. “Even if he had karmic debt before, it should have been offset by now.”
“That’s what you’d think, but it depends on whether the creditors are willing to forgive him,” Li Xin’s eyes darkened, and he instructed Chang You, “Get Chang Wu, and let’s go to the hospital.”
“Okay, Li Ye,” Chang You replied, then went to call his brother.
Half an hour later, Li Xin, Chang You, and Chang Wu arrived at the hospital where Old Master Liu was.
Old Master Liu had just been saved but was now in critical care, lying pale and covered in tubes, looking almost as if he had passed away.
Liu Cheng and his sister Liu Yan were standing outside the ICU, looking devastated.
When they saw Li Xin arrive, Liu Cheng stormed over, grabbing Li Xin by the collar and demanding, “Didn’t you say my father’s evil had been dispelled? Why is this happening? You’re a fraud, a quack!”
Chang You immediately stepped forward, trying to pull Liu Cheng’s hand off. “President Liu, calm down. Li Ye’s methods have always worked. It’s just that your father’s karmic debt is too heavy, and some of the creditors won’t let him off.”
“What nonsense are you talking about?” Liu Cheng snapped. “My father donates so much money every year. Where does this karmic debt come from?”
“Can you please let go? Li Ye is here to help solve your family’s problem,” Chang Wu also stepped forward.
Unlike his older brother, Chang Wu was less calm and grabbed Liu Cheng’s wrist, forcing him to release his grip with a painful twist.
“You… You still dare to have the bodyguards move?” Liu Cheng, furious, glared at Li Xin.
Li Xin gave Liu Cheng a cold glance and straightened his collar. “How do you know your father hasn’t done anything wrong?”
“Stop making excuses. I trusted you, and you’re playing me like this?” Liu Cheng clutched his wrist, nearly crushed by Chang Wu’s grip.
Li Xin snorted, “After dispelling the evil, didn’t your father improve?”
Liu Cheng was speechless. Since Li Xin left, his father had indeed woken up and appeared much better.
Liu Yan, seeing that Liu Cheng was silent, angrily walked up. “You’re still slandering my father. It’s because we trusted this charlatan that my father ended up like this.”
Li Xin snorted again, “Your father’s karmic debt is difficult to eliminate, and he’s being tormented by vengeful spirits. All I can do is help him dispel the evil. As for whether the creditors are willing to let him go, that’s beyond my control.”
“You’re just making excuses!” Liu Yan shouted at Li Xin.
The nurse wanted to warn them to lower their voices, but no one dared to approach. After all, the Liu family was also a shareholder in the hospital, and no one wanted to lose their job.
“Whether it’s an excuse or not, once your father wakes up, you can ask him,” Li Xin said, turning to leave.
Liu Cheng, seeing this, immediately blocked Li Xin’s path. “Where are you going?”
“Since you don’t trust me, there’s no use in me staying here. I won’t be an eyesore,” Li Xin pushed Liu Cheng’s hand aside and tried to walk away.
Liu Cheng quickly softened his tone. “I’ll trust you once more. Please, Master Li, help us.”
Li Xin was angry at how the Liu family treated him, and even angrier at the vengeful spirit ruining his reputation.
He sighed, suppressing his anger. “Take me to your home.”
Liu Cheng gave Liu Yan a look, signaling her to calm down. Then he led Li Xin back to the Liu family villa.
Upon entering the villa, Li Xin immediately felt a chill, even though the windows weren’t open, he could still feel the cold wind.
He immediately confirmed that it was a vengeful spirit seeking revenge, and asked Liu Cheng, “Your father didn’t have heart palpitations before?”
“No,” Liu Cheng said darkly, looking defeated. “He was fine before. He’s been eating more lately, but tonight, after he fell asleep, he had a nightmare. After waking up, he started talking nonsense. When we found him, he was already on the floor.”
“What did he say?”
“What… don’t look for me, look for him. Haven’t I done enough? … What… what did he say?” Liu Cheng tried to recall.
“These are what the nurse and I were told. I don’t know the specifics. Should I call him over?”
“No need, I’ll ask him myself,” Li Xin replied and went straight upstairs to Old Liu’s room.
“Who?” Liu Cheng asked in confusion, following behind.
“The vengeful ghost,” Li Xin paused and turned to Liu Cheng, “Are you sure you want to come up and listen?”
Liu Cheng immediately shuddered and swallowed hard, “Of course, but don’t try any tricks.”
Li Xin smiled lightly and called for Chang You and Chang Wu, “You two, set up a barrier later to prevent the vengeful ghost from harming him.”
“Understood, Li Ye.”
Hearing this, Liu Cheng broke into a cold sweat. But since he had said so, he couldn’t back out. He was curious to see what trick Li Xin would pull next.
When they arrived at Old Liu’s room, the chilling atmosphere was even more obvious. Cold gusts of wind blew across their faces, but Li Xin sensed a familiar aura.
He was a bit incredulous, closing his eyes to once again feel the cold wind swirling around the room.
The air in the room was very chaotic, but the familiar feeling grew stronger. His expression became serious as he slowly opened his eyes and, in a low voice, commanded, “Come out.”
Liu Cheng, Chang You, and Chang Wu, who were standing outside the door, immediately knew Li Xin had detected the vengeful ghost.
They quickly took out a talisman and stuck it to Liu Cheng’s forehead, then stepped forward to stand in front of him.
Liu Cheng was completely confused by this sequence of actions, “What are you doing?”
Chang Wu turned around and made a shushing gesture, “If you don’t want to die, keep quiet.”
Seeing his serious expression, Liu Cheng instinctively covered his mouth and silently watched what was happening in the room.
Li Xin waited for a while, but when nothing appeared, he took a deep breath, “Come out. Don’t make me force you.”
Still no response.
Li Xin’s patience was running out, and he sneered, “Stubborn.”
As soon as he finished speaking, Li Xin quickly formed a seal with his hands, closed his eyes, and recited an incantation. When he opened his eyes again, a golden, shining seal appeared before him, blindingly bright.
“Show yourself!”
Li Xin shouted, and the seal shot towards a corner of the room, with a loud bang as if it struck something, then dispersed into the air.
A tattered female ghost appeared in the room. She had long, disheveled hair and a delicate face, but her lower body was covered in blood. Each step she took left bloody footprints on the ground.
“Heavenly Master, why are you so heartless?” The female ghost’s voice was eerie, sounding like both a cry and a laugh.
Li Xin turned to face the ghost, his eyes sharp and fierce, sending a chill down one’s spine, “Tell me, how do you carry his aura?”
“Who?”
“Don’t play dumb with me. Speak!” Li Xin said, preparing to take action again.
The female ghost knew she wasn’t a match for him, but she wasn’t afraid. She stood still, unmoving, “Heavenly Master, you must think carefully. If you use this move, you will not only harm me.”
Li Xin’s hands flared with flames, but upon hearing this, he immediately stopped, “You’re threatening me.”
“I wouldn’t dare. I’m just reminding you not to do something you will regret,” the female ghost smiled faintly, her expression filled with provocation as she looked at Li Xin.
Li Xin had seen countless demons and ghosts in his time, but it was rare to encounter one so unaware of its fate.
However, he was helpless because she had indeed exposed her own weakness—this female ghost had the aura of the Chi Yu (Red Jade) Soul.
She must have the Red Jade’s soul within her.
