Bound to the Ghost Officer Chapter 20: Night of Terror in the Mountain Village (Part 6)

The four of them found Huang Dangjia and asked…

Li Xin let out a cold snort, “Now you remember to ask? It’s too late!”

As soon as the words left his mouth, Li Xin grabbed the little yellow weasel by the neck. Before it could react, he gave a slight twist of his hand and threw it heavily to the ground, turning it back to its original form.

“You… who exactly are you?” the other little yellow weasels, trembling on the altar, asked.

“Kneel down, and I might spare your lives,” Li Xin’s eyes darkened, his presence radiating a murderous aura that terrified the little yellow weasels.

“You… don’t get too cocky. When my grandfather comes, he’ll take your dog life!” The little yellow weasel, now back to its original form, continued to speak arrogantly.

“Your grandfather?” Li Xin snorted, turning to glare at the weasel on the ground.

“My grandfather is the head of the Huang family in this mountain. He has boundless magical powers. If you dare act recklessly again, he won’t let you off!”

“Is that so?” Li Xin smiled sinisterly, slowly walking towards the little yellow weasel. He stepped on its tail with his foot.

Ah—ah—

The little yellow weasel screamed in pain, still cursing, “You damned bastard! When my grandfather comes, he’ll make sure you die horribly.”

“You little beast still dares to speak arrogantly,” Li Xin’s foot stomped down heavily on it again.

The little yellow weasel trembled violently, then shouted to its companions on the altar, “What are you all waiting for? Hurry up and save me… beat him, beat him!”

Li Xin sneered, “Just them?”

He turned to the little yellow weasels on the altar, “Come over here. I’m hungry. I might skin you all and roast you, see how fresh you taste.”

“You… stop being arrogant!” One of the little yellow weasels on the altar bared its teeth and leaped toward Li Xin.

Li Xin waved his hand, sending it flying with a slap.

The other little yellow weasels, seeing this, exchanged glances and decided to attack together, all leaping toward Li Xin.

Li Xin pulled out a talisman, chanted a few incantations, and threw the talisman at the group of little yellow weasels.

A flash of golden light appeared, and the talisman transformed into a net, trapping them all inside.

“With this little skill, you still dare to act up in front of me?” Li Xin crouched down, lifting the little yellow weasel he had stepped on by the tail. “You go in too.”

He threw it into the net created by the talisman.

After doing all this, Li Xin softly said to Chi Yu, “Senior brother, I’ve dealt with it. Come over.”

Chi Yu responded with a hum and walked over with Chang Wuchang.

“These little things probably have no magic powers, and they can’t tell us much. We should let them take us to their grandfather,” Chi Yu said, looking at the weasels in the net.

“You’re right, senior brother,” Li Xin replied, then turned to ask the weasels, “Where is your grandfather?”

The little yellow weasels squeaked nervously, too afraid to speak.

“Speak quickly,” Li Xin urged, “If you don’t, I’ll eat you all.”

“No…”

“Don’t eat us, we’re not tasty…”

“Great Immortal, spare us. We know we were wrong, just let us go.”

The little yellow weasels begged in terror.

“Now you’re scared?” Li Xin smiled coldly, “Then quickly tell me, where is your grandfather?”

“In… in the mountains,” one of the little yellow weasels said, trembling.

“Which mountain? How do we get there?” Li Xin’s face darkened as he glared at them coldly.

The little yellow weasels, too scared to refuse, pointed to the tall mountain behind Li Xin. “It’s… over there.”

Li Xin looked in the direction they pointed, seeing only a towering mountain in the pitch-black night.

He kicked the net on the ground. “Lead the way. When we get to your grandfather, I’ll let you go.”

The little yellow weasels, unable to resist, nodded repeatedly. “Okay, you better keep your word.”

“Don’t worry. You’re of no use to me. Your smell is unbearable,” Li Xin waved his hand in front of his nose.

“Chang Wu,” he pointed to the weasels on the ground, “Take them along.”

Chang Wu nodded and stepped forward, lifting the net and walking ahead.

“Don’t move,” Chang Wu warned the weasels in the net, then asked, “Which way?”

“This way,” one of the little yellow weasels pointed to a narrow path.

Li Xin nodded to indicate Chang Wu to lead the way, then held Chi Yu’s hand, following behind him. Chang Wu walked at the back, and the group followed the narrow path into the depths of the forest.

They walked for about a few miles before reaching the foot of the mountain. Li Xin asked, “Is this the place?”

“Yes, our Huang family cultivates here,” one of the little yellow weasels answered.

Li Xin helped Chi Yu sit on a large rock, then instructed Chang Wu, “Take one of them and send it up the mountain to bring the old yellow-skinned one down.”

“Yes, Master Li,” Chang Wu replied, and with a wave of his hand, he pulled out a smaller yellow-skinned creature from the net.

“Hurry up and call your grandfather down here. We’ll wait for him,” Chang Wu said as he threw the small yellow-skinned creature onto the ground.

The small yellow-skinned creature rolled a few times before standing up and quickly ran up the mountain.

Chi Yu sat on the large rock and tugged at Li Xin’s sleeve. “Li Xin, the Soul-Chasing Disk seems to be reacting.”

Li Xin immediately crouched down. “Quick, take it out and have a look.”

Chi Yu took out the Soul-Chasing Disk from his bag. The needle on the disk wavered a few times before pointing to the mountain where the Huang family lived.

“Could my fragmentary soul be in the hands of the Huang family?” Chi Yu speculated.

Li Xin glared at the group of yellow-skinned creatures. “We’ll find out once we ask.”

Li Xin stood up and walked towards them, his expression grim as he smirked. “When will that kid be back?”

The small yellow-skinned creatures exchanged glances but didn’t dare respond.

“It’s been a while. How about I kill one to pass the time? I’m starving,” Li Xin said as he drew his dagger and played with it in his hands.

“Master, please spare us. We smell terrible, it will spoil your appetite,” the yellow-skinned creatures begged.

“Yes, Master, we’re not tasty…” they added, trembling.

The creatures were terrified. “It’ll be soon, it’ll be soon. Master, please wait a little longer, our grandfather will be here soon.”

Li Xin, seeing their fearful demeanor, snorted softly. “But I’m bored. Your grandfather isn’t here yet, what should I do?”

“Master, please spare us, we can entertain you,” one of the small yellow-skinned creatures begged, nearly crying.

Li Xin chuckled lightly. “Alright, if you can make me happy, I won’t eat you.”

“Yes, yes, thank you, Master, thank you, Master!” The yellow-skinned creatures were relieved. “Master, tell us what you want to talk about, we know everything.”

Seeing they were cooperative, Li Xin sheathed his dagger. “Then tell me about some interesting things in this mountain.”

“I know, I know,” one of the yellow-skinned creatures spoke up first.

“Alright, you go first,” Li Xin pointed at it. “Tell me, are there any ghosts in this mountain?”

“There are some wandering souls and wild ghosts.”

“Is there a fragmentary soul, incomplete, with only one soul left?” Li Xin asked.

The yellow-skinned creatures looked at each other and shook their heads. “No, there isn’t. If only one soul remained, it probably wouldn’t last long before it dissipates.”

“Really?”

“Really, we would never lie to you, Master.”

Li Xin narrowed his eyes, his gaze growing darker. “Do you really not know, or are you not telling me the truth?”

“We really don’t know,” the yellow-skinned creatures trembled, “Master, what we’re saying is true, we’ve never seen such a thing.”

“Is that so?”

Li Xin drew his dagger again, the blade glinting coldly in the moonlight. “Maybe I should just eat one. It’s getting boring.”

“No, please… help…!” the yellow-skinned creatures panicked, scattering in fear, but Li Xin paid no attention to their cries.

He raised his net, ready to strike.

“Wait!”

A deep, loud voice rang out from the forest. The yellow-skinned creatures looked excitedly in the direction of the voice.

“Grandfather, grandfather, save us, quickly save us…”

Li Xin also turned toward the voice, and slowly, an elderly man appeared from the mountain.

His hair was graying, his back hunched, and he leaned on a cane that was taller than him, shouting as he walked, “Don’t harm my grandchildren. If you have a problem, take it up with me.”

In the blink of an eye, the old man was in front of Li Xin, reaching out to grab the net from his hands.

Li Xin quickly dodged, allowing the old man to grab nothing.

“You must be the head of the Huang family, right?” Li Xin tossed the net to Chang Wu.

The old man, recognizing the magic symbols on the net, understood they were not ordinary people, so he lowered his hand and nodded. “Indeed, I am. May I ask why the Taoist Master is capturing my grandchildren?”

Li Xin saw he recognized his identity as a Taoist Master and showed no signs of aggression, so he relaxed his guard. “Greetings, Head of the Huang family. We’re here to find something. On the way, we encountered your grandchildren, and they were being rude, so I just gave them a little warning.”

Huang’s head understood and nodded. “I see. In that case, I apologize on behalf of my impolite grandchildren. Please forgive them, and I ask that you return them to me. If the Taoist Master ever needs anything from the Huang family, please do not hesitate to ask, and we will do our utmost to assist.”

Li Xin, seeing his clear-headedness, smiled and gave Chang Wu a look.

Chang Wu understood, immediately chanting a spell, and the net that had trapped the yellow-skinned creatures disappeared. Freed, the creatures quickly ran to Huang’s side, each crying out “Grandfather.”

Huang patted his grandchildren to calm them, then turned back to Li Xin and bowed. “Thank you, Taoist Master.”

“No need for thanks,” Li Xin helped Huang’s head up. “Actually, we have something to ask you. I wonder if you can help us?”

“Please, Taoist Master, speak.”

At this point, Chi Yu also walked over and spoke before Li Xin, “Is there a fragmentary soul with cultivation in this mountain?”
