☆ Chapter 6
To Ling Shaoze’s surprise, he didn’t see the Pervert Y when he got off the spaceship at the Violet Star District spaceport.
Not even in the transfer hall.
While waiting for the transfer, Ling Shaoze couldn’t resist pulling Pervert Y out of the blacklist again and sending a message: “Are you still following me?”
It wasn’t that Ling Shaoze actually wanted to see Pervert Y, but rather that “not” seeing him felt like having a sword hanging over his head—he didn’t know when it might drop. It made him anxious.
He Yi, who had changed his outfit and even used a bio-disguise on his face, was actually watching Ling Shaoze from not far away.
Such a disguise, just to sneakily follow the young man and stare at him like some obsessive stalker… Yeah, his behavior really was perverted. No wonder the little guy was so freaked out.
If he wanted to win the boy over, he’d have to slowly change the image the boy had of him in his mind. Even if he was a pervert, he had to hide it better. He couldn’t let the boy always see him that way.
After thinking it over, He Yi replied: “I’ve got something to take care of and will be heading somewhere else soon. But it’s still easy for me to find out where you are and what you’re doing. As long as you stick to our agreement—not getting involved with anyone else (including xxx robots) for the next year—I’ll also try not to interfere in your real life.”
It wasn’t that He Yi liked writing long messages, but he was afraid that if he didn’t say everything in one go, Ling Shaoze would probably block him again after reading just the first reply.
When Ling Shaoze saw the first sentence of the message, he automatically assumed Pervert Y had already left and wasn’t following him anymore. He instantly felt relieved—completely unaware that the place the man was going next to was exactly the same as his: Shuilan Star.
And what’s more, the guy had even guessed that he was planning to buy the robot No. 1 from the xxx brand—and explicitly forbade it!
Damn, wasn’t this way too controlling?! Not even a real husband would be this strict.
As for that final promise… it didn’t even seem that convincing. He only said he’d try, not that he definitely would.
Right now, Ling Shaoze was filled with regret—deep, overwhelming regret.
But there was no point dwelling on it. After all, it wasn’t like he could just go find someone to have a wild night with, just to test whether Pervert Y would actually break the poor guy’s legs.
Fuming, Ling Shaoze blocked Pervert Y once again!
To dare block the personal communication number of the Empire’s distinguished Marshal multiple times—he was probably the first ever to do so.
Not far away, the perfectly disguised Marshal He didn’t get angry at all. Instead, he thought: …The little guy looks so cute when he’s mad, like a tiny sun.
Before long, the two of them boarded the spaceship heading toward Shuilan Star, one after the other.
Once on board, He Yi received detailed information about Ling Shaoze from his adjutant, Qi Rong.
The first thing He Yi noticed was the age listed under Ling Shaoze’s name.
He already knew the boy was young—he had figured that much when he asked about it while Ling Shaoze was lying on the infirmary bed and found out he was still a student at Anno University. But seeing that the kid was only twenty years old, He Yi couldn’t help but cough awkwardly.
In Zhuo Yingbai’s words: he was definitely an old cow eating tender grass!
He continued reading.
Ling Shaoze’s background was about what He Yi had expected: his family was wealthy, but not particularly powerful.
However, the next piece of information truly shocked He Yi—
Ling Shaoze was the junior schoolmate of his youngest grandnephew, He Yuteng. When Ling Shaoze had first entered university two years ago, he had fallen in love at first sight with He Yuteng after He Yuteng had helped him resolve a minor issue. Since then, Ling Shaoze had been a devoted pursuer of He Yuteng.
It turned out that Ling Shaoze had attended Old Master He’s birthday banquet a few days ago because of an invitation from He Yuteng.
What’s more, the potent aphrodisiac drug CY5211 that Ling Shaoze had secretly purchased through special channels—he had deliberately mixed it into his own wine. Before drinking it, he had even confirmed exactly which room on the second floor He Yuteng would be resting in…
It was a scheme suggested by his good-for-nothing friends: to “cook the rice while it’s hot”[1]i.e., make things happen by force, and then pressure He Yuteng into taking responsibility.
The Ling family owned a large new energy mining planet in the Northern Cross Star District, and Ling Shaoze’s father, Ling Changyao, was the de facto head of the family. After three or four decades of accumulating immense wealth, the Ling family had firmly established itself in the business world. Although they couldn’t compare to a top-tier aristocratic family like the He family, they were still considered a rising power in the commercial sphere—not an easy target to mess with.
The He family’s situation, however, was a lot more complicated and unique.
The head of the He family, He Zhengxin, and his wife Qin Rui had two children. Their eldest son, He Can, had died on the battlefield in his thirties. At the time, He Can hadn’t married or left behind any descendants—only some sperm preserved in the gene bank.
Due to Qin Rui’s poor health and difficulty in conceiving, He Zhengxin used He Can’s preserved sperm along with a donated egg, and with the help of an artificial womb technology, they had a grandson, He Ancheng.
However, He Ancheng, born from artificial gestation, turned out to be lacking both in talent and character. He was a spoiled hedonist with a highly indulgent and reckless private life—clearly unfit to inherit the He family legacy.
Aside from his third son, who was born to the legal wife the He family had arranged for him to marry, all of He Ancheng’s other children were illegitimate, each from a different mother.
He Yuteng was He Ancheng’s seventh child, the youngest, and also an illegitimate child. Among all of He Ancheng’s illegitimate offspring, He Yuteng’s mother had the lowest background—she was merely a bar hostess.
Not long after He Yuteng was born, He Ancheng’s legal wife poisoned him, rendering him completely infertile, and then divorced him.
If that hadn’t happened, the He family might have ended up with even more illegitimate descendants from different women.
Back when it became clear that He Ancheng was not only poor in aptitude but was also irredeemable in character, and after he had already fathered a second illegitimate child, Qin Rui nursed her health back, and with the help of fertility-treatment drugs, conceived a second son herself—He Yi.
Today, within the He family, He Yi was recognized as the true heir.
Even if something were to happen to He Yi, the third son born to He Ancheng’s legal wife, He Yuqin, was considered the next most outstanding and legitimate successor; he had already achieved the rank of Major in the military.
He Yuteng, on the other hand, had a low status within the He family. His carefree and debauched nature had thoroughly displeased both the elders, He Zhengxin and Qin Rui.
Ling Shaoze, on the other hand, had never dated anyone before—he was still a blank slate. His father, Ling Changyao, loved and cherished his only son dearly.
If Ling Shaoze had really gotten involved with He Yuteng, and even moved out of the Ling family home because of it, the He family would probably have been forced to grant Ling Shaoze a formal status through marriage.
But it would have only been a title—nothing more.
He Yuteng’s promiscuity even surpassed that of his father, He Ancheng. The only difference was that He Yuteng preferred men, so as long as he wasn’t fooling around with men who had undergone body modification surgeries, he at least wouldn’t leave behind a trail of illegitimate children.
What terrible taste Ling Shaoze had!
For the sake of so-called “love,” or perhaps in hopes of latching onto the He family’s power, was he really willing to throw away his own future happiness?
However, judging from the actual outcome of events, after drinking the wine he himself had spiked with CY5211, Ling Shaoze had seemed a little dazed but still relatively clear-headed.
Yet instead of going to the second-floor lounge to find He Yuteng as originally planned, he went to the restroom first—and then to the back garden.
He Yi was quite certain that Ling Shaoze had not recognized his true identity; otherwise, he wouldn’t have dared to treat him so fearlessly.
When He Yi offered to take responsibility, Ling Shaoze had reacted as if he were facing a terrible plague, desperate to avoid him.
Among the information Qi Rong had compiled, there was even a video attached showing Ling Shaoze’s encounter with He Yuteng in the elevator the next day at noon, after the birthday banquet.
Ling Shaoze’s change in attitude toward He Yuteng was striking.
It was no exaggeration to say that before the birthday banquet, Ling Shaoze had been extremely eager, cautious, and determined in his pursuit of He Yuteng. A simple smile or a casual pat on the back from He Yuteng would have made him overjoyed.
But by the next day after the banquet, even the way Ling Shaoze looked at He Yuteng was full of obvious disgust and indifference.
And as soon as he left the He family residence, Ling Shaoze immediately contacted his assistant to arrange for a school transfer and booked a flight to leave the Imperial Capital Star.
Clearly, this wasn’t just an attempt to avoid a one-night-stand situation.
Before boarding the spaceship bound for Violet Star, Ling Shaoze had even blacklisted He Yuteng—and all the old good-for-nothing so-called friends he used to have.
It was obvious that Ling Shaoze had no intention whatsoever of having anything more to do with He Yuteng.
Not only had Ling Shaoze’s attitude toward He Yuteng changed, but his entire view on relationships had shifted —from a clingy, submissive lover to a heartless playboy who only cared about his own happiness. It was as if he had swung to the complete opposite extreme.
All of this happened so suddenly that it was difficult to explain.
But Ling Shaoze didn’t need to explain himself to anyone. People’s thoughts could change in an instant, and choosing how to live was entirely up to him.
He Yi could only assume that Ling Shaoze had suddenly figured things out — better to be a carefree scoundrel without attachments than to be anyone’s lovesick fool.
However, upon suddenly realizing that the first person he had ever fallen for — the one he had so carefully schemed to win over — had once been head-over-heels for another scumbag, and that scumbag turned out to be his own grandnephew…
Marshal He’s feelings became complicated — a mix of gloom and confusion.
Ling Shaoze had once loved a scumbag so deeply. Now that he had let go of that love, he had chosen to become a heartless player himself. It would be very hard for someone like him to truly fall in love again.
Logically, He Yi knew he should give up on Ling Shaoze — let him live the life he wanted, and leave each other alone from now on.
In order to think this through, He Yi spent the next few days locked up in the spaceship’s training room, not daring to approach Ling Shaoze even under his disguised identity.
The spaceship was not on a direct route to Shuilan Star; it stopped more than a dozen times in different star systems along the way. Despite hesitating and debating with himself at every stop, He Yi still couldn’t bring himself to disembark early.
By the time they finally arrived at Shuilan Star — the final stop — He Yi followed the crowd off the ship. Without even needing his optical brain to locate, he easily spotted Ling Shaoze in the crowd.
At that moment, Ling Shaoze was walking happily alongside a slightly chubby youth, chatting and laughing.
…The little brat! He only looked away for a few days and he’s already flirting again!
Without thinking, He Yi immediately followed them.
After confirming that Ling Shaoze and the chubby boy — named Pang Wenguang — had only become friends because they were both students at Shuilan University, both gaming enthusiasts, and both interested in the upcoming public beta of Eternal Legend three days later, He Yi finally felt a little more at ease.
Regardless of how tangled and complicated Marshal He’s feelings were, Ling Shaoze, after confirming that he had truly shaken off the stalker “Pervert Y,” felt like a bird freed from its cage. His entire demeanor was completely relaxed.
Xiao Tao had been very efficient. He had already rented a two-story detached villa for Ling Shaoze near Shuilan University — complete with a small garden.
Among all the listings Xiao Tao had offered, this house was the one Ling Shaoze fell in love with at first sight.
Compared to high-rise apartments, Ling Shaoze preferred this kind of private house where he could open the door and immediately smell the fragrance of flowers and plants.
Of course, it wasn’t cheap — the rent alone was 100,000 star coins a month.
The house had been cleaned in advance, and the furniture and daily necessities he ordered online had also been delivered quickly. Ling Shaoze happily moved into his new home.
What made Ling Shaoze happiest of all was that the luxurious gaming pod he had pre-ordered online had also been delivered.
In the three days before Eternal Legend‘s official launch, Pang Wenguang had taken Ling Shaoze to experience a few mecha combat holographic games.
Unfortunately, Ling Shaoze suffered from mecha motion sickness — he was only suited to being a quiet onlooker, with zero participation.
So Ling Shaoze decided to spend his time researching all the professions available in Eternal Legend.
The little fatty Pang Wenguang had already made up his mind, his face full of excitement:
“I want to be a mighty and domineering warrior! Aze, do you think I should choose a meteor hammer or a thunder axe as my weapon?”
Ling Shaoze: “…”
This guy is so cringe!
Ling Shaoze thought: Obviously, a giant forty-meter broadsword would be the most mighty and fierce!
