Bai Rou said nothing, and a long, fluffy tail lunged toward him.
He Ting was completely awake, “You… aren’t Bai Rou!”
The fluffy tail wrapped around his leg, dragging him away.
He Ting was terrified, closing his eyes and shouting, “You’re not Bai Rou! Where did she go? Give her back to me!”
The pulling force suddenly vanished, and he opened his eyes to find no one in front of him.
Ji Zheng, Bai Rou, the fluffy tail—gone without a trace.
“What…”
He Ting slapped himself hard a few times, “I’m dreaming. I must be dreaming.”
At that moment, the door beside him opened, and Bai Rou timidly peeked her head out, looking at him with concern.
He Ting was astonished, “Bai Rou?!”
Bai Rou nodded and asked him in sign language if he was okay.
He Ting’s face stiffened, “I’m… fine.”
Suddenly dizzy, his vision spun, and he fainted again.
When He Ting woke up again, he found himself back in bed, drenched in cold sweat.
He clearly remembered talking to Bai Rou. Why did he suddenly faint?
Bai Rou…
Right, Bai Rou must have a problem.
As dawn broke, He Ting jumped out of bed and rushed out.
Bai Rou was sitting on the sofa watching Peppa Pig, and when she saw him come down, she smiled sweetly.
Her smile made her lashes curl, and her dimples were deep and shallow, cute and sweet.
He Ting was in a daze, “Bai Rou, did we see each other last night?”
Bai Rou shook her head, her innocent big eyes blinking.
“Oh no!” He Ting slapped his forehead, “I’m sick, I must have a delusion.”
He went to the hospital for a check-up, and the doctor said he was fine, just a bit weak in the kidneys. He should stay up late less and drink less alcohol.
He Ting returned home with a big bag of medicine.
At midnight, in a daze, he saw the purple-furred Bai Rou again.
The fluffy tail wrapped around his waist.
“Damn! Not again!!”
In his struggle, he ended up with a mouthful of fur.
Oh no, a monster!
When he woke up, he spat out a large mouthful of purple fur.
The fur was soft and smooth, somewhat like dog fur but resembling eggplant in color.
Even if he were dull, he could tell something was off with Bai Rou.
As day broke, He Ting recalled Lin Xi’s warning and immediately went to find Fu Jingyao for help.
As a result, he ended up in this predicament now.
He Ting felt hopeless, “It’s almost midnight. Bai Rou, no, that monster will come looking for me.”
He raised both hands, gesturing, “Master Lin, I’m telling you, that fluffy tail is super long, and her golden eyes are particularly big…”
Lin Xi pondered.
Strange, this fox spirit didn’t harm He Ting; it seemed like she was playing a game with him.
What was the fox spirit’s purpose in approaching him?
Lin Xi interrupted He Ting’s pointless description, “Bai Rou is still at your house?”
He Ting nodded obediently, “Bai Rou is normal during the day, but she starts to transform at night.”
“Alright, I’ll go to your house and take a look.”
Lin Xi took two steps, and He Ting sat there dumbfounded. She urged him, “Get up, let’s go.”
“Ah, ah?!”
He Ting quickly got up. He looked around, “Master, do we need to prepare anything, like glutinous rice or black dog blood?”
Lin Xi glanced at him, her eyes like she was looking at an idiot.
“This is a fox spirit, not a zombie.”
“Oh, oh.” He Ting slapped himself a few times, “Sorry, my mind hasn’t been clear these days.”
He took out his phone, “Master, please. I’ll call a car.”
Fu Jingyao strode past him, “Lin Xi, I’ll take you there.”
“Okay.” Lin Xi got into the passenger seat.
He Ting was surprised, “Fu Jingyao, heaven and earth, you finally treat me as a friend.”
He was about to open the back door, but Fu Jingyao casually waved his hand away, “My car isn’t for just anyone to ride in.”
The Maybach sped away.
He Ting inhaled a mouthful of exhaust fumes, his smile disappearing, and immediately called a taxi.
He comforted himself, Fu Jingyao has always been like this. He didn’t stop Lin Xi from saving him; that’s already good enough.
Hee hee, they’re still friends after all.
Two cars arrived, one after the other.
He Ting stood in front of the door, “Master Lin, I’ll open the door.”
“Open it.”
Lin Xi stared at a certain spot on the second floor where the demonic energy was intense.
Without changing her expression, she turned her bracelet, releasing five small paper figures.
The small paper figures floated up to the second floor on the wind and silently slipped inside.
Bai Rou hid in the shadows, licking her lips.
She planned to leave after tonight. If she didn’t leave soon, her aunt would come and catch her.
Sounds came from downstairs. Bai Rou took a deep breath, squeezed out two tears, and ran out.
He Ting couldn’t stop trembling, “That’s Bai Rou.”
Bai Rou adjusted her expression, looked up, and was stunned.
Why were there so many people?
She secretly sized up the other two.
The woman, nothing could be gleaned.
The man’s aura made her uncomfortable.
Bai Rou approached He Ting and gestured with her hands.
Brother, are they your friends?
He Ting took a few steps back, “Don’t come closer. Confess quickly; otherwise, Master won’t let you off.”
Bai Rou was very sad, tears falling one after another.
You also think I’m a monster.
He Ting understood her sign language, and a strange emotion arose in his heart.
Bai Rou is so pitiful…
He slapped himself hard.
Snap out of it, He Ting, haven’t you been played enough by her these days?
He Ting closed his eyes, unable to look directly at the people in front of him.
Bai Rou’s eyes were red, and the glistening teardrops sliding down her nose made her look pitiful.
Unfortunately, He Ting didn’t see it.
Fu Jingyao remained indifferent, his attention entirely on Lin Xi.
Lin Xi smirked, slowly pulling out a yellow talisman, “Little beauty, don’t cry. You’re making me a little reluctant to beat you.”
Bai Rou’s eyebrows twitched.
Yellow talisman! She’s a Taoist priest!
Bai Rou vigilantly stared at the woman, her body leaning back.
Her aunt had said, never fight with a Taoist priest.
If she encountered a decent Taoist priest, she would at most be beaten up.
If she met a bad Taoist priest, her life would be over.
The inner core of a nine-tailed fox is an excellent material for refining medicine. Her aunt had warned her not to leave the fox clan’s sacred land before she was an adult.
But she had run out alone and encountered a Taoist priest.
Bai Rou’s fingertips turned white. She picked up the water cup on the table and threw it, turning to run.
Lin Xi caught the cup, calmly standing where she was.
He Ting was very anxious, “Master, chase her! Don’t let her get away.”
Lin Xi said indifferently, “She can’t escape.”
Bai Rou ran to the window, smashed the glass with a punch, and braced herself on the windowsill to jump out.
Bang! She collided with something hard.
Bai Rou covered her head and cried out in pain.
What the hell was that?
A paper figure with a pot-shaped head?
No good, she was surrounded.
Five small paper figures surrounded her tightly. Bai Rou extended her claws and slapped one of them.
Whoosh—!
The small paper figure spat out a ball of fire, burning her long fingernails.
Bai Rou froze. She had just gotten a manicure; it took five hours.
Ruined, all ruined.
Bai Rou was furious and stared at the explosive-head paper figure.
Suddenly, a jet of water poured down from above, soaking her completely.
The anger in Bai Rou’s heart instantly vanished.
She couldn’t fight, absolutely couldn’t fight.
An indestructible body, spitting fire and water—this was the legendary Calabash Brothers.
Finished, she was doomed this time.
Xiao Jin, along with the small paper figures, apprehended the fox spirit.
Bai Rou sat on the ground, thinking about what to do.
Lin Xi looked down at her, “Little fox spirit, confess honestly. Why did you run to the human world to trick He Ting?”
Bai Rou snorted coldly, her entire demeanor changing.
Her pupils turned golden yellow, her eyes slightly upturned, her pure appearance now with a touch of charm.
Since her identity was exposed, what was the point of pretending?
She took a deep breath, then another, and spoke in human language.
“Oh my god, I’m suffocating.”
