Even Yi Xia couldn’t stand it.
“Don’t you find it contradictory? Just now, you said this matter has nothing to do with President Shen. If it’s unrelated, why does he interfere with whether Yue Su withdraws the lawsuit or not?”
Jiang Wanti’s words almost directly admitted that Shen Junzai was behind everything.
Clearly asking for help, yet not showing any sign of it.
She wanted to step on Yue Su, but at the same time, hoped for Yue Su to show mercy.
Jiang Wanti couldn’t be bothered to argue further. She didn’t need to explain any of this.
“Think about it carefully. Since you want to make a comeback, President Shen is willing to accept you again. This is a very good opportunity.”
Yue Su lazily leaned against the side. “Aren’t you afraid I’ll join Xingguang and steal your spotlight?”
Jiang Wanti showed a disdainful expression. “It’s not that I look down on you. If you had any real ability, you wouldn’t have retired back then. Yue Su, besides Xingguang, do you really think you have any other options?”
Shen Junzai was the president of Xingguang, and he had some influence in the industry.
As long as he made a move, without a strong backing, Yue Su wouldn’t even be able to get her hands on any resources.
Without resources, a comeback would be futile.
“Even if I join Xingguang, I’m sure the company would just freeze me out right after signing the contract,” Yue Su said. She understood Shen Junzai too well. He was petty and would definitely hate her by now.
Jiang Wanti smirked. “You don’t have to sign with Xingguang. Didn’t President Shen say it? As long as he’s around, he won’t give you a chance to rise again. You can try if you don’t believe it.”
“Ah, threatening me again?”
“So what if it’s a threat? In this industry, if President Shen wants to ruin you, he has countless ways.”
Yue Su smiled indifferently, the corner of her mouth lifting slightly. “I’m so scared.”
Before Jiang Wanti could say anything else, her phone in her pocket started vibrating.
She quickly answered the call, and immediately heard Fang Tong’s angry voice. “Jiang Wanti, what the hell are you doing? The live stream isn’t over yet! With so many cameras watching, do you even know what you should and shouldn’t say?”
“Yue Su was trying to get information from you. Didn’t you notice that? You’re not suited for this show. You’ve ruined your public image. I’ll apply with the company tomorrow to have you replaced.”
Boom—
Jiang Wanti felt as though she had been struck by lightning, her body freezing in place.
Her ears rang, and she couldn’t even hear what Fang Tong said after that.
The phone fell to the ground with a heavy thud.
Her face turned as pale as paper, and she mechanically turned her head, looking at Fu Xijin with a pleading gaze.
Fu Xijin didn’t look up, lowering his head to look at his phone, his expression unreadable.
His sharply defined fingers gently tapped on the screen.
Not long after, a staff member called out, “Wrap it up, we’re done for today.”
As the equipment powered off, Jiang Wanti realized that her back was drenched in cold sweat.
A sense of fear crept in, but thankfully, Fu Xijin had helped her.
She hadn’t even figured out how to explain her slip of the tongue to the fans yet when her eyes fell on Fu Xijin again, softening.
“Ah Xijin, thank you.”
Fu Xijin’s fingers flew across the phone screen as he heard her tone of gratitude, only responding lightly with, “No next time.”
Yue Su’s gaze shifted away, her chest rising and falling as her emotions stirred within.
She smiled sarcastically, her lips curling.
Of course, Fu Xijin would help Jiang Wanti. How could he not?
She bit her cheek until she tasted blood, only letting go after the sharp pain.
Jiang Wanti turned her head once more, her face cold as ice.
“Yue Su, impressive.”
Yue Su shrugged nonchalantly, not caring about her anger.
“Not as good as you.”
Jiang Wanti’s face tightened, but then suddenly relaxed, breaking into a smile.
“It seems you won’t accept President Shen’s offer after all. I’ve been meddling in your business.”
She turned and walked away.
Yue Su silently stayed in place, her gaze following Fu Xijin’s tall figure as he walked toward the beach.
She got up and followed him.
Yi Xia looked worried, letting out a soft sigh.
Yuan Jin shook his head. “It’s a tangled mess, no clear solution.”
Step by step, Yue Su walked closer to his back.
“Fu Xijin.”
The man turned his head, his profile as cold as ever.
“Something you want?”
Yue Su wasn’t sure why she came over, but a small sense of unwillingness pushed her forward.
She had never fully understood the past, and she still hadn’t gotten an answer.
She stopped behind him, her face calm.
“Did you really forget about me? Completely, from start to finish, not remembering at all?”
This was a question she’d wanted to ask for four years.
It had lingered in her heart, so many times, it almost became an obsession.
The man looked ahead, his indifference more pronounced than ever.
“I don’t remember.”
Yue Su choked on her words, and the three words weighed heavily on her chest, making it hard to breathe.
It felt like she was sinking in an endless ocean, the only thing left was suffocation.
“But you know why.” Her voice dropped, sounding hoarse.
He was the heir to the whale industry; finding information about the past was easy.
Fu Xijin remained emotionally steady, as though discussing something trivial and irrelevant to him.
“I know why.”
Yue Su opened her mouth several times, struggling to find the words.
After a long pause, she asked, “Why?”
Fu Xijin tightened his jaw, his Adam’s apple bobbing.
“It’s because it wasn’t important.”
A fleeting love, not worth remembering.
Not worth remembering, so it was forgotten.
Yue Su’s heart tightened and loosened, a complex feeling that soon turned numb.
She exhaled a long breath, the expected answer weighing down on her heart.
He had said it himself, and she had heard it with her own ears. That was enough.
“President Fu, give the arrow back to me.”
Fu Xijin paused, turning his head.
Yue Su held a crossbow bolt in her hand, extending it toward him.
Fu Xijin moved his lips slightly, speaking in a soft voice, “I didn’t pick it up.”
Yue Su laughed, her eyes cold and sharp as she threw the arrow onto the ground.
“Then forget it.”
She turned and walked away, taking large strides.
After walking a short distance, Yue Su stopped, biting her lip, getting more and more upset.
She turned back, glaring at the man who still stood there, his anger burning in her eyes.
She pointed at Fu Xijin, shouting, “You bastard, you better keep this look for the rest of your life! I wish you never have children, yet may you have a full house of grandkids! Bastard!”
Yue Su’s voice echoed, reverberating through the beach.
The program staff were frozen, as if under a spell, too afraid to speak.
Anyone who dared to call Fu Xijin a bastard—Yue Su was no ordinary woman.
Yi Xia and Yuan Jin exchanged glances, unsure of what had been said between Yue Su and Fu Xijin, but Yue Su’s angry shout was unmistakable.
Fu Xijin closed his eyes. That past no longer mattered to him.
He had intentionally erased those two years from his life.
It was a life that belonged to someone else, not his.
He slowly exhaled, forcing down the thoughts that arose in his head.
And now, what? He asked himself.
Since boarding the ship to the island, what did Yue Su mean to him?
Han Si: [President Fu, the data for the Rose Bunny has been fully sent to Gu Nan. Should I also CC it to your email?]
Fu Xijin: [No need, destroy it.]
Han Si: [Gu Nan keeps asking, his guard is up.]
Han Si: [President Fu, when chasing a girl, it’s best not to do good deeds without leaving a trace.]
Han Si: [I can subtly hint at it.]
Fu Xijin: [Chase?]
Fu Xijin: [😊 Go ahead.]
Han Si: [Where to?]
Fu Xijin: [Xinjiang.]
Han Si: [Has our company expanded its business into Xinjiang?]
Fu Xijin: [Mm, dried raisins.]
Han Si: [🐶(臣告退.jpg)]
The candy in Nao Nao’s mouth dropped, and she stood there stunned.
In her mind, her uncle’s family was highly respected.
Even her grandfather didn’t dare to speak loudly to Fu Xijin.
At this moment, Yue Su’s sharp words were deeply etched in Nao Nao’s memory.
She was their role model!
“Yao Yao, your mom is really impressive!”
Yao Yao reminded her, “Mom called him your uncle.”
Nao Nao: “Then it must be my uncle who should be scolded!”
She had wanted to shout for a long time but never had the courage.
Yao Yao: “……”
Nao Nao put her arm around her shoulder, pulling out the last lollipop from her pocket.
“Here, for you.”
Yao Yao didn’t take it, shaking her head and saying in a childish voice, “No good deed goes unpunished. You’re up to no good.”
Nao Nao: “I’m only seven years old, how could I have bad intentions? Just take it!”
