Seriana picked up what looked like a bracelet from the table and reached out her other hand toward me.
Was she telling me to give her my hand too?
“Here.”
I placed my right hand, which had nothing on the wrist, into hers, and she pulled it toward her.
Then, she slipped the bracelet she was holding onto my wrist.
So it really was a bracelet…
She must’ve prepared this to camouflage the 【Monkey’s Arm】.
Unlike the 【Shadow Sword】, the 【Monkey’s Arm】 isn’t something I’ve hidden, but I also haven’t explicitly stated that it’s a bangle.
“Oh?”
The bracelet on my wrist wasn’t about to fall off, but it did feel a little loose.
The rings had auto-adjusted themselves, but… this doesn’t seem to be the same?
“I recently acquired a new 【Monkey’s Arm】, so I prepared this for disguise purposes. However, what I procured this time is a standard item. There are bracelets that have similar effects to the Princess’s rings, but they’re a bit too rugged and wouldn’t suit you.”
“Nn…”
All the bracelets she prepared were dainty and feminine in design.
I do feel like bulky ones wouldn’t suit my wrist either… Is that just what happens when you add functions to them—they get bulky?
“Well… it’s fine for dungeons, but when you go into the forest, you should probably take it off. You swing your arms a lot, don’t you? You might snag it on tree branches or grass.”
While talking with Teresa, Seriana continued switching bracelets on and off and pointed out a few things to be cautious about.
“That’s true. Fortunately, outside, people don’t tend to stare at your wrists much, so I think that should be fine.”
“Really?”
I mean, I tend to notice stuff like that when people wear a lot of accessories…
The women in our group don’t usually wear many accessories to begin with.
Even now, Seriana only has a single ring on each of her index fingers and, I think, one necklace.
Teresa has a ring on her right index finger.
Elena, who’s already gone home, also only wore one ring, if I remember correctly.
That’s not just for today while we’re at the mansion—it’s usually the same even when we go out.
Fiora sometimes wears various rings and bracelets, but even she doesn’t go as far as I usually do.
Well… in my case, I wear a lot of Blessed Items, so it’s a bit different…
“Yes. Ring-type magic tools are relatively easy to obtain and tend to have simple effects, so even adventurers use them. But for wrist-worn types, their effects are often more limited. Things like amplifying magic or accelerating mana recovery… The effects aren’t particularly strong, and they’re mainly for mages. What Fiora-dono wears falls into that category.”
So that stuff Fiora wears is actually magical equipment… meaning all that jingling she does isn’t for fashion.
Anyway, now I understand that for adventurers, wearing things on the wrist isn’t all that common, and it’s best to be careful during hunts.
But in that case, since I rarely go outside except for hunts, is there really any point in preparing this for me? What’s the thinking behind that?
“Should I really be wearing this? I feel like it’ll just stand out more…”
The 【Monkey’s Arm】 is on my left wrist, sure, but it’s got a simple design, and I usually wear long sleeves, so it’s not like it stands out much.
If I add something else, wouldn’t it actually draw more attention?
“Yes. But you’re wearing rings too, right?”
“Yeah. On all my fingers.”
Not to mention, I’ve got black nail polish on every one of my nails.
“In that case, wouldn’t having only one accessory on one hand stand out even more?”
“Nn…”
“That’s not the only reason…”
Seriana’s reasoning almost convinced me, but Teresa, perhaps feeling that it wasn’t quite enough, added with a wry smile.
Still… these two have been super busy swapping bracelets this whole time.
“When it came to the rings, I placed a direct request with the royal capital, but this time I went through the commercial guild. Word will spread that I’ve been acquiring multiple accessories.”
“Right.”
Just because you put in an order doesn’t mean the person who got the request will come directly.
There are usually multiple people in between, and if the client is a noble, they’ll make sure the details are properly conveyed to avoid any mishaps.
“The household staff probably won’t go around leaking what goes on in the mansion, but if their families ask something like ‘Is the Princess wearing anything?’, they might answer honestly. That being the case, it’s better to be seen wearing various accessories from time to time.”
“…I see?”
I’m fine with keeping the fact that the 【Monkey’s Arm】 is a bangle under wraps, and I don’t mind if it gets out via the staff that I’ve started wearing something new.
But honestly, it feels a bit like overkill.
Still, if they’re offering, I’ll gladly accept…
“Well, if you start wearing something new again, you can just say Teresa ordered it. That should cover most situations.”
“…Oh!”
Seriana said that while watching me tilt my head.
Blessed Items, unless they’re huge, are usually accessory-sized.
If we start creating precedents like this, maybe it’ll help cover things up in the future…?
I’m not totally convinced, but if these two are saying it’s a good idea, maybe it really is.
