The scooter only had two wheels, but it wasn’t slow on these mountain roads.
The sky gradually darkened, and a few lonely stars clung to the crescent moon, lazily twinkling. The moonlight was faint, and the scooter’s headlight was the sole source of illumination.
Sui Han’s long legs had nowhere to go, so he awkwardly stuck them to the sides.
This two-wheeled vehicle was so uncomfortable.
The boy was starting to miss the luxurious seats on the high-speed train.
But the plane he saw while scrolling through his phone in the morning seemed even more appealing.
He could take a plane from Wanquan City back to Shanhai City. Sui Han breathed in the mountain air, wondering if he should try it when he got home.
He was sitting far back, and the baby bottle in his pocket kept bumping against Liu Dazhuang’s back.
“What do you have in your pocket? It’s killing me back here.”
“A water bottle.”
Sui Han adjusted his clothes to avoid any further awkwardness.
The little zombie was dozing off on the Yingyu’s back, while the Yingyu was full of energy.
It had never seen a scooter before, and a sudden surge of competitiveness drove it to keep speeding up, always wanting to get ahead of the front wheel.
Sui Han watched the grass on either side go from tall to short, but he still couldn’t see any lights in the distance.
There was only a blackness like an abyss.
Lonely and desolate, like a swirling black hole rising above the horizon, relentlessly pulling them into the unknown depths.
They rode for over twenty minutes.
Liu Dazhuang turned off the engine and stopped. As he got off, he told Sui Han, “We’re here.”
The boy pretended not to know, got off, and patted his stomach in a show of cooperation. “Where’s the feast?”
Liu Dazhuang turned to look at him, a dark glint flashing in his eyes.
The little zombie perked up, alert, nervously grabbing the Yingyu’s bird wings, looking around.
Liu Dazhuang glanced at Sui Han a few times, then gave him a live performance of what it meant to do a Sichuan opera face change.
His kind and gentle expression instantly vanished, and as the corners of his mouth stretched into a grin, the greed in his eyes became impossible to hide.
“Kid, you’re not getting any feast, but you’re not going anywhere either.”
Sui Han scratched his head, his face calm to the point of indifference.
His foot pressed down on a clod of dirt, crushing it into dust. “So, Li Fan is here too?”
Sui Han had a feeling Li Fan wasn’t dead. Li Le was right.
According to the messenger’s phone call, Li Fan had fallen into a cement mixer. Something that big couldn’t have gone unnoticed on the construction site.
The excavator driver had made it clear that Liu Dazhuang was the most “doting” on his “boys,” even helping them slack off.
What kind of foreman would be so nice? It was all hard labor, and no one liked doing extra work.
So the reason was, Li Fan was useful to Liu Dazhuang.
And because they were from the same village, Li Fan trusted Liu Dazhuang the most.
Liu Dazhuang looked at the boy warily. Under the moonlight, Sui Han’s skin had an eerie, pale glow. “You know Xiao Fan? How do you know him?”
“So, Li Fan is here too?”
Sui Han ignored the question and repeated himself.
Liu Dazhuang’s heart suddenly started racing, and his fingers twitched. “You know Xiao Fan? How do you know him!”
“So, Li Fan is here too?”
Sui Han asked the question one last time, still being patient.
The little zombie and the Yingyu: Are you guys freaking parrots?
Liu Dazhuang saw that Sui Han didn’t look scared at all and got angry, raising his voice. “I’m asking you! Stop talking nonsense! How do you know Li Fan!”
Sui Han didn’t want to answer him. He really didn’t want to repeat that question again.
So tired 0.0
When Liu Dazhuang yelled, there was a rustling in the nearby bushes. Two men wearing hard hats pushed aside the leaves and peered out.
Then they grinned. “Oh, Lao Liu, bringing another one?”
Bringing someone?
Liu Dazhuang glanced at Sui Han and gave a faint smile. “Yeah, he looks skinny, but he’s tall and strong. He can haul several loads of cement in no time. Pushes the carts himself.”
“That capable?” The two men looked surprised.
Liu Dazhuang was clearly getting impatient.
“Would I lie to you? Who do you think I’d send here who couldn’t work?!”
One of the men adjusted his hat. “True. The last one, Li Fan, I gotta say, he was young and full of energy. He could really work.”
“What kind of work do you do here?”
Sui Han tilted his head and asked.
The man chuckled, his attitude towards him not so friendly.
“Mining. What kind of work do you think?”
Sui Han nodded, not caring about his attitude.
The boy roughly pieced together the whole story, connecting all the dots.
Li Fan needed money for Li Le’s illness and had to find a way to leave the village and make money in the city. Liu Dazhuang, who was from the same village, heard about it when he went back to visit and lured him into working with him.
As a result, Li Fan was sent here by Liu Dazhuang after only a few days on the construction site. Mining was very dangerous work.
These people were clearly rounding up illegal laborers!
Li Fan and the others were probably working for nothing and might even get beaten if they didn’t work hard enough.
Anyway, in this remote wilderness, no one would know if they were beaten to death.
Liu Dazhuang was afraid that if Li Fan didn’t go back for too long, the villagers would get suspicious, so he went all the way, calling the contact station to send a message that Li Fan had died.
Afterward, Liu Dazhuang would probably try to settle things privately with Li Le, offering the mountain girl a few hundred bucks to make the problem go away. He’d still come out on top.
And that way, the police wouldn’t get involved.
A perfect plan, but he was unlucky enough to run into him.
Liu Dazhuang was afraid that things would get complicated, so he winked at the two men. “Take him in. He knows Li Fan, right? Lock them up together. I’ll go find the boss and get my cut.”
Sui Han heard this and suddenly blinked. “Lao Liu, how much of a cut do you get for someone like me?”
Liu Dazhuang wasn’t afraid to tell him, proudly holding up five fingers.
“Five hundred thousand?”
Sui Han was a little pleased. It seemed he was worth a decent amount.
“You’re dreaming if you think it’s five hundred thousand! It’s fifty thousand!”
Liu Dazhuang took out his car keys, ready to leave. “Alright, stop talking nonsense. You’re unlucky to run into me. Just work hard here.”
The god frowned, a little unhappy.
He didn’t move, but turned his head to look at the little zombie who was catching ants on the grass, complaining to it in a low voice, “He said I’m only worth fifty thousand.”
His mouth drooped, and his indifferent expression became more lively.
Liu Dazhuang saw his strange actions and quickly looked down, warning him, “What are you doing? Who are you talking to? Stop acting crazy!”
The little zombie released the big ant and wasn’t happy either.
These people were so annoying, interrupting its friendship with the big ant.
Just as the two men were looking over, the little zombie puffed out its cheeks and suddenly grew taller, even taller than Sui Han.
The little cub had suddenly become a fierce big cub!
With a “whoosh,” it revealed itself.
Sui Han was a little surprised. So the cubs could show themselves.
Actually, this was a new skill that the little zombie and the little Yingyu had only learned last night. They were by the god’s side, following him every day, so naturally they would slowly grow.
The boy gently waved his hand. “You’re too tall. I can’t see your face.”
The little zombie chuckled twice and shrank a few inches, its little red face meeting the eyes of the three men, giving them a gentlemanly smile.
The three men’s eyes almost popped out of their heads.
So freaking scary!
The desolate wilderness, originally shrouded in darkness and silence, suddenly turned into the liveliest haunted house attraction in an amusement park.
“Ahhhhh!”
“There’s a freaking ghost!!!”
Liu Dazhuang’s first reaction was that Sui Han was playing tricks. He wanted to grab Sui Han, but Sui Han reached out, took out the baby bottle, and smashed it over his head.
Liu Dazhuang passed out.
The little Yingyu puffed out its fishy mouth and blew huge bubbles into the air. The remaining two men were trapped in the bubbles and, after burping, also fell to the ground.
There were definitely more bosses in this black mine, but Sui Han was too lazy to go find them.
The god had learned to call the police 🙂
Having taken care of everything, he planned to take the cubs to ride the big plane.
Sui Han glanced at the road they had come from, long and dark. And there were no taxis to be found in this area. He stood next to the scooter. “Should we just take his scooter?”
The two cubs shook their heads.
The little Yingyu blew two bubbles and looked inexplicably happy.
But the next second, Sui Han knew why it was happy.
