The streamers had a relatively easy time in the days before the competition. The hotel’s third floor was a restaurant, and basically all three meals of the day were served here.
Early in the morning, Bai Bai took his white peacock and sat in a conspicuous place in the restaurant. Several streamers wanted to cooperate with him, so they all smiled and gathered around.
Even if Sui Han’s Nine-tailed Fox was outstanding, it didn’t necessarily mean that he would definitely break into the top ten.
That’s the way people are. No matter how wonderful something is, after seeing it a few more times, it’s just so-so. The streamers quickly forgot about Huan Huan and came to seek out the advantageous Bai Bai again.
The white peacock still had a high chance of winning, and being able to seek cooperation would always add a bit more certainty.
“Bai Bai, cooperate with me. My little lion likes your peacock very much. It’s been clamoring to come and play with it since early in the morning.”
“What’s the use of a lion? Our sugar glider can fly. How about it, consider us?”
“Hey, why haven’t I seen Sui Han come out to eat? I thought Bai Bai would choose to cooperate with Sui Han.”
Bai Bai got angry when he heard this, and naturally didn’t realize that the other party was deliberately stirring things up. He slammed down his chopsticks and stroked the white peacock standing at his feet.
The white peacock’s feathers stood straight up, looking proud and aggressive.
Like its owner, it held its long neck high, and no matter who it looked at, it had a disdainful look, as if it didn’t think much of those who came to seek cooperation.
Bai Bai was rejected yesterday, and he and Sui Han had formed a grudge.
He snorted coldly and deliberately shouted, “Just a fox, are they worthy of cooperating with me?”
“Of course they’re not worthy, what is Sui Han?”
“That’s right, how can a fox be as cute as my kangaroo? So what if it has nine tails? My kangaroo comes with its own shopping bag.”
“…”
The crowd said more and more outrageous things, but Bai Bai ultimately didn’t decide who he wanted to cooperate with.
But being sought after for cooperation early in the morning greatly satisfied Bai Bai’s vanity, and his disdain for Sui Han became even more intense. He wished they would be eliminated in the opening game so that he could vent his anger.
Sui Han slept until noon. When he woke up, there weren’t many people left in the restaurant.
Compared to other streamers who were busy looking for partners, he wasn’t in a hurry at all. Sui Han smoothed his hair, which was sticking up from sleeping, and he only had two things to do today.
Buy a ball.
Visit Xu Songyan.
Sui Han brought Huan Huan to the restaurant, ordered a plate of spaghetti, chose tomato meat sauce, and took an extra small bowl, mixing some and handing it to Huan Huan.
Huan Huan swallowed, its small black eyes staring straight at the bright red spaghetti, wrinkling its nose to sniff.
“The taste is a bit sour, but I think it’s okay.”
Sui Han saw the little fox stretch its head to lick the noodles, and then eat the spaghetti in big mouthfuls, its nine tails swaying leisurely, attracting frequent glances from the waiters.
“The little fox is so cute.”
“So that’s what those people were talking about this morning. I’ve never seen a nine-tailed one before.”
“I really want to take a photo with it. Look at its round little face, it doesn’t have the pointed chin of a typical fox.”
“Yeah, it’s so cute, sigh…”
The person couldn’t help but sigh, thinking about how Bai Bai and the others had ridiculed this little streamer and Huan Huan this morning. It seemed that those people were going to unite to deal with them. He wondered how many rounds of the competition they could survive.
After the owner and pet finished eating the noodles, Sui Han wiped the little fox’s mouth and took Huan Huan to the lawn behind the hotel to film footage.
Xu Songyan had made an appointment for the evening, and he had an afternoon to shoot some footage to keep in reserve.
Sui Han took Huan Huan to practice walking on the lawn, but he didn’t know why. Even though it was such a smart fox, and it had watched a lot of videos of four-legged beasts walking, Huan Huan just couldn’t learn.
It could only jump.
But it jumped quite far, farther than a kangaroo anyway.
Little did he know that a group of streamers were hiding in Bai Bai’s room and looking out. The windows in Bai Bai’s room faced the lawn. They were all people who dealt with pets all year round.
They could tell at a glance that this little nine-tailed fox couldn’t even walk.
“Hahahaha, no wonder Sui Han always carries it. A guy who can’t even walk is bound to fail in the opening game.”
“Coordinated ball-topping, let alone topping a ball, if it coordinates walking with Sui Han, wouldn’t it knock itself silly?”
“Oh dear, I’m suddenly not worried about the competition anymore. This little fox will definitely be eliminated.”
A group of people gloated and talked nonstop, enjoying the air conditioning and cold drinks while admiring the little fox hopping on the lawn.
It didn’t think there was anything wrong with not being able to walk. On the contrary, it was quite happy entertaining itself.
The saying “jumping three feet high” was proven to be no exaggeration for the first time.
An afternoon of futile effort passed. Seeing that the agreed-upon time was approaching, Sui Han took the little fox back to the room to take a shower. The organizer was indeed very considerate and even prepared their usual clothes.
Some streamers had experience and brought a few pieces themselves, but Sui Han didn’t bring anything, so he could only wear the provided clothes.
Sui Han took Huan Huan in the elevator downstairs, and happened to meet a group of streamers eating dinner.
With Bai Bai in the lead, one of the streamers saw him and deliberately said, “It’s almost time for dinner, where is Sui Han going? It can’t be…continuing to train the fox to walk, hahaha!”
“Sui Han, don’t worry. It doesn’t matter if Huan Huan can’t walk. It can just jump when the time comes.”
Bai Bai said triumphantly, “Sui Han, I told you, you will definitely regret it.”
Sui Han didn’t pay much attention, but answered the streamer’s first question, “I’m going to Xu Songyan’s house for dinner, so I won’t go to the restaurant.”
The streamers’ faces changed drastically when they heard this, “Why are you going to Teacher Xu’s house for dinner? Are you very familiar with him?”
“He invited me.” Sui Han paused and added, “But indeed, I’m not very familiar with him.”
“…How infuriating.”
Everyone watched Sui Han disappear into the elevator entrance, and they couldn’t come back to their senses for a long time.
Sui Han took Huan Huan and walked along the pedestrian street. Xu Songyan’s residence was indeed very close to the hotel, about a fifteen-minute walk. The pedestrian street was lined with small stalls.
There were fruit vendors, toy vendors, jianbing guozi (a popular Chinese street food, a type of savory crepe), teppanyaki, everything.
Sui Han bought a ball for Huan Huan, holding the ball in one hand and Huan Huan’s hand in the other, strolling slowly.
At the end of the pedestrian street, there was a wide road, with alleys leading in all directions on both sides.
After Sui Han crossed the road, he heard the sound of flowing water splash splash in his ears. The sound of water seemed to be right next to his ear, sometimes near and sometimes far, like a flowing stream, or like a rapidly descending waterfall.
In short, the sound seemed to be able to penetrate space, rushing towards him from all directions.
Huan Huan shuddered in his arms, and the red fur on its body suddenly bristled. Its big tail swung out of his clothes, as if testing something.
Sui Han continued to walk forward slowly, letting the sound of water grow louder and louder, without stopping to check.
Just as he was about to cross the last intersection, two old men walking their dogs passed by Sui Han on the street.
With his hands behind his back, one of them chatted with the other, “You say, this piece of land, no matter what they said back then, they wouldn’t let us relocate. In the end, didn’t they have to tear down the bungalows and build buildings?”
“Who knows? I almost listened to my daughter several times, sold the house, and left.”
“I couldn’t stand it and wanted to sell it too, but before I could find a suitable buyer, the government relocated us.”
“Splash splash—”
The sound of water seemed to have gathered behind Sui Han. They merged together, excitedly, constantly, rushing towards the boy’s feet.
