Chapter 8: Zhao Xiulan Saves a Life
Zhao Xiulan didn’t expect Wu Jinhua to repay her; she couldn’t bear to see a life wither away before her eyes.
In the apocalypse, she had witnessed too many such scenes. Everyone was striving to survive.
It was precisely because of experiencing the apocalypse that Zhao Xiulan understood the preciousness of life.
Since she could save others, Zhao Xiulan would definitely spare no effort to help.
In preparation for the apocalypse, Zhao Xiulan not only stockpiled a large number of supplies but also learned some basic medical knowledge before the apocalypse, so she could help treat injuries to herself or her companions in the future.
She also knew some self-rescue methods after being bitten by a snake.
After hearing Wu Jinhua’s words, Zhao Xiulan nodded and quickly went to Goudan’s side.
Goudan was bitten on the ankle by the snake. Zhao Xiulan glanced around and found some vines, which she used to tie a tourniquet above Goudan’s knee joint to stop the venom from spreading upwards through the blood vessels, worsening the situation.
Then Zhao Xiulan quickly inspected the wound on Goudan’s ankle, making sure there were no snake fangs left inside, and then she squeezed out the black blood.
“Bring me some water, and prepare some for drinking too,” Zhao Xiulan called out.
Someone eagerly fetched some water, and after receiving it, Zhao Xiulan continuously rinsed the wound. After almost finishing rinsing, she carried an enamel jar with water. Zhao Xiulan took out some Ji Desheng snake medicine from her space when no one was paying attention and fed it to Goudan.
Fortunately, there was a large reserve of medicine in her space; otherwise, she couldn’t imagine the situation today.
After all this, Zhao Xiulan was sweating profusely from the intense concentration.
After a while, Goudan was fine.
Thanks to timely treatment, Goudan, who had fainted, gradually regained consciousness, and his lips were no longer as black as before, looking much better.
Zhao Xiulan’s rescue of Goudan made the onlookers admire her a bit more, and their gazes towards her changed instantly.
As soon as Wu Jinhua saw Goudan waking up, she immediately hugged him and burst into tears, “Goudan… My darling, thank goodness you’re alright. If anything happened to you, how could Mom live…”
Goudan was also obviously frightened by the incident and cried when he hugged Wu Jinhua.
After crying, Wu Jinhua thought of the lifesaver for her son and was about to kneel down to Zhao Xiulan, “Xiulan, if it weren’t for you today, Goudan would have been gone. Auntie will always remember your kindness. Thank you so much!”
Zhao Xiulan quickly pulled Wu Jinhua up and said, “Auntie, you’re too kind. We’re all from the same production team, helping each other is what we should do as neighbours. I just did what I could, so please don’t worry about it. I believe that if my family encounters difficulties in the future, you will also lend a helping hand when you see it!”
After hearing Zhao Xiulan’s words, everyone not only admired her abilities but also appreciated her good character, as she didn’t seek credit for what she had done.
To be able to do this at such a young age was truly commendable.
So, they praised Zhao Xiulan one by one, truly admiring her.
Although Wu Jinhua was moved by Zhao Xiulan’s words, she still remembered Zhao Xiulan’s kindness. Even if Zhao Xiulan said there was no need, she couldn’t just let it go. She owed Zhao Xiulan such a big favour. In the future, if anyone dared to bully Zhao Xiulan, she would definitely be the first to stand up for her.
