Chapter 29: Make It Up to Me
The rest of the conversation was muddled. Physically and mentally tired, Ye Wenxin did not feel like dealing with anything, leaning on Ling Jue’s shoulder, she fell asleep at some point. When she woke up next, she was already back in her residence.
Ling Jue was wearing men’s attire, but had revealed her original appearance. She was still gorgeous, leaving one never tire of looking at her.
However, Ye Wenxin did not get it, Ling Jue was so afraid of exposing her true gender, why was she always willing to stay as a woman in front of her?
“Awake?”
Ye Wenxin seemed to have stared for too long. Ling Jue, who had been reading, noticed her. She got up and walked over, helping to check her pulse.
Ye Wenxin was somewhat uneasy. Worried there was something wrong with her disguise, she dared not say anything and quietly waited for Ling Jue to finish.
“Don’t give me that miserable look, you just didn’t get enough sleep, it’s not a big deal.” Seeing Ye Wenxin’s anxiousness, Ling Jue explained the results of her pulse reading.
Ye Wenxin secretly sighed in relief. She suddenly rejoiced being dragged around by by Hei Tong these past few days, causing her to not sleep well. Now, because of this sleep deprivation, some unnatural parts were covered up.
“I’m sorry, I’ve let you suffer.” Ling Jue felt even more self-blame. If she had taken Ye Wenxin’s words about Hei Tong seriously from the beginning, it would not have led to Hei Tong taking advantage of her and even coming to the school to harass Ye Wenxin.
“Big Sister Ling, it’s really not your fault. Stop shouldering all the blame yourself.” Ye Wenxin felt helpless. Ling Jue was a good person inside and out, but her sense of responsibility was too great, such a person would be killed by their own kindness sooner or later.
Ling Jue still stubbornly blamed herself for everything, “No, this is my responsibility. I brought you up the mountain, so I should take good care of you.”
Hearing this, Ye Wenxin was even more speechless. If she continued to argue with Ling Jue, there would be no result. She considered for a moment, then resumed, saying, “Then Big Sister Ling should make it up to me.”
Familiar with this plot and opening, instead of showing a relaxed look, Ling Jue’s face was filled with vigilance.
“If it’s about Fairy Fengya again, I can’t help you.” Ling Jue sounded a bit unhappy, as if she was against Ye Wenxin getting too close to Fairy Fengya.
On one hand, it stemmed from the comparison among women, and on the other hand, Ling Jue lacked confidence in herself, fearing that after Ye Wenxin met Fairy Fengya, she would be enraptured and forget their agreement.
“No, no, no. I know you don’t know Fairy Fengya well, so I’m not going to ask about her at all. Look, you’re the reason I came up this mountain, and I’ve suffered a lot because of Little Hei. See, I even have dark circles under my eyes.” Ye Wenxin started to follow up on Ling Jue’s words, foisting all the responsibility onto Ling Jue.
Ling Jue was a little confused. Facing Ye Wenxin who always defied common sense, she really did not know what she should even say.
Since Ye Wenxin blamed her, so be it.
She only hoped Ye Wenxin would not hate her.
Ling Jue pursed her lips slightly, and then felt Ye Wenxin grabbed her shoulders, as if she wanted to push Ling Jue down. Ling jue intended to put up a fight at first, but thinking this might be part of the ‘making up’, she let Ye Wenxin hold her down.
“Finally pushed you down again, Big Sister Ling.” Ye Wenxin was smiling so complacently, her face tender and delicate, already showing the makings of a beauty. Although she was clearly just a child, she had a sort of reassuring strength about her.
Ling Jue gave no resistance whatsoever, and she did not want to at all. No matter what kind of compensation Ye Wenxin wanted, if it was within Ling Jue’s ability, then she would give it to her.
As the distance closed between them, Ling Jue’s heart quickened, but Ye Wenxin simply rolled to her side and continued, “So, I want you to sleep with me these few days, and we’ll consider it your way of making up to me.”
Ling Jue felt as if she just came out of a daydream. However, after further thought, a twelve to thirteen year-old would not know much about feelings, let alone have feelings for another woman.
There was a sense of loss in her heart, but she was also grateful of Ye Wenxin doing this to wake her up.
A child managed this much, as an adult and the junior valley master of Medicine King Valley, how could she lose to a child? Ling Jue turned towards Ye Wenxin and gently hugged her from behind.
“Wenxin, thank you.”
Her voice was very soft, afraid this intimate act of hers would startle Ye Wenxin.
Even though it was so soft, Ye Wenxin still twitched a little in surprise, replying somewhat awkwardly, “I haven’t done anything.”
Ling Jue smiled and could not help but hugged a little tighter, not giving Ye Wenxin any chance to escape.
A faint affection stirred in Ling Jue’s heart, but she decided to temporarily conceal this emotion until the day she could openly stand at the pinnacle of the Martial World as a woman. Only then did she intend to let this affection continue to grow.
Now was not the time to be tempted or care about matters of love and romance.
The slumbering Ye Wenxin had not the slightest idea, and subconsciously turned over to face Ling Jue. Looking at that petite face, tender and delicate, Ling Jue’s heart could not help but skip a beat.
Not to be tempted, yet still somewhat tempted.
“Churan, I’m warning you…If you touch me again, I won’t hold back!” Unfortunately, this kind of excitement vanished instantly as Ye Wenxin struggled in her dream.
Upon hearing this name, Ling Jue immediately thought of the Wind and Moon Palace’s former Saintess Liu Churan, who had caused quite a commotion lately. However, looking at Ye Wenxin’s carefree and innocent appearance, there was no way she was a child from the Wind and Moon Palace.
Even if Ye Wenxin had truly escaped from the Wind and Moon Palace, as long as Ye Wenxin was sincere to her, she would never care where Ye Wenxin came from.
“However, if I could meet this Miss Churan, Big Sister Ling will definitely help you teach her a lesson.” Ling Jue smiled and smoothed the frown on Ye Wenxin’s face.
Ye Wenxin was unaware of what was happening to her in her sleep. She dreamed of that night again, the breeze just right, the moon it its proper place at the right time; it was the night where she and Liu Churan touched their lips together.
That was Liu Churan’s internal demon, but it seemed this obsession had also infected Ye Wenxin…
“Damn charm spell.” This was the opinion she gave as she recalled last night’s dreams after waking up the next day. She firmly believed that it was the surplus effects of the charm, making her dream of that extremely bewitching Liu Churan every day as of late.
“Little Sister Wenxin, what did you dream of last night that you were yelling so loudly?” Ling Jue, who was washing up, teased Ye Wenxin, but in fact, other than that one sentence, Ye Wenxin did not say anything else.
“It’s only an internal demon.”
“Internal demon, you have to be careful then. To have an internal demon so young, you won’t be able to cultivate smoothly in the future.” Ling Jue did not ask, as smart as she was, of course she knew Ye Wenxin also had her secrets.
Each person had their own special secret. Ling Jue only knew Ye Wenxin’s secret held no ill intent towards her.
“Yeah, internal demons are too scary.” Ye Wenxin rubbed her own face, and recalled Liu Churan had locked herself up in closed door training. She only hoped that in the process, Liu Churan could let go of her obsessions and would not attack her godmother…
Daily life at the Azure Wings Sect began as usual. However, Ling Jue worried Ye Wenxin would be kidnapped by Hei Tong on the way, so whether it was meal time or alchemy, she would try her best to follow Ye Wenxin.
“Senior Sister Long, aren’t you happy to see me?” Ye Wenxin also naturally saw Long Qing’er who she had not seen for many days. She seemed to have lost much weight, but her eyes were filled with even more radiance.
“Of course I’m happy, just without the fear from last time.”
“Fear?” Ye Wenxin did not fully get Long Qing’er’s meaning.
“Before, when you went to the backwoods for training, I worried about your safety, and endured fear and anxiety for several months. But this time, you came back after just one week, so of course, I’m happy, not fearful anymore.” Long Qing’er recounted the change in her feelings with a smile, but although she was still smiling, her tone carried a hint of sadness.
“So it’s like that. Then why don’t I ask Little Hei to take me on a stroll for a few more days, let you feel more panic.” Ye Wenxin replied seriously, and only then did Long Qing’er grabbed her arm.
“No need. You’re already back, so you’d better behave yourself.”
Ye Wenxin could not hold back a laugh, “I know Senior Sister Long is good to me. Is it because of worry that you couldn’t eat or sleep recently?”
Long Qing’er shot a blank glance at Ye Wenxin, and the force of her grip on Ye Wenxin’s arm increased a little, “No such thing. It’s only one more little concern.”
Ye Wenxin suddenly felt a bit sorry and also held onto Long Qing’er’s hand, but their hands had yet to warm when she sensed a strong gaze on her.
“Um, Senior Sister, Big Brother Ling is calling me. I have to go.” Ye Wenxin guiltily let go of the hand and hurriedly ran off to find Ling Jue.
Long Qing’er looked very displeased and glared at Ling Jue. Ling jue turned a blind eye, placing her hand gently on Ye Wenxin’s waist, showing a face full of smiles.
“Damn skirt-chaser!” Long Qing’er fumed, the long sword in her hand already raised. Ling Jue was prepared and flew towards Long Qing’er with her folding fan in hand.
Ye Wenxin watched in confusion, absolutely clueless as to why they were fighting. She could only take away the recipe and ingredients for the second-tier alchemy quietly, starting her new alchemy journey…
Over there, they were embroiled in an intense battle of cultivation, while Ye Wenxin was sweating profusely from her alchemy training. However, in just one day, she managed to explode the furnace three times, yet failed to produce any successful second-tier pills.
As the sun set in the west, only a few disciples remained with Ling Jue. Feeling somewhat disheartened, Ye Wenxin walked over to report the situation of her second-tier pill refining to Ling Jue.
Even the most talented geniuses might not fully meet the requirements of an alchemist. But to be honest, Ye Wenxin’s first attempt at refining second-tier pills turned out much better than Ling Jue had imagined, which further convinced her that she had not misjudged Ye Wenxin.
“Take your time, alchemy is a long-term endeavor. Your first attempt at refining second-tier pills was much better than mine was.” Ling Jue comforted gently. However, Ye Wenxin still seemed very dissatisfied with the result.
