I Became a Legendary Detective in the 90s Through My Pets Chapter 10

(1) Body Parts

Shen Wanwan stared at the fluffy white dog paw, then decided to close her eyes.

It must be Shen Zhuo bringing home stray cats and dogs again—and deliberately throwing them onto her bed.

She silently recited a few calming words before reopening her eyes.

She reached out and patted the bed a couple of times. Something felt different.

The surface beneath her was hard—her blanket and mattress were nowhere to be found. There was something soft underneath her, but it wasn’t as thick as her usual bedding.

Shen Wanwan stared quietly at the ceiling.

After a moment, she got up—on all fours.

…On all fours.

She had actually turned into a dog!!

At some point, a wardrobe had appeared in the room. It had a full-length mirror on the door. Panicking, Shen Wanwan scrambled toward it.

However, as someone used to walking on two legs, she struggled to coordinate her four new ones. Her back legs kicked forward frantically, but her front paws just couldn’t keep up.

She fell twice within five steps, hitting her chin once—nearly knocking out a puppy tooth.

After two minutes of painful practice, she finally adjusted to her new way of walking.

When she reached the mirror and looked inside— She had really turned into a dog. And not just any dog— She had become the very same Pekingese she’d just argued with earlier. Yang Chunling’s dog.

Having experienced transmigration before, Shen Wanwan wasn’t all that shocked by turning into a dog.

But she didn’t have time to dwell on it, because at that moment—She heard moaning.

Shen Wanwan had never dated before, but she wasn’t clueless about what that sound meant. This was Yang Chunling’s bedroom. Which meant she was probably in there… with Wu Yaoming.

Not only had she failed to get any clues out of Yang Chunling—now she had to listen to her and her boyfriend. For a moment, Shen Wanwan was filled with righteous indignation.

Even though Pekingese dogs couldn’t see many colors, she still worried about accidentally witnessing something inappropriate. She decided to hide in the living room instead.

She had been to Yang Chunling’s home before and already memorized the layout. She originally planned to hop onto the sofa for a bit, but after two jumps, she couldn’t even reach the cushion.

Shen Wanwan: “…”

Damn these short legs!

Just as she was about to try harder, she heard a satisfied sigh from the bedroom. The two people inside had already started whispering to each other.

…Wait.

Had even a minute passed?!

Shen Wanwan had no choice but to shuffle her little short legs back to the bedroom.

The two people on the bed were snuggled up together, lost in their affection.

Hoping they would say something related to the case, Shen Wanwan lifted her tiny legs and scratched at the bed.

Yang Chunling glanced over, then helplessly lifted the blanket and scooped up Shen Wanwan, the Pekingese. “You’re still so clingy.”

The man kicked the bed frame and muttered, “Your house is covered in dog hair—it’s driving me crazy.”

By then, Shen Wanwan was already being held tightly in Yang Chunling’s arms.

With a beautiful woman so close, Shen Wanwan didn’t even dare open her eyes, afraid of seeing something she shouldn’t.

She struggled for a while before Yang Chunling finally placed her next to the pillow. Then, she lightly punched the man beside her. “Huahua has been with me for years—longer than you have. How dare you say it’s bad?”

Yang Chunling sure treated her pets well.

Standing beside them, Shen Wanwan gritted her teeth at the unfriendly man, completely forgetting that she had just argued with Huahua earlier.

That’s when she realized— The man lying in bed… wasn’t Wu Yaoming.

Yang Chunling had another man?!

Yang Chunling patted the pillow and said, “Huahua, ignore him. Lie down.”

Shen Wanwan retracted her fangs.

Lie down? Oh, she wanted to. Whatever Huahua did all day, it sure left her body sore all over.

But curling up like a dog? That was way too uncomfortable.

Stubbornly, she stood for a long time—until her legs started aching.

Sniffling, Shen Wanwan accepted her fate and lay down.

She stretched out her body as much as possible—lying like a human. Then, as she leaned against Yang Chunling, she had to admit—it was quite comfortable.

Except…

Didn’t dogs like to sleep belly-up when they trusted someone?!

Shen Wanwan: “…”

The man wrapped his arms around Yang Chunling, his tone almost coquettish. “I’m just worried about you. You somehow got involved in a murder case—I don’t want you to get hurt.”

“With Wu Yaoming around, they wouldn’t dare do anything to me,” Yang Chunling said, pushing him lightly. “But you—you’re Wu Yaoming’s driver. Don’t slip up. If he finds out about us… we’re both screwed.”

Shen Wanwan: “!!”

Yang Chunling was actually fooling around with Wu Yaoming’s driver?! What a shocking piece of gossip.

The driver said, “Yeah, yeah, I know. I was the one who convinced him to go save you today. Otherwise, do you really think he cares that much about you?”

“Alright, just leave in a bit. I’m worried he might still come over.”

“What nonsense. If I don’t drive for him, where’s he gonna go?”

“Didn’t he show up last time? If he catches us together, we’re screwed.”

After arguing for a bit, the driver, ultimately afraid of Wu Yaoming, reluctantly got dressed and left.

Yang Chunling held onto Shen Wanwan as she sent the driver off.

Shen Wanwan yawned, feeling a little regretful.

If the man had stayed longer, Yang Chunling might have said something relevant to the case.

Even though she didn’t know if she could turn back into a human, she could always find a way to get a message to Cui Luo.

Just as Shen Wanwan was lost in thought, Yang Chunling carried her over to the phone.

She picked up a dust-free handkerchief, draped it over Shen Wanwan, then dialed a number. “Brother Zhao? We agreed to meet tonight—why aren’t you here yet? Ah, I’ve been waiting for you forever~”

Shen Wanwan: “…”

She, she, she…!!

In order to gather information, Shen Wanwan endured until Yang Chunling finally fell asleep. Then, she sprawled out in her little nest and passed out.

Unfortunately, Yang Chunling and that Brother Zhao only flirted—they didn’t talk about anything else.

Before falling asleep, Shen Wanwan was still thinking about the case.

By the time she woke up, daylight had already arrived.

Feeling incredibly thirsty, she groggily climbed out of bed to look for Huahua’s water in the living room.

But with a loud “thud,” she crashed to the floor.

From the top bunk came an enraged voice—

“Shen Wanwan! What the hell are you doing?! Can’t you let me sleep for once?!”

Shen Wanwan snapped awake.

She looked at her hands.

Yep, human hands.

Could it be… that last night was just a dream?

No, everything had felt too real.

Could it be that… she only transformed into Huahua at night?

Was this some kind of bizarre fate connecting her to that little dog?

As she puzzled over it, Lin Yuying knocked on the bedroom door.

“Wanwan, your team just called. They want you at work early!”

Thinking about everything she had seen at Yang Chunling’s house last night, Shen Wanwan smiled slightly.

Time to go to work.
