The two of them chatted all the way to the inn, carefully probing each other along the way, but neither revealed any information beyond their names.
This made them even more curious about each other.
When they arrived at the inn, they agreed to leave together the next morning and then went back to their rooms.
After arriving in her room, Su Qingyue surveyed the room and then instructed her maid, “Yuzhu, go bring that person over. We’ll go back tomorrow morning.”
Su Qingyue had come all this way to find this person. She had found him today and arranged for him to stay in the inn where she had previously been staying. Now that she had changed inns, she could only bring him along.
Yuzhu nodded and then said, “But Miss, didn’t you say you still had something to do? Why are you leaving now?”
Yuzhu felt that her mistress had been acting strangely since she woke up from the high fever. Her actions were unpredictable.
This time, she even sneaked out, having Yuzhu pretend to be sick and stay in the room while she only brought one maid and two bodyguards, running so far away.
Su Qingyue took off her cloak and said calmly, “Let’s go back.”
Yuzhu hurried to help her change clothes, carefully observing her mistress’s expression and asking cautiously, “Miss, is it because of that Miss Qingli that you decided to leave tomorrow?”
Su Qingyue stood there, letting Yuzhu help her change clothes, and then changed into comfortable pajamas.
“Yuzhu, have you ever heard of me having a sister or brother?”
Yuzhu shook her head. “No, Miss. I entered the mansion when I was five years old, and there has always been only one legitimate Miss in the mansion. Besides the Second Miss born to Concubine Qiao, there are no other Misses in our manor.”
Su Qingyue thought silently. In her previous life, there was never such a person.
Even in her previous life, she had never heard of having a sister or brother.
But someone who looks so similar can only be her sister, perhaps a twin sister, otherwise, they wouldn’t look so alike.
But if she had a twin sister, why didn’t her father and mother ever mention it?
Su Qingyue couldn’t figure it out.
“Miss, I’ll go get hot water.”
After helping her change clothes, Yuzhu went to get hot water.
Su Qingyue sat on the bed and waited, Qingli’s face still lingering in her mind.
In this life, her mentality had completely changed. She wouldn’t trust anyone or care about anyone anymore.
But this Qingli made her feel very good, and she couldn’t help but want to be closer to her.
She had never felt this way before.
Su Qingyue was lost in thought when she suddenly felt a chill down her spine, as if a cold wind had blown from above her head.
Su Qingyue immediately raised her head alertly, but she saw nothing above the bed curtains, only the curtains swaying slightly, as if a breeze had blown through.
Su Qingyue frowned, thinking that she hadn’t closed the window properly. She got up to close the window.
But as soon as her hand touched the window, a cold hand seemed to cover the back of her hand. This startled Su Qingyue, and she quickly retracted her hand.
A glimmer of darkness flashed in her black eyes as she carefully surveyed her surroundings, but she saw nothing.
But she felt a burning gaze watching her, making her feel goosebumps.
In her previous life, Su Qingyue had had contact with the Jiuli Temple and had learned about some unbelievable things about ghosts and spirits.
Now she suddenly felt that there might be something she couldn’t see watching over her.
This realization made her shiver, and she couldn’t help but feel afraid.
She could only pray that Yuzhu would come back soon.
She didn’t dare to close the window again, nor did she dare to sit back on the bed. She could only stand there, constantly hoping that Yuzhu would come back soon.
But as time passed, Yuzhu still hadn’t returned, and she felt a chill down her spine, as if something was surrounding her.
Su Qingyue couldn’t help but tremble. She was afraid to scream, but she held back.
She ran away quickly, grabbing the stool in front of her and swinging it wildly.
“Don’t come near me. Whatever you are, get out!”
Su Qingyue pretended to be calm and shouted loudly into the air, “Get out! Get out!”
In a place she couldn’t see, a floating ghost was leering at her, drooling disgustingly.
If Su Qingyue could see it, she would have been disgusted to death.
The ghost lunged at Su Qingyue, and its cold touch suddenly pressed against her. She couldn’t help but scream in fright.
“Get away!”
“Get away!”
Su Qingyue’s face turned pale. The feeling of being violated made her ashamed and angry, but she couldn’t see anything except that cold touch.
She could only feel a hand on her body, constantly touching her. This feeling made her helpless and angry.
Qingli had already fallen asleep, but she seemed to hear Su Qingyue’s voice. She immediately sat up and listened carefully.
“Ah! Get away!”
The cry, filled with tears, was weak and helpless, yet angry and sharp.
Qingli hurriedly got up, not even bothering to put on her shoes. She grabbed a coat and ran towards Su Qingyue’s room.
When she reached the door, the dark ghost energy enveloped Su Qingyue’s entire room. A sharp glint flashed in Qingli’s black eyes, and she immediately ran over and pushed open the door.
Inside the room, Su Qingyue’s clothes were already a bit loose, and the ghost was laughing disgustingly, constantly touching her with its dirty hands.
Su Qingyue’s face was covered in tears, and she was cowering in the corner, hugging her head and squatting down, looking miserable.
Seeing this, a wave of anger surged up in Qingli’s heart. Her eyes were like knives, wishing to gouge out the ghost.
She quickly took out a Soul-Extinguishing Talisman and threw it at the ghost.
Then she quickly grabbed a coat and wrapped it around Su Qingyue.
“Ah! Ah! Let me go, let me go!”
Su Qingyue thought that the thing had touched her and screamed in fright, struggling frantically.
Seeing her so agitated, Qingli couldn’t help but feel a pang of sadness. She pulled her into her arms and gently patted her shoulder, soothing her softly, “It’s okay, it’s okay. It’s me, it’s Qingli. Don’t be afraid. I’ve already beaten that thing to dust and ashes. It won’t appear again. Don’t be afraid.”
Hearing Qingli’s voice, Su Qingyue came to her senses and wanted to look up, but she suddenly remembered that she wasn’t wearing her veil and quickly lowered her head again.
Qingli was still gently patting her shoulder. “It’s okay, it’s okay. Don’t be afraid. I’m here! Just a little ghost, a Soul-Extinguishing Talisman will send it to dust and ashes, never to be reborn.”
Qingli comforted her gently.
Su Qingyue felt Qingli’s warmth and gradually calmed down. The scent of herbs and wood from Qingli filled her nostrils, fresh and pleasant, making her feel at ease.
“Qingli? Is it really you?”
Su Qingyue asked in a weak voice, her hands tightly clutching Qingli’s clothes, afraid that she would disappear the next second.
Qingli nodded. “Yes, it’s me. Don’t be afraid. I’ve already dealt with that thing. It won’t appear again.”
Hearing this, Su Qingyue completely relaxed. Her body went limp, no longer tense as before.
Qingli inexplicably felt a pang of sympathy and said softly, “Can you walk? Go lie down on the bed. The floor is cold.”
Su Qingyue nodded. “Yes, I can.”
Qingli let go of her, but Su Qingyue still buried her face in her knees, not raising her head.
Qingli thought she was still afraid, so she said, “Miss Su, it’s okay now. You can look up.”
Su Qingyue could only reluctantly find an excuse. “Qingli, my face… my face is disfigured. I can’t see people. Can you turn around? I don’t want you to see.”
Hearing this, Qingli suddenly understood. That’s why she had been keeping her head down, hiding her face.
She quickly turned around. “Alright, I won’t look. Go lie down on the bed quickly. The floor is cold.”
Su Qingyue carefully raised her head. Seeing that she had indeed turned her back on her, she hurried to the bed, grabbed her veil and put it on, and then sat down.
