Military Marriage: My Blind Date Turned Out to Be a Special Forces Boyhood Friend Chapter 15

Chapter 15: Another Sleepless Night

As the night came and it was time to sleep, Cheng Jinghao had just finished his shower and was fumbling around in the yard, hoping that by the time he went inside, Lin Momo would already be asleep.

What he hadn’t expected was that he had dug this pit for Lin Momo, but in the end, he had fallen into it himself.

This pursuit of a wife was long and difficult. Although the spiritual spring water helped restore his energy, the daily torment was still unbearable.

However, there was no way he could suggest sleeping separately from Lin Momo. No matter what, he had to endure it.

Cheng Jinghao took a deep breath, finally closed the door to the living room, and entered the bedroom.

“You’ve been out there wandering again?” As soon as he entered, Lin Momo yawned and spoke.

“You’re not asleep yet?” Cheng Jinghao felt a bit awkward.

“I brought you a set of pajamas. They’ll be more comfortable to sleep in. You should change,” Lin Momo turned her back to him.

“…This girl really trusts me.”

Cheng Jinghao changed into the pajamas, turned off the lights, and climbed into bed. He lay flat, trying not to move, smelling the scent of Lin Momo’s shower gel lingering in the air.

Before long, there was the soft sound of breathing from beside him—Lin Momo had fallen asleep.

Time passed second by second. Just when Cheng Jinghao thought he was about to drift off and that Lin Momo wouldn’t move around again tonight…

A soft body suddenly leaned over. This time, Lin Momo didn’t need Cheng Jinghao to cover her with a blanket—she did it herself.

One of her legs draped over his legs, and one of her arms rested on his chest. Was she treating him like a stuffed animal?

“Momo?”

But, Lin Momo was fast asleep, completely unaware of the turmoil she was causing.

“Cheng Jinghao!” As dawn broke, the quiet room was suddenly filled with a loud roar.

“Can you be quieter?” Cheng Jinghao felt like his ears were about to explode.

“What did you do last night? Why am I back in your bed again? And you…”

Lin Momo pointed at the top of Cheng Jinghao’s pajamas—his pajama buttons were all undone.

Cheng Jinghao had three black lines on his forehead. “Miss, you’re the one who undid them, not me. Am I supposed to just undo the buttons for fun?”

“And before you accuse me, can you please move your legs and arms off me?” Cheng Jinghao pointed at her small hand still resting on his chest.

“Hehe, sorry, sorry!” Lin Momo quickly rolled off him, scrambling to move.

Cheng Jinghao sat up and took off his pajamas, changing into regular clothes.

“It’s barely dawn. Go back to sleep for a while,” Cheng Jinghao glanced at her, let out a soft sigh, and walked out of the room.

“Aren’t you going to sleep a little longer?” Lin Momo asked.

“No, if I sleep any more, something bad might happen.”

Lin Momo lay in bed, hugging her blanket as she turned in a circle. Honestly, Cheng Jinghao’s physique was impressive. She wondered which lucky girl would get to enjoy it in the future.

After Cheng Jinghao finished washing up, he left the house and just happened to run into Zhao Zhigang, who was up early for training.

“I just heard some noise coming from your house,” Zhao Zhigang teased as he looked at Cheng Jinghao with a smile.

Cheng Jinghao gave him a glance but didn’t respond.

“I’m just saying, even though you’ve just gotten married and are still in your prime, you should be careful. Your wife isn’t a delicate little girl, and you need to learn how to cherish her,” Zhao Zhigang threw his arm around Cheng Jinghao’s shoulder in a “senior” manner.

“Get off,” Cheng Jinghao shook off his arm and strode forward.

“Hey, wait a minute, are you really that fired up this morning? Did your sister-in-law not help cool you down?” Zhao Zhigang chased after Cheng Jinghao.

“Comrade Zhao Zhigang, are you really so curious about other people’s private affairs? You’ve got a problem with your mindset. You should let the political commissar have a good talk with you.” Cheng Jinghao pointed at him.

Cheng Jinghao had planned to run a couple of laps at the training field, but Zhao Zhigang’s words had completely killed his interest.

“Come on, I was just joking. Why bring up the political commissar?”

“Hey, did you really have a fight with your sister-in-law this morning?” Zhao Zhigang knew he was joking, so he didn’t take it seriously.

“No, we didn’t fight.”

“Let me tell you, women need to be pampered. Doesn’t the supply and marketing agency have those cute hair ties? Buy a couple for your sister-in-law, she’ll definitely like them.” Zhao Zhigang patted Cheng Jinghao on the shoulder.

“Don’t those from the Beijing Department Store look better than the ones from the supply and marketing agency? She won’t care for that stuff.” Lin Momo had plenty of hair ties and clips in her space. Would she really be impressed with the stuff from this era?

“You just don’t get it. It’s not about how nice they look; it’s the thought that counts.” Zhao Zhigang spoke convincingly.

Cheng Jinghao glanced at him, and it seemed like Zhao Zhigang had a point. He then extended his hand.

“What are you doing?” Zhao Zhigang looked at him.

“Lend me some money.”

“Hey, it’s always us old guys borrowing money from you. How come you’re doing this now?” Zhao Zhigang looked at him.

“I gave all my money to my wife.” Cheng Jinghao said proudly.

“You didn’t save any for yourself?” Zhao Zhigang asked while pulling out some money.

“Nope, just kept the train ticket money. Everything else went to her.”

“Haha, good man. Looks like you two are really a match made in heaven.” Zhao Zhigang took out five yuan and handed it to Cheng Jinghao.

“This is the last bit of pocket money I have this month.”

“Your sister-in-law only gives you five yuan a month? And you still let her have all of it?” Zhao Zhigang was puzzled, but Cheng Jinghao put the money into his pocket.

“You go train, I’m off to the supply and marketing agency.”

“Hey, hey, hey.” Zhao Zhigang grabbed him.

“What now?”

“Aren’t you going to treat me to a meal on your one day off?” Zhao Zhigang asked, looking at him.

“I just got married, and you want me to treat you to a meal? You wouldn’t even bring a gift, right? Let’s save some money.” Cheng Jinghao patted Zhao Zhigang’s arm. If he wanted to eat Lin Momo’s cooking, he’d have to wait; no chance of getting it from him today.

“You’ve got a point.”

“Alright, go train.” Cheng Jinghao waved his hand, still in a rush to buy hair ties for Momo.

“The supply and marketing agency isn’t even open. Why the rush?” Zhao Zhigang shouted after him, but Cheng Jinghao didn’t bother to reply.

In the end, Cheng Jinghao still bought the hair ties. Honestly, he didn’t care for the products of this era, not even for Lin Momo.

The hair ties weren’t great, but they were simple in design and muted in color.

When Cheng Jinghao got home, Lin Momo had just woken up and was combing her hair.

“Here.” He placed the hair tie in front of her.

“Did you buy this?” Lin Momo picked up the hair tie and examined it. “I’ve got plenty in my space, and my sister-in-law brought me quite a few too.”

“Hmm, Zhao and the others bought some for their wives. I didn’t want to be the odd one out, so I bought it. Go ahead and wear it.” Cheng Jinghao glanced at the other hair ties and ribbons on her table. They were definitely better than the one he bought.

“Oh.” Lin Momo didn’t refuse it. Fortunately, it wasn’t the bright red hair tie from this era that she definitely wouldn’t have worn.

Seeing her wear it, Cheng Jinghao smiled contentedly and went off to make breakfast.
