Thanks to Jiang Nanxi’s intervention, the chaotic classroom quickly became orderly. Tang Wanning observed Jiang Nanxi’s masterful handling of the children. Since the lesson was about chicks finding their mothers, Jiang Nanxi cleverly integrated a game into the first-grade PE class, recreating the story’s plot through play.
After a busy forty minutes, class ended. Principal Wang made the closing remarks. The children, initially unruly, had developed a fondness for Jiang Nanxi and the other guests. As they left, some children asked, “Will you come back, Sister?” Their innocent eyes were heartbreaking.
Leng Yuanzhi and Si Ying’s music class went well. On their way to lunch, Leng Yuanzhi and Si Ying proposed an idea.
“How about we hold a concert for the kids when we leave tomorrow?”
Tang Wanning corrected, “Teacher Leng, for kids, it’s called a cultural performance.”
Leng Yuanzhi smiled, “Right, a cultural performance. I had this idea because of something the kids said today.”
Leng Yuanzhi explained that the children rarely participated in school activities. Her granddaughter’s school, from kindergarten, had constant activities: poetry recitations, performances, parent-child events. Later, parents organized modeling competitions, fashion shows, even mini-host activities. Her granddaughter was tired of it all. But for these children, having the opportunity to study was a blessing; how could they expect extra-curricular activities?
Leng Yuanzhi felt uneasy. She knew she couldn’t change everything alone, but if they could bring a little light and color to these children’s lives, it would be worthwhile. Everyone agreed. The only issue was securing the production team’s support.
Jiang Nanxi was tasked with approaching the director. The director was exasperated; what else could he say? These guests were more proactive than him.
“We can arrange other things,” the director said, “but the program aspects need your own planning.”
“No problem,” Si Ying said confidently, “Talent shows? That’s my specialty!”
Tang Wanning reminded her, “Sister Si Ying, your specialty is love songs.” Si Ying realized she didn’t have any songs suitable for children. Leng Yuanzhi changed the subject.
“After teaching so many kids, any thoughts?”
Tang Wanning nodded seriously, “Yes. The kids are cute, but no marriage, no children, peace of mind.”
Leng Yuanzhi: “…”
Tang Wanning sighed, “Still, someone like Teacher Xia is the best.”
Xia Zhiyan: “Me?”
Tang Wanning said earnestly, “Yes, you. Why didn’t my mother give me a chance to raise a sweet sister like Nan Nan?” She looked longingly at Jiang Nanxi, “Nan Nan, how about we become sworn sisters?”
Before Jiang Nanxi could respond, Xia Zhiyan playfully kicked Tang Wanning’s leg. “Don’t be silly,” Xia Zhiyan said. Jiang Nanxi added, “Wanning Jie, I already have a sister.”
Tang Wanning sighed, “I can’t compare to Xia Zhiyan.” She dramatically wiped away nonexistent tears. Xia Zhiyan said, “Just act.” Ruan Qiuci jokingly offered, “Nan Nan has a sister, how about me, Wanning Jie?” Tang Wanning immediately clung to Ruan Qiuci. Ruan Qiuci was taken aback.
Tang Wanning nuzzled Ruan Qiuci’s shoulder. Ruan Qiuci regretted her words. She noticed Tang Wanning hadn’t smudged her makeup on her clothes. She decided to find out what brand of foundation Tang Wanning used.
Because of this, Tang Wanning stuck with Ruan Qiuci during the afternoon activities. “My team is with my Ruan Meimei,” Tang Wanning announced, claiming a team for the off-road motorcycle challenge. The remaining teams formed quickly: Leng Yuanzhi and Si Ying, Xia Zhiyan and Jiang Nanxi. The winning team earned living expenses and funds for the cultural performance.
The actresses were determined, but seeing the off-road motorcycles, they hesitated. “Is this safe?” Si Ying asked fearfully. The off-road motorcycles were powerful, with no doors or windows, just a seatbelt. Tang Wanning worried, “So dangerous?” Xia Zhiyan also frowned, “A little unsafe.” She looked at Jiang Nanxi, “Nan Nan, are you okay?” Jiang Nanxi, despite her slight fear, nodded, clinging to Xia Zhiyan’s clothes, “It’s okay, Sister is here.” Xia Zhiyan agreed to drive, and Jiang Nanxi would sit beside her.
Tang Wanning asked Ruan Qiuci, “Meimei, are you okay?” Ruan Qiuci shook her head. Tang Wanning sighed, “Is this money absolutely necessary?” She didn’t want to be Jiang Nanxi’s sister anymore; she wanted to be Xia Zhiyan’s sister. Life was precious.
