The End of the World Scavenger: I Win by Turning Waste into Treasure
The End of the World Scavenger: I Win by Turning Waste into Treasure Chapter 29: Trust

Because Lin Chu had said before that the method of killing must be decisive and swift to preserve as much of the intact parts of the zombie as possible, the four zombies that Yu Hongfei brought were all ones he had killed by following Lin Chu’s example of a single headshot.

Except for their skulls, the rest of their bodies were perfectly intact.

Seeing that Yu Hongfei was here to deliver the corpses, Zheng Ziyu just told him to wait for a moment and then turned around to return to her shelter.

It wasn’t long before she dragged out four more zombie corpses.

These were the ones she killed last night because Lin Chu had said she wanted to rest, so she didn’t disturb her and planned to bring them over the next morning.

Who would have thought that in the middle of the night, a man would come over to her place and start stirring things up!

“Chu Chu, I have four here too. Since you said you wanted to rest, I thought I’d bring them over tomorrow instead.”

Hearing Zheng Ziyu’s explanation, Yu Hongfei felt a little embarrassed.

He awkwardly scratched his head and grinned at Lin Chu, saying, “Ah, sorry, I didn’t realize I’d disturb your rest. I should have come tomorrow morning.”

He had only been thinking about the hot weather and didn’t want the zombies to spoil, forgetting that Lin Chu had worked hard all day yesterday.

Lin Chu waved her hand, “It’s fine, since you’re already here, we can talk about the distribution of the zombies later.”

“I’ll take these zombies for now. I owe you four zombie parts each. I’ll dissect two zombies a day, and each of you will get one. You can come every day to collect them, and we’ll settle the payment then.”

“No problem, right?”

When Lin Chu said this, Yu Hongfei and Zheng Ziyu both nodded enthusiastically, their heads bobbing like chickens pecking at rice.

Upon hearing Lin Chu’s last sentence, the two of them immediately spoke up in unison, “No problem!”

“Once these zombies are used up, you can bring new ones over. Too many would start to rot.”

She didn’t want anyone to find out she had a space that could preserve things.

The two agreed again.

Lin Chu enjoyed working with such obedient and intelligent people.

Seeing this, she didn’t say more but set up an appointment for the two of them to meet the next evening at 9 PM and sent them off.

She then moved the eight zombies back to the shelter and quickly stored them in her space.

The zombie world seemed to be in the transition between spring and summer, with the temperature rising daily.

After some activity, Lin Chu was already sweating again.

She remembered seeing a few desktop fans in the office building at Yu Hongfei’s shelter last night, but she worried that taking too many things might attract attention, so she didn’t take them.

Tomorrow, when Yu Hongfei comes to collect the zombie parts, she’ll have to ask him to bring a few fans for her.

With the plan set, Lin Chu drank a cup of milk as a late-night snack and fell asleep again.

The next morning, she got up early, as usual, stored the shelves in her space, did some physical training in the hallway, and after finishing, took a shower. She then took out a sandwich and a cup of milk tea from her space for breakfast.

She then headed to the dissection room to start her work for the day.

Prior to this, Lin Chu had already dissected 20 zombie bodies.

Now, in her white lab coat with a dissection knife in hand, she was very much in her element.

In one day, she could dissect three zombie bodies.

The reason she told Yu Hongfei and Zheng Ziyu that she would dissect two a day was because she still needed to complete her tasks.

She always completed her tasks first because the rewards were 100% hers.

By the time evening came at 9 PM, Lin Chu had already dissected three zombies, changed into clean hospital clothes, eaten a fresh, warm plate of pasta, and was waiting for Yu Hongfei and Zheng Ziyu to arrive.

The two arrived right on time, almost at exactly 8:59:59, with Zheng Ziyu opening the shelter door.

Yu Hongfei also walked in right on time.

Seeing him, Zheng Ziyu only nodded slightly, not intending to speak.

Yu Hongfei, feeling awkward, could only scratch the bridge of his nose.

After yesterday’s events, he knew that Lin Chu sometimes needed to rest and that coming too early would disturb her, so he waited outside and only entered when he heard the two-ponytail girl open the door.

Zheng Ziyu didn’t bother with any attempt to ease the atmosphere.

Since the first day they were sent into the mission world, she had known that men were no good.

That day, there were so many strong-looking men around her, but in the end, only Lin Chu had pulled her out of certain death.

Later, those men even tried to wipe them all out.

This made her lose trust in all men and replace it with intense suspicion.

In this world, the only person she trusted was Lin Chu, the first person to show her kindness.

When Lin Chu came out, she saw Yu Hongfei standing by the bathroom door, keeping a two-meter distance from Zheng Ziyu.

The former occasionally looked up, wanting to speak, but unsure what to say, while the latter stared at her shelter with a steely gaze that clearly said “Don’t come near.”

Lin Chu wasn’t bothered by this.

Both of them were just her partners. How they got along was up to them; as long as they didn’t fight, she didn’t care.

Lin Chu held two burlap sacks, handing one to Zheng Ziyu and the other to Yu Hongfei.

Through the experience she and Zheng Ziyu had previously worked out, they always made it an even 200.

This time, each sack contained exactly 200 parts.

Zheng Ziyu took the sack and quickly submitted her mission in front of them.

Yu Hongfei, this being his first transaction, opened the sack and found it full of tiny but complete zombie bones. He couldn’t help but gasp in awe.

When he snapped back to reality, Zheng Ziyu’s sack was already halfway submitted.

He hurriedly followed suit, opening his sack and starting to submit his daily task.

This time, Lin Chu didn’t ask them to redeem anything immediately but told them to save up their points and once they accumulated 50 points, they could redeem a health pill for her.

Hearing Lin Chu’s request, Yu Hongfei nodded in agreement, but Zheng Ziyu had already handed Lin Chu a white pill.

Seeing the two of them looking at her, Zheng Ziyu smiled and said, “Consider this a prepayment.”

“You’re not afraid that after I take the things, I won’t help you with dissection anymore?”

Looking into her bright, clear eyes, Lin Chu was momentarily unsure whether to call her naive or to say she was too trusting.

She dared to give them the zombie parts in advance and let them save up to redeem the pill because she knew that both of them were smart and understood the difference between a single meal and continuous meals.

If they broke their word, they would only be hurting themselves. Lin Chu trusted that intelligent people wouldn’t choose to break the deal before finishing their tasks.

She was doing something that no one else could replace.

Without her, they would struggle to find another suitable partner.

Just relying on themselves, even if they worked themselves to the bone for 30 days, wouldn’t match the profits they could make in 10 days of working with her.

That was her confidence.

Zheng Ziyu, hearing her words, shook her head seriously.

“You’re not afraid we won’t help you redeem and you’ll work for nothing. What do I have to be afraid of?”

“I’ve managed to survive with the anti-theft doors thanks to your help with dissections. Even if you really don’t help me anymore, I’ll accept it.”

This was complete trust in her, and Lin Chu felt a complicated, indescribable feeling in her heart.

Having dealt with the dead for so long, Lin Chu rarely experienced the feeling of being trusted by the living.

Even in her original world, there was little such wholehearted trust between people. Yet, in this endless apocalypse, she had encountered it.

With a complex mood, Lin Chu accepted the health pill. Just as she was about to say something, she felt a sudden weight in her hands.
