Chapter 27: Fixing the Truck (Part 1)
Splitting half of something between two people, Lu Qingguo couldn’t refuse.
Zhao Xiulan ate slowly, and even though she still had a small portion of noodles left in her bowl, her stomach was full.
Perhaps because the original owner’s living conditions were so poor, they had been hungry for so many years that their intestines had shrunk, and their appetite was limited.
Unlike Zhao Xiulan, the appetites of Jiang Cheng and Lu Qingguo, two grown men, were much stronger.
They had already been given extra portions of noodles, each had eaten a pig’s trotter, and still didn’t feel full! Fortunately, Jiang Cheng had ordered two more steamed buns.
The steamed buns were a bit hard, so the two of them dipped them in the egg soup before eating. With two plates of dishes, they finally filled their stomachs.
Although Jiang Cheng’s table had ordered more dishes, they were the first to finish. Zhao Xiulan ate slowly and finished later than Jiang Cheng.
Zhao Xiulan couldn’t eat the remaining noodles anymore, so she left them on the table. Wasting food was shameful nowadays!
But she couldn’t take them back either. There were several weirdos in Zhao’s family who were watching, so she could only waste them like this!
Zhao Xiulan wiped her mouth and got up to leave the state-owned restaurant.
As soon as she stepped out of the door, she noticed a Liberation brand small truck parked in front of the state-owned restaurant.
Zhao Xiulan was somewhat surprised. She didn’t expect to see a truck in such a small place.
Thinking about the information she had browsed through in her space; trucks were still relatively rare in this era. Usually, these Liberation brand trucks were used by units for transportation, but only a very small number of units owned them.
In their production team, there were no cars or trucks like this at all. So, when they came to the county town, there was no convenient public transportation.
For long distances, they would ride ox carts or donkey carts, and under normal circumstances, they relied on their own two legs.
To go to even farther places, they could only take buses or trains.
The Liberation brand truck parked in front of the state-owned restaurant was probably ninety percent new. Facing this “antique,” Zhao Xiulan observed it with great interest for a while.
While Zhao Xiulan was looking at the truck, she noticed Lu Qingguo tinkering with tools in front of the truck.
Lu Qingguo muttered to himself as he tinkered, “Hmm, what’s wrong with this? It was fine just now!”
Jiang Cheng couldn’t help much beside him, “Qingguo, don’t rush, let’s fix it slowly.”
“Okay, Acheng, just wait a moment!”
“Sure, Qingguo, take your time!”
After inspecting the equipment everywhere, Lu Qingguo didn’t find any faults. Feeling somewhat frustrated, he scratched his head, “Strange, I didn’t see anything wrong! What should I do now? There are no technicians here, so we can’t repair it. Hmm, it’s all my fault for not being skilled enough, otherwise, I wouldn’t have been unable to find the problem, and now I don’t even know where to start with the repair.”
Seeing this, Zhao Xiulan took a step forward, “Comrade, may I ask if there’s anything I can help with?”
Both Lu Qingguo and Jiang Cheng looked at Zhao Xiulan, the girl they had just had dinner with at the state-owned restaurant.
Lu Qingguo shook his head and said to Zhao Xiulan, “Thank you, but my truck is broken, and it’s not easy to fix. I’m at a loss, and you can’t help much.”
It wasn’t that Lu Qingguo looked down on Zhao Xiulan, but trucks were special, and there were really not many people who could repair trucks.
He had even received special training and learned how to repair trucks, but he still couldn’t fix them. Zhao Xiulan looked like a country person at first glance, and she definitely hadn’t been exposed to truck repair methods, and might not have even seen a truck, let alone repaired one.
Of course, Lu Qingguo appreciated Zhao Xiulan’s offer!
