Chapter 40 Brother Xun, You Have No Martial Ethics

The aroma made Mu Jingxun and Bai Ziyong eager for dinner. After half an hour, they finally ate. Bai Ziyong tried the ribs first. The meat was tender; it fell off the bone. The texture and flavor were excellent. People in that era loved fatty meat because of food shortages. But Bai Ziyong found the ribs better than fatty meat.

Jiang Li smiled, “Don’t just eat ribs; try the large intestines. They’re even better.” Bai Ziyong looked at the intestines, remembering cleaning them.  “Sister Li, is this really edible?  Really delicious?” Jiang Li raised an eyebrow.

“Don’t you trust my cooking?” Bai Ziyong trusted her, but he was hesitant.  He hesitated to pick up his chopsticks.  “Sister Li, I trust you,” Mu Jingxun said, taking a piece of intestine. Bai Ziyong looked at him in admiration.  He waited for Mu Jingxun’s opinion.  Mu Jingxun was silent for a moment, surprised by the flavor.

He hadn’t expected the intestines, so smelly before cooking, to be so delicious.  He shook his head. “Not delicious. Don’t eat it.” But he quickly picked up more intestines.  Bai Ziyong understood. Mu Jingxun wanted to eat them all. “Brother Xun, that’s not fair. I want some too!” He quickly took a piece. Jiang Li smiled. Mu Jingxun was a bit sly.

Bai Ziyong, after tasting the intestines, was shocked. “Sister Li, you’re amazing! You turned trash into treasure! How did you make something so smelly so delicious?” Jiang Li smiled. “If you like it, I’ll make it again.” Large intestines were cheap and didn’t require coupons.  They enjoyed their meal, as did the other educated youths.

They rarely ate meat; today, they had a feast. After eating, the older educated youths remembered Peng Zhigang hadn’t returned. Lin Shuyin, the female team leader, knocked on Jiang Li’s door.

“Jiang Zhiqing, did you see Peng Zhiqing today?” Jiang Li, who had seen him, said no. Lin Shuyin said, “If you see him, tell us.”  She then knocked on Mu Jingxun and Bai Ziyong’s door. “Lin Zhiqing, what’s up?” “Peng Zhiqing hasn’t returned.  Have you seen him?” They wouldn’t reveal what happened on the mountain.

They had stolen his clothes; he was probably hiding. They guessed he would sneak back at night.  They said they hadn’t seen him and offered to help search. They actually wanted to see him naked.

They were eager to see what happened to the scumbag. Lin Shuyin considered searching for him.  But it was late at night; where could they look?  Maybe he was delayed.  They decided to wait until morning.

They decided to wait until morning to see if Peng Zhigang returned. If not, they would tell the team leader to organize a search.  It would be easier to search during the day, with more people.  If the team couldn’t find him, they could report it to the police, which was better than the educated youths searching at night.

After washing up, Jiang Li meditated.  The spiritual energy here was richer; her cultivation progressed faster than in her past life. In her past life, she’d used Xuanmen resources, but this time, she hadn’t. After cultivating, she felt an increase in merit points.  She had expected a few points, but she received over a hundred.

She divined the source and found it came from Bai Ziyong.  She had saved him from the wild boars; without her, he might have been injured.  The high merit points were due to Bai Ziyong’s potential for future contributions to China and his ancestors’ accumulated merit.
