Chapter 55 Jiang Li vs. Wild Wolf
Lin Cheng’s sweat intensified. It was over; the girl couldn’t escape now. He was exasperated by her disobedience. Did she think she could help? She was being reckless. These were formidable wolves that even experienced hunters feared. Yet, she was approaching them. The wolves, with their sharp fangs, edged closer to Jiang Li.
Lin Cheng picked up a stone and threw it at one of the wolves, “Eat me first! Don’t bully a little girl!” After distracting the wolves, he urged Jiang Li, “Little girl, run! You have a chance now, but not for long!” The enraged wolves turned their attention back to him, lunging towards him.
Jiang Li saw Lin Cheng under attack and said, “Since you beasts want to die, don’t blame me.” She launched a swift attack.
Lin Cheng watched in astonishment as Jiang Li moved faster than the wolves, striking them with incredible speed. She used only her fists, each blow incredibly powerful. Several punches later, the wolves lay bleeding on the ground.
Lin Cheng was dumbfounded. What was happening? Was Jiang Li human? She had taken on several wolves, not rabbits.
After subduing the wolves, Jiang Li wiped the blood from her fists with a towel. Concerned about other wolves, she used her spiritual sense to scan the surroundings, confirming there was no further danger. She then addressed Lin Cheng, “Be careful next time. If you encounter wolves again, climb a tree.
” Lin Cheng finally regained his composure. “Comrade, what’s your name? Thank you so much. Your skills are incredible! You killed those wolves barehanded!” He was still in shock. Even elite soldiers wouldn’t easily kill wolves barehanded. This girl was extraordinary. Lin Cheng, unfamiliar with Jiang Li, assumed she was a new educated youth. Jiang Li revealed her identity, “I’m Jiang Li, a new educated youth in the Victory Production Brigade.
I learned some martial arts before coming here.” Lin Cheng’s expression confirmed his guess. He thought her statement, “I know some martial arts,” was incredibly modest. Jiang Li began processing the wolves. The meat couldn’t be wasted. She kept three wolves and gave one to Lin Cheng. “We share the spoils.
I killed them, but you attracted them, so you get one.” Lin Cheng was speechless. She was kind, not only killing the wolves but also sharing the meat. “I’m going down the mountain. Be careful.” Lin Cheng, carrying his wolf, thanked her again.
While Mu Jingxun and Bai Ziyong had given him cured meat and canned goods, fresh meat was more nutritious. He would share the wolf meat with the other two families in the bullpen.
They supported each other. Since Lin Cheng witnessed the kill, Jiang Li couldn’t store the wolves in her spatial ring but carried them down the mountain.
There were regulations regarding game; wolves weren’t to be handed over to the production brigade, so Jiang Li could keep them. When Jiang Li returned to the educated youth center with the three wolves, Mu Jingxun and Bai Ziyong were stunned. “Sister Jiang, did you hunt these?” Bai Ziyong asked, pointing at the wolves.
Jiang Li nodded, “Is there a problem?” Bai Ziyong shook his head. No problem. Jiang Li had previously killed wild boars, so killing wolves wasn’t a big deal. “Sister Jiang, you’re amazing! You took down those ferocious wolves!” Mu Jingxun asked, “Comrade Jiang, do you need help processing these wolves?” Jiang Li found the task gory, so she let Mu Jingxun handle it. Three wolves yielded about 120 jin of meat, enough to last a long time.
As Mu Jingxun processed the meat, other educated youths returned from work. Seeing the wolves, they were envious. Mu Jingxun gave the processed meat to Jiang Li, “Comrade Jiang, after removing the innards and bones, there’s about 120 jin of meat.
” Jiang Li wouldn’t share it equally among all the team members as it wouldn’t be much per person. She planned to give each educated youth a jin, as a gesture of goodwill.
