Chapter 63 She is young, so I am not considering dating her for now
Liu Yulan, craving meat since the last time she ate wild boar, felt resentful towards Jiang Li. She grumbled to Sun Wenwen, “Wenwen, Jiang Li’s life is so good. She eats meat every day and never shares with us. She’s so stingy!” She wouldn’t dare complain to other educated youths; they would mock her.
Sun Wenwen thought Liu Yulan was shameless, always trying to take advantage of others. She didn’t want to associate with Liu Yulan, who had also taken advantage of her, eating several bags of her city-bought biscuits.
She’d distance herself once Jiang Li was dealt with. Sun Wenwen responded, “Yeah, she doesn’t share with strangers, and she doesn’t share with you, her classmate! She’s so ungrateful. She won’t share with her old classmate but shares with those male educated youths.
She prioritizes romance over friendship!” Liu Yulan’s resentment grew. Jiang Li was nicer to the new male educated youths than to her.
Seeing Jiang Li’s closeness with Mu Jingxun and Bai Ziyong, Liu Yulan sneered, “She’s a vixen, trying to seduce them. She’s not worthy of them.
” Sun Wenwen agreed. Mu Jingxun came from a good family and would become a high-ranking official; Jiang Li wasn’t a suitable match. Mu Jingxun was hers. Tonight, she would act, forever binding Jiang Li and Li Ermazi.
Sun Wenwen glared at Jiang Li’s room before returning to her own. Bai Ziyong waited impatiently for the lamb. Jiang Li smiled, “It’ll be a while. Why don’t you go for a walk?” Bai Ziyong shook his head, “Sister Jiang, I’ll stay here.
Even smelling the aroma is good. The lamb chops smell amazing!” Mu Jingxun rolled his eyes, “That’s obvious. Sister Jiang’s cooking is always delicious.”
“Brother Mu, learn from Sister Jiang. After we return to the city, I won’t be able to eat her cooking. You can cook for me then.” Mu Jingxun said, “Go to sleep. You’ll dream of food.” “Brother Mu, I’m just joking.
But seriously, I’ll miss her cooking. Sister Jiang, why don’t you become my sister-in-law? I have two unmarried brothers. I can introduce you. Then I can eat at your place often!” Bai Ziyong thought this was a great idea.
Mu Jingxun was not pleased. “Bai Ziyong, is that even possible? Your brothers are much older than Jiang Li. It’s inappropriate.
” Bai Ziyong thought for a moment, then remembered his cousin, “I have a cousin, your age, working at a newspaper in Beijing. He’s good-looking, has a good job, and a good personality. Consider him?” Mu Jingxun knew his cousin and knew he was a good match. But he wouldn’t allow Jiang Li to date anyone else.
He quickly interrupted, “Jiang Li is young. Let’s not rush into relationships. We can consider this later.” Bai Ziyong glared at Mu Jingxun, “Brother Mu, you don’t learn cooking from Sister Jiang, and you’re stopping me from introducing her to someone.
Are you trying to deprive me of delicious food?” Mu Jingxun thought Bai Ziyong was foolish, only thinking about food. He had even “sold” his brothers to Jiang Li for food. Jiang Li, seeing their bickering, smiled, “I’m young and not considering relationships. Brother Mu is right. I’ll wait a few years.
” She knew the college entrance exam would resume soon. She wanted to finish college before considering marriage.
There was no need to date.
Dating without the intention of marriage was wrong; she didn’t want to be labeled a bad person. Seeing Jiang Li’s stance, Bai Ziyong, though disappointed, didn’t press the issue. Mu Jingxun felt relieved but also a little sad.
If Jiang Li wasn’t considering relationships, did that mean he had no chance? He’d have to wait several years before confessing, or he’d likely be rejected. He felt disheartened, but Bai Ziyong and Jiang Li didn’t notice. Jiang Li watched the lamb chops carefully, fearing they’d overcook. Bai Ziyong eagerly awaited the finished dish.
Jiang Li judged the time was right. When the sauce had thickened, she took out a lamb chop for Bai Ziyong to test the tenderness.
If it was too tough, she would add water and cook it longer. “Sister Jiang, it’s perfect!” Bai Ziyong praised the taste, “Sister Jiang, these lamb chops are so fragrant and delicious!” Jiang Li served the remaining chops, and they ate.
After dinner, Jiang Li took the pills she had refined and began cultivating to absorb their essence.
