Chapter 5

Lin Senmu and Jiang Yuan

In the early morning, the glaring sunlight streamed through the train window into the compartment.

The girl on the lower bunk fluttered her eyelashes and opened her beautiful eyes. Instead of the ceiling and walls, her gaze fell upon the dining table and sofa.

Jiang Yuan was utterly bewildered. “What’s going on? Why am I not in my own bed?”

She swung her legs off the bed and stood up straight. In that instant, she saw the boy playing with his phone on the upper bunk.

She stared directly at the boy, her face cold. “Little brother, please explain!”

Lin Senmu noticed the “110” on her phone screen, ready to dial, and said irritably, “You took my bed, so I had to sleep on your upper bunk.”

“Nonsense! How could I have crawled into your bed?!”

Jiang Yuan couldn’t believe such an explanation. Wasn’t it him who carried her down from the upper bunk? And then found it easy to bring her down but couldn’t manage to put her back up!

“That’s the truth. Think about it yourself.”

Sitting cross-legged on the upper bunk, Lin Senmu spread his hands.

After the dreamlike situation last night, Lin Senmu had planned to sleep peacefully with the girl, since she had come to him in her confusion.

Besides, it was his bed. Why should Lin Senmu give it up?

But after being hugged by the girl for a while, Lin Senmu couldn’t handle her endless little antics.

While asleep, she was all over the place—her small hands wandered into his clothes, up and down, almost making Lin Senmu lose control and take advantage of the tender cabbage that had come to him.

Fearing a three-year sentence, Lin Senmu was forced to give up his lower bunk.

“Ah?”

Jiang Yuan recalled a scene where she seemed to have gotten off the bed to turn off the air conditioner and then never climbed back up to the upper bunk.

Her slender finger, which had been hovering near the emergency call button, quietly relaxed. In an instant, her face flushed crimson.

Then, Jiang Yuan quickly crouched down, hugging her knees, hiding herself.

“Oh my, please let Yuan Yuan get off at the next stop!”

“This is so embarrassing. How am I going to face him next?”

The voice of the train attendant sounded outside, “Congee, pumpkin porridge, fried dough sticks, breakfast for fifteen yuan. Any passengers interested?”

Hearing the call, Lin Senmu jumped down from the upper bunk and opened the door. Glancing at the girl crouching on the floor, he asked, “What would you like to eat?”

“Ah? Whatever!”

Jiang Yuan responded in a muffled voice, not daring to look up.

“There’s no ‘whatever.’ Congee, pumpkin porridge, or fried dough sticks, choose one!”

Lin Senmu urged her to decide.

“Then pumpkin porridge.”

Jiang Yuan answered softly.

After buying the breakfast, Lin Senmu placed it on the dining table and looked at the girl still crouching on the floor, exuding an extremely delicate aura.

He didn’t intend to embarrass the girl and deliberately glossed over the incident. “Go wash up and have breakfast. I’ve already forgotten about last night!”

“Mm-hmm.”

Jiang Yuan, still crouching, turned and rushed towards the bathroom. At the sink, she cupped water in her hands and continuously splashed it on her burning cheeks.

After a long while, Lin Senmu finished his breakfast but still hadn’t seen the girl come out. He called, “Are you done? The porridge is getting cold.”

Jiang Yuan rinsed her mouth and, after calming down a bit, hesitantly walked out.

Lin Senmu tried to make conversation: “I’m heading to the Western Regions. What about you?”

“Me too.”

Jiang Yuan huddled in the sofa, silently sipping her porridge.

“Want to add me on Green Bubble?”

Lin Senmu held his phone, his purpose in finding a topic was simply to make friends with the girl.

Jiang Yuan hung her head even lower, “No, all my embarrassing moments in life have been witnessed by you. I feel like jumping off the train right now!”

Lin Senmu wasn’t pleased. If she wouldn’t add him as a friend, then he would escalate, “Hurry up and let me scan your code. I’ve already been slept by you!”

“As if you didn’t sleep me too!”

Jiang Yuan was both shy and annoyed. Although it was her fault, she had given him quite a few benefits!

After falling asleep, she thought she was hugging her big teddy bear at home, so she ended up doing all sorts of things—rubbing and kissing—which must have made him feel great, right?

“Stop dawdling, add me as a friend!”

Lin Senmu was slightly forceful. He didn’t want to miss this girl; too many coincidences meant it was fate.

“Fine, I’ll add you. Why are you so fierce?”

Jiang Yuan looked up at him with a resentful gaze.

“I’m not being fierce!”

Lin Senmu softened his tone. With a *ding*, he scanned the girl’s QR code and introduced himself, “Let’s get to know each other. I’m Lin Senmu, meaning ‘forest wood.'”

“Jiang Yuan, like a paper kite.”

Jiang Yuan spoke softly, her name meaning ‘kite.’

“You eat slowly, I’m going to catch up on sleep.”

Having achieved his goal, Lin Senmu rubbed his tired eyes and lay down on the lower bunk.

He hadn’t slept well, not at all.

After being woken up in the middle of the night, he was constantly disturbed by the sleeping girl.

At his age, full of youthful vigor, how could he withstand such stimulation? He almost wanted to reward himself with a trip to the bathroom!

Jiang Yuan had golden pumpkin porridge stuck to her lips. She hesitated, wanting to speak but holding back, until she finally couldn’t resist reminding him, “Lin Senmu, you should change your pillow!”

Lin Senmu looked at her and said quietly, “Both pillows have your drool marks!”

“…”

Jiang Yuan fell silent.

She secretly made a vow, determined to break the habit of drooling in her sleep!

Lin Senmu turned to face the wall, not wanting the girl to see his sleeping face.

After pulling up the blanket, he comfortably closed his eyes, “Hmm, the blanket on the upper bunk smells so nice, and now the blanket on my lower bunk smells nice too. Jiang Yuan has a jasmine scent on her!”

After breakfast, Jiang Yuan cleaned up and didn’t go back to the upper bunk. Instead, she sat on the sofa, propping her chin with her hand, staring intently at the boy sleeping across from her.

After everything that had happened, she had developed a strong liking for Lin Senmu.

But they were both too young!

Jiang Yuan looked at the Green Bubble interface, where she had opened Lin Senmu’s profile.

It showed that Lin Senmu was from Xingcheng City, Xiangchu Province, while she was from Qihu City, Jiangnan Province.

Jiang Yuan didn’t want her first love to be a long-distance relationship, because feelings, once stirred, would eventually be defeated by distance.

“Stingy guy, your Moments are set to only show the last three days. There’s nothing there. I’ll hit you!”

Jiang Yuan sulked, glaring at the sleeping Lin Senmu.

The train stopped and started.

When Lin Senmu woke up, he saw a boxed meal on the dining table and looked surprised.

Jiang Yuan came out of the bathroom, her face slightly red, and explained, “You were sleeping like a log, and I couldn’t wake you up. It’s already past lunchtime, and I was afraid you’d be hungry when you woke up.”

“Hehe, you saved food for me? You’re so nice to me?”

Lin Senmu grinned at her. The relationship between them had already become somewhat familiar.

“Lin Senmu, you’re flirting so casually. Aren’t you afraid your girlfriend will get mad?”

Jiang Yuan rolled her eyes at him, taking the opportunity to ask this question. Her heart couldn’t help but feel a bit anxious. What if he said he already had one?

“I don’t have a girlfriend. Do you have a boyfriend?”

Lin Senmu’s eyes sparkled.

Jiang Yuan couldn’t withstand such an intense gaze and turned her head away, muttering, “I won’t tell you!”

“No.”

She quietly added another sentence.
