Yu Qingfeng sat nearby, waiting for Wang Jinhe to finish her tasks.
The individuals nearby understood that Wang Jinhe had more to attend to later, so they swiftly completed their tasks and left.
“Your subordinates are quite capable,” Yu Qingfeng referred to Lin Zixun.
He had watched over this young man as he grew within their household, observing his progress to this day.
Lin Zixun was diligent in his studies, never overlooking any detail that could benefit himself.
Wang Jinhe nodded with a smile, “Our family’s people are indeed exceptional.”
Seeing Wang Jinhe’s proud expression, Yu Qingfeng chuckled and shook his head, finding it amusing but also reassuring.
Wang Jinhe had always been kind to her subordinates, and it was because of this kindness that those under her were willing to assist her willingly.
“Xiao He, as of now, there’s nothing more I can teach you. Just remember your original intentions,” Yu Jingchuan remarked, causing Wang Jinhe to be a bit surprised but quickly understanding his meaning.
“Dad, rest assured, I understand,” Wang Jinhe nodded earnestly.
“Now that you have everything arranged here, come with me. I’ll take you to meet a few people,” Yu Qingfeng said.
“Okay.”
Wang Jinhe followed Yu Qingfeng as they left the Prince’s Residence, the royal mansion with Yu Jie trailing behind them.
Listening to their conversation left her feeling perplexed, unsure of what they were discussing.
Rubbing her forehead in confusion, it became apparent that such matters were not her forte. Perhaps she was better suited for medicine or combat.
Yu Qingfeng led Wang Jinhe to a modest-looking house.
Even before entering, voices could be heard from inside.
“Why haven’t they arrived yet?”
“Weren’t they supposed to come today? It’s getting late.”
“Did the young master really return? Could it be a deception?”
Turning to look at Yu Qingfeng beside her, Wang Jinhe noticed the faint smile on his face.
Just as Wang Jinhe was about to say something, Yu Qingfeng had already reached out, pushed open the door, and entered.
Seeing everyone inside, Yu Qingfeng smiled and asked, “What? Am I that untrustworthy to you?”
Upon hearing this familiar voice, everyone turned to see Yu Qingfeng standing before them well and alive, leaving them with mixed emotions.
“Young Master, you’re really alive and well.” Over the years, their greatest concern had been the well-being of their Young Master.
Despite receiving prior warnings to be prepared to confront the Yu family at any moment, even such messages left them questioning whether they were being deceived.
After all, no news had come back since then. Now that they saw him in person, everyone could finally breathe a sigh of relief.
“Young Master, since you’re still here, why are you reluctant to return?” one of them inquired.
“In the past, it was to protect the children at home. Now, it’s because the Yu family is no longer the same. We’ve heard rumors that the current Yu family might have committed treason. They have connections with foreign powers, and to make matters worse, they’ve allied with a faction in Forget Sorrow City,” Yu Qingfeng explained.
Furrowing their brows, the group was taken aback. The Yu family had actually committed treason?
“Young Master, are you considering severing ties with the Yu family?”
The group subconsciously furrowed their brows. They were well aware of Wang Jinhe’s status: a county princess and a royal consort.
The fruits and vegetables she cultivated had become popular throughout the Xuan Empire.
However, with the involvement of the Imperial Prince in these matters, could this royal consort truly bear this responsibility?
“I understand that you may still have doubts or be unwilling to trust Xiao He. In dealing with the Yu family this time, Xiao He will take action. I need you to cooperate with her. As for your decisions, you can inform me after the matter concludes. If you are unwilling at that point, I won’t force you to accept Xiao He,” Yu Qingfeng stated. He was not one to compel others.
He understood the thoughts of the group, which was precisely why he wanted to organize things more effectively.
He had no doubts about Xiao He’s abilities. He believed that after this cooperation, they would be capable of making their own choices.
Wang Jinhe never expected Yu Qingfeng’s purpose for calling her was this.
“Dad, aren’t they all loyal to you and Grandfather? Isn’t this arrangement a bit inappropriate?” Wang Jinhe furrowed her brow as she expressed her concerns.
Hearing Wang Jinhe’s words, Yu Qingfeng smiled, “Xiao He, you shouldn’t underestimate yourself. You and Xiao Yu are the most suitable for them. After going through so much, I only wish to raise your younger brother with your mother and retire in the Xie Family Village. Some things are better left to you young people to handle.”
The individuals nearby looked at Yu Qingfeng somewhat helplessly. If they remembered correctly, Yu Qingfeng appeared to be several years younger than them. They hadn’t even mentioned retirement themselves, yet he was already thinking about it.
“Have you considered us older folks when you said that? None of us have mentioned retirement, so why bring it up?”
Yu Qingfeng chuckled, “Please spare me. After enjoying leisure for so many years, I can’t handle these matters anymore.”
Did the group really believe Yu Qingfeng’s playful remark? They were certainly skeptical.
But if he insisted, what could they do?
“Although the young lady is your daughter, we need to make it clear: if we don’t approve, we won’t entrust anything to her.”
“Understood.”
Wang Jinhe stared at them blankly.
Understood what? Did they even bother asking for her opinion before making decisions?
How could they arrange things for her without even consulting her first? What kind of people were they?
“Dad, don’t you all think you should ask for my opinion?” Wang Jinhe couldn’t help but speak up.
Were these people being too unreasonable?
“I’m such a lazy person, and you want to hand over everything to me. Do you think that’s appropriate? Besides, I’ll be busy later. I still have high-yield crops to cultivate,” Wang Jinhe expressed her resistance.
