The Beginning of Natural Disaster, I Won by Hoarding Tens of Billions of Supplies
The Beginning of Natural Disaster, I Won by Hoarding Tens of Billions of Supplies | Chapter 4: The Typhoon Arrives

[edited]

After midnight, the timer updated to show that there were 130 minutes remaining.

This meant that time could accumulate in her space.

Jiang Ning was ecstatic. Every minute and second counted, and they could potentially be lifesaving in critical moments.

She decided to never enter the space unless it was absolutely necessary, it could save her from extreme cold or earthquakes.

With food on hand and a space for safety, she couldn’t help but feel more confident about the impending natural disasters.

She had a dreamless night. The next day, she was awakened by a phone call. The stainless steel door installer had arrived.

“Miss, does your house need a stainless steel door?”

“Recently, there have been thefts in the neighborhood, so I need to install a high quality door.”

The installer sighed. “Even if it’s secure, drilling holes in the roof and floors. Are you not afraid of damaging the house?”

“It’s okay; safety comes first.”

The landlord had gone abroad for work, so she had paid six month’s of rent in advance as requested. However, she hadn’t heard from the landlord even after the house collapsed in an earthquake, so remodelling wasn’t a problem.

The installers for the explosion proof glass arrived promptly. Both parties were busy with their respective tasks, and the sound of electric drills filled the air.

Afraid of disturbing the neighbors during the weekend, Jiang Ning chatted with the group and handed out some red envelopes.

She opened the app and continued ordering food online, until all the money was spent.

In less than two hours, the door and glass were installed. Jiang Ning settled the remaining payment she had set aside and felt relieved as she looked at her secure apartment.

The phone rang, and she thought it was the food delivery, but it turned out to be Yang Weicong.

“Anning, my birthday party is today. When will you be here?”

On the other end of the phone, Yang Weicong’s voice was gentle and sunny, accompanied by the lively laughter of many people.

Jiang Ning sneered, “Okay, you wait!”

Even though he clearly liked Su Mengyao, he deliberately kept her at bay, all for the sake of her surprise gift and his desire for a golden finger.

Even through the phone, Su Mengyao’s sweet and tender voice could be heard.

In her past life, she had pursued him relentlessly, but he had ignored her completely. Now, he was coming after her.

Jiang Ning’s alarm bells rang loudly. How did Su Mengyao know that her pendant had space?

Judging by Yang Weicong’s attitude, he probably didn’t know this secret, so the call must have been instigated by Su Mengyao.

Taking her keys, Jiang Ning headed downstairs.

Yang Weicong lives on the 8th floor, and there’s lively sounds coming from his room.

Jiang Ning goes straight downstairs without any hesitation.

The weather remains unbearably hot, but the outpost of the strong typhoon has arrived, and the howling sounds can be heard from time to time on the streets.

The latest text message alert indicates that the typhoon is expected to arrive tonight at nine o’clock.

Jiang Ning was taken aback. How come it began so early?

She goes to the school library and finds some medical books, which she can continue studying during natural disasters, as well as books on martial arts and mental health.

The vast library was submerged during the flood, and countless precious books disappeared.

Jiang Ning felt heartbroken just thinking about it, but there was nothing else she could do.

She avoid the cameras, grabs the books she wants, mixes them with others, and slips them into her space.

Yang Weicong calls again, but Jiang Ning immediately blocks him without saying a word.

Leaving the school, she goes to a large supermarket, takes the elevator to the top floor parking lot, surveys the area carefully, and then comes down.

Facing numerous products, she doesn’t buy anything but wanders back and forth on the second floor before driving elsewhere.

The car rental company called, saying they are closing early due to the typhoon, and she needs to return the car by three in the afternoon.

Jiang Ning agrees, but it was already four o’clock when the car was returned, and the typhoon kept roaring, blowing, and whistling everywhere.

The boss, being kind hearted, returns her 2000 yuan deposit after checking the car.

Natural disasters don’t happen suddenly; they give time for preparation, but unfortunately, humans fail to perceive them.

Jiang Ning keeps cash on hand for self defense and refrains from squandering it further.

Back at the apartment, she grabs her computer, tablet, and phone and continuously downloads materials such as movies, music, life hacks, recipes, offline maps, disaster first aid, and more.

Suddenly, a notification from the shopping app pops up, and Jiang Ning realizes that she forgot to pick up her extreme cold weather gear!

It was supposed to arrive yesterday evening, but the boss didn’t dispatch it on time, and coupled with delivery delays, the package only just arrived at the courier station.

She immediately calls, but the courier station replies that they can’t deliver it due to the typhoon, and she’ll have to wait until after it passes. If urgent, she can come and collect it before six o’clock.

The whistling outside is loud, with trees in the neighborhood swaying wildly.

When the typhoon rains come, the courier station will be flooded, and without the extreme cold weather gear, there’s no way that she can survive the temperatures of minus sixty or seventy degrees.

No one accepts orders on the taxi app. Jiang Ning grits her teeth and rushes downstairs, grabbing a shared bike and pedaling furiously towards the courier station.

Two kilometers away, she can hardly keep her eyes open against the wind, and debris and paper are flying everywhere.

Drenched in sweat, Jiang Ning arrives at the courier station; her hair is a mess.

Due to the delayed delivery caused by the typhoon, the place is piled high with packages.

Jiang Ning didn’t even have time to catch her breath; she rolled up her sleeves and frantically searched.

Fortunately, the package was large enough, and after flipping through it for over ten minutes, she finally found it.

The typhoon outside grew stronger, and the sky was so gloomy that if you didn’t know, you would think it was already nighttime.

Jiang Ning gritted her teeth and left with the big package in her arm.

Just as she stepped out, the eye of the typhoon suddenly struck, and Jiang Ning was swept away.

In a moment, a man standing next to a Hummer and loading some goods quickly reached out and grabbed her.

He had a stable stance and pulled the disheveled Jiang Ning back.

Jiang Ning quickly expressed her gratitude, but her voice was carried away by the typhoon.

The man glanced at her. “The typhoon has already arrived. It’s not safe for you to hold onto that package.”

Caught off guard by the sudden arrival of the strong typhoon, Jiang Ning had no choice but to retreat back into the store, constantly refreshing the taxi app and even offering red packets and tips.

However, there were still 300 people ahead of her in line, and not a single driver accepted the order.

The man had collected a lot of packages and he filled the entire Hummer. Seeing her anxious expression and desire to leave, he hesitated for a moment. “Where do you live?”

Under the streetlights, Jiang Ning finally got a clear look at his appearance: a black shirt paired with jeans, a young man in his twenties, with clean cut short hair, sharp jawline, and a tough and cold face.

He was tall, at least 185 centimeters, with unbelievably long legs.

Jiang Ning expressed her gratitude again, and the man’s expression remained indifferent. “It’s just a small favor.”

“I live in Jinrong Community. Can you give me a ride? I can pay for the fare.”

The man nodded and opened the car door.

The backseat was full, and when Jiang Ning opened the front door, she found a little girl sitting in the passenger seat.

She looked about four or five years old, with a timid, fair face, wearing a pink dress, and her black grape like eyes gazing at Jiang Ning.

“Doudou, let sister hold you.”

In the face of the apocalypse, who cares about traffic violations?

Jiang Ning held Doudou on her lap and placed the package by her feet.

The howling wind roared as the Hummer drove steadily.

In the heavy sky, tree branches were blown off, and tin sheds were lifted with a loud noise.

On the distant street, a girl in a dress clung tightly to a utility pole, her mouth shouting for help…

The natural disaster had officially begun…
