Watching Wang Jinhe’s departing figure, Lou Manqing awkwardly touched his nose, hoping she wouldn’t be upset.
After dealing with the Yu family, Wang Jinhe’s daily tasks increased, especially with the approaching New Year. Some matters on Su Yu’s side required her attention, making her even busier.
She could only spare half an hour each day to play with the children.
The children didn’t complain, but she would have blamed herself if they did.
“Madam, our progress is going smoothly, but Gu Xiruo has also intervened. I wonder how she found out about our plans against the Yu family. She has started targeting their assets and even acquired several shops,” Lin Zixun expressed his discontent towards Gu Xiruo.
Wasn’t this person trying to compete with them for resources?
It’s truly unforgivable, especially since this person is Madam’s enemy, which further fuels his dislike.
“It’s expected. With Gu Xiruo’s ambitions, she wouldn’t sit back when there’s a chance to benefit. However, this time, without Lu Lingfeng’s assistance, I’m curious how she learned about this,” Wang Jinhe remarked unexpectedly.
Previously, Gu Xiruo could swiftly seize the Xie family’s assets because of Lu Lingfeng.
Now that Gu Xiruo no longer has Lu Lingfeng by her side, Wang Jinhe found it intriguing how she still obtained such information. This made her wonder who else was backing Gu Xiruo.
“Qing Yukong is helping her acquire shops,” Lin Zixun grumbled.
Upon hearing this, Wang Jinhe was less surprised. With Qing Yukong’s assistance, it made sense how they had achieved this extent, leaving her somewhat astonished.
“I see. Zixun, inform Wan Feng to expedite our pace,” Wang Jinhe instructed.
“Understood.”
After Lin Zixun left, Wang Jinhe began contemplating how to provoke Gu Xiruo into action.
Rubbing her chin in thought, Wang Jinhe pondered whether Gu Xiruo had become more astute, as she hadn’t come looking for trouble. Not only was she avoiding conflict, but she was also deliberately staying out of her way. It seemed that the events at the Gu family had made Gu Xiruo more cautious, leaving Wang Jinhe somewhat disappointed.
On the other side, Gu Xiruo looked at Qing Yukong beside her and asked, “Husband, how much more can we gain from the Yu family?”
“It depends on when Princess Jinhe finds out that we have also taken action. Once she learns, she will undoubtedly accelerate, making it even more challenging for us to make a move,” Qing Yukong remarked thoughtfully.
Hearing this, Gu Xiruo frowned, feeling that Qing Yukong was no match for Lu Lingfeng.
During the previous incident involving seizing assets from the Xie family, even with Wang Jinhe’s knowledge, Lu Lingfeng had helped her acquire many of the Xie family’s shops. Gu Xiruo was surprised by Qing Yukong’s incompetence.
However, Gu Xiruo would not voice this sentiment in front of Qing Yukong, “It’s unavoidable. After all, Wang Jinhe has many people assisting her.”
In their recent confrontation with Wang Jinhe, Gu Xiruo noticed a change in her – she had transformed from how she used to be. This new version of Wang Jinhe made Gu Xiruo somewhat apprehensive.
“She is, after all, Princess Wang Jinhe. Su Yu’s network and everything else in his hands are all resources that Wang Jinhe can utilize. If someone with such resources still can’t achieve anything, then that would be incompetence, wouldn’t it?”
Gu Xiruo fell silent, realizing Qing Yukong’s admiration for Wang Jinhe.
This left Gu Xiruo feeling displeased, as if her favorite toy had been taken away.
“Do you admire Wang Jinhe a lot?” Gu Xiruo asked seemingly casually.
Qing Yukong nodded, “I do indeed admire her. She has achieved quite a lot to reach this point.”
Previously, they only thought Wang Jinhe was skilled in farming, but now it seems she is equally adept in business.
Gu Xiruo’s expression darkened instantly as she glared at Qing Yukong disapprovingly, “So, who do you think is more skilled, me or her?”
Qing Yukong shook his head with a smile, “You don’t need to compare yourself to the Princess; it’s pointless.”
However, Gu Xiruo was persistent and didn’t heed Qing Yukong’s words, “What do you mean by not needing to compare? Do you think I’m not as good as Wang Jinhe?”
Frowning, Qing Yukong looked at Gu Xiruo, unsure why she had suddenly become like this, and somewhat annoyed, he said, “Xiruo, you know I didn’t mean it that way.”
However, Gu Xiruo didn’t listen and directly asked, “Then tell me, what do you mean by those words?”
“I was just expressing my thoughts, you’re overthinking it,” Qing Yukong said, displeased.
In Qing Yukong’s eyes, Wang Jinhe was truly impressive. One could say she was the most remarkable woman he knew.
As for Xiruo, her strength lay in the fact that she had people around her assisting her. Many tasks were delegated to those around her, and she hadn’t been very hands-on herself.
Before falling out with Lu Lingfeng, all the industries in her hands were managed by him. However, she received all the credit for it.
Hasn’t Xiruo realized these things yet?
“What do you mean by overthinking? Qing Yukong, I am your wife. Praising someone who has enmity with me, what does that imply? Could it be that you have also been ensnared by that woman?” Gu Xiruo said angrily.
Upon hearing Gu Xiruo’s words, Qing Yukong inexplicably felt irritated and didn’t want to continue listening.
“I have some family matters to attend to. I’ll be in the study. As for today’s events, calm down and think it over. I’m leaving,” he said, getting up to depart.
Seeing that he not only didn’t apologize but also intended to leave like that, Gu Xiruo became even angrier.
Reaching out to stop him, Gu Xiruo said, “You’re not leaving. We won’t be done until you explain this today.”
Qing Yukong did have feelings for Gu Xiruo, but her persistent and aggressive behavior made him extremely uncomfortable.
Looking into Gu Xiruo’s eyes, Qing Yukong said, “Xiruo, you know very well why you have achieved what you have today. As for Princess Jinhe’s expertise in farming, it’s a fact that nobody can deny.”
“I won’t allow you to praise that woman. Qing Yukong, if you continue speaking like this, I will never speak to you again,” Gu Xiruo said angrily, glaring at him with resentment.
She absolutely refused to let people around her praise other women. Where did Wang Jinhe come from to deserve such praise?
Upon hearing her words, Qing Yukong felt disappointed. “Xiruo, right now, I don’t see the problem in me; the problem lies within you.”
As time passed and they spent more time together, Qing Yukong discovered a fatal flaw in Gu Xiruo.
Her inability to tolerate hearing someone praise another woman over her was a significant weakness. Such comments would trigger the same hysterical and repulsive reaction as now.
But then again, she was his wife.
