Chapter 13: Shameless and Unabashed
Fu Yuzhou, a man of the old era, had his worldview completely shattered by Chu Ning’s audacious words.
He had previously considered Chen Guihua an anomaly, the most unrestrained woman he’d ever met, always shamelessly declaring her affection for him. But compared to Chu Ning, Chen Guihua was a mere child’s play. Insignificant!
Yet, despite this, Chu Ning was like opium to him. Perhaps it was due to their fleeting physical encounter. Seeing Chu Ning’s lips near his, he inexplicably recalled the sweetness of her kiss. An unseen force seemed to tempt and beguile him, slowly eroding his resolve. He closed his eyes, awaiting her kiss. Even though his feelings for Chu Ning weren’t as she claimed, and he didn’t want anyone to discover their interaction, he let the misunderstanding continue.
However, instead of a kiss, he received a kick—the same move as last time. Chu Ning hadn’t returned earlier because she’d remembered kicking him before. She’d deliberately said those seductive words to provoke him and give him another kick. After the kick, she ran again, only to fail once more.
“Hiss…” Fu Yuzhou gasped, his temples throbbing with anger. The woman was so cunning, her defiance only fueled his irritation. This time, he chased after her, determined to find out where she was running. He was stunned to find her still at the doorway – she hadn’t escaped?
Chu Ning just wanted to go back. Defeated, she felt frustrated, replaying the events of that day and today, comparing them to find the flaw. Why couldn’t she return? She longed to go back, even though that world had left her scarred. Her relatives and friends were there; Tang Siqi would be worried sick if she didn’t return.
“Get in here, you woman! You’re asking for it!”
Fu Yuzhou grabbed Chu Ning and pulled her into the room, slamming the door shut and pinning her against it. He realized his leniency had emboldened her. Before, he’d worried about others discovering her, about her reputation. But since she was shameless and unafraid, what did he have to fear?
Chu Ning watched him warily. His grim expression and piercing gaze felt like sharp knives.
“What do you want?” she asked, her voice trembling.
“Shouldn’t you be asking me that?”
Fu Yuzhou was curious. Why did Chu Ning repeatedly tease and provoke him?
“I told you, I’m from the future. I only want to go back.”
He didn’t believe her, dismissing her words as nonsense.
“I haven’t got all day, Chu Ning. Think carefully before you answer.”
“I’m not lying.”
“You…”
“Commander, are you alright?”
Xiao Zhu’s voice came from outside. He’d been woken earlier by the commotion and had come to check again after hearing more noise.
Fu Yuzhou’s nerves were frayed by Chu Ning’s audacity. His patience had snapped. He no longer cared if others discovered her; perhaps creating a bigger scene would reveal her identity.
“No, I’m… uh…”
Suddenly, Chu Ning kissed him. She’d seen the anger in his eyes and knew he wanted revenge, and she was afraid. Although not born in this era, she’d studied its history and knew how conservative it was. If discovered, even without a relationship with Fu Yuzhou, it would appear they had one. She knew Chen, who liked Fu Yuzhou, had visited him earlier. As an outsider, she didn’t want to make enemies with the women of this time, so she used this to silence him.
It worked. Or rather, Chu Ning’s boldness shocked him. He stared at her in stunned disbelief.
“Commander,” Xiao Zhu called again, his hand already on the door handle, ready to enter.
Fu Yuzhou held Chu Ning tighter against the door. She knew that as long as Fu Yuzhou didn’t move, the person outside couldn’t get in, but her heart still trembled.
“I’m fine, go away.”
Fu Yuzhou spoke, his dark gaze never leaving her face.
“Commander, open the door. Let me see you.” Xiao Zhu was worried, having heard the commotion all night.
“Get lost! Stop bothering me!”
Fu Yuzhou swore, his rough, irritated voice revealing his frustration. Knowing Fu Yuzhou’s temper, Xiao Zhu left, though he kept glancing back, sensing the presence of two people. He suspected someone was hiding in Fu Yuzhou’s room.
Back in the room, Chu Ning breathed a sigh of relief. Exhausted from the ordeal, and knowing she couldn’t return, she decided to give up for now. She tried to push Fu Yuzhou away to get some water, but he pulled her back, gripping her waist.
“Playing hard to get again?”
His low voice was laced with displeasure. She’d kissed him to silence him, arousing him, and now she wanted to leave? He was not happy.
Chu Ning didn’t understand. “What do you mean?”
“Playing dumb?”
Fu Yuzhou snorted. “I’m a normal man, Chu Ning. You repeatedly tease me and then try to back out?”
“I didn’t tease you.”
She defended herself. While the Adam’s apple kiss was accidental, her kiss was definitely teasing.
“You’re not being honest.”
He cupped her chin and kissed her. He’d never wanted to kiss a woman so much before, even if it was partly punishment. He couldn’t deny her beauty. Her taste was delicate and sweet, not cloying, making him crave more. His kiss was forceful, rough, and domineering, overwhelming her.
