Chapter 35: Reluctant to Let Me Go, Is It Because You Like Me?
Suddenly, a “gurgling” sound—Chu Ning’s stomach rumbled in hunger.
Chu Ning looked at Fu Yuzhou somewhat embarrassedly, and Fu Yuzhou’s deep, unfathomable eyes happened to be fixed on her.
Chu Ning felt extremely awkward!
Fortunately, Fu Yuzhou didn’t laugh at Chu Ning, but said in a calm voice, “I’ve packed your meal. Go wash your hands and eat.”
“Okay.”
Chu Ning washed her hands and came over, opening the lunchbox. She discovered that the lunchbox was full of food; the portion seemed a bit too much, more than she could possibly finish.
“I can’t finish it all. Do you have an extra bowl?”
Chu Ning just wanted to find a bowl to divide the food.
“Look for one in the cupboard yourself.”
Fu Yuzhou, having already organized his medical kit, left that sentence and went to wash his hands.
“Is there a bowl in the cupboard?”
Chu Ning clearly remembered that the last time she looked for food in Fu Yuzhou’s cupboard, she didn’t see any bowls.
However, Fu Yuzhou completely ignored her words, as if he hadn’t heard them at all.
“Inconsistent mood, what’s with the attitude?”
Chu Ning muttered in dissatisfaction, then opened the cupboard.
Unexpectedly, after opening the cupboard, she found that there was indeed an extra white porcelain bowl with red flowers printed on it. Besides that, there were also several packs of instant noodles, compressed biscuits, and several large red apples.
Immediately, a smile spread across Chu Ning’s eyes. She asked narcissistically, “Fu Yuzhou, the bowl and food in your cupboard, weren’t they specially prepared for me? Aren’t you afraid that Chu Zhiqing will be angry if she finds out?”
Fu Yuzhou just came out after washing his hands. It was clearly him who prepared it for Chu Ning.
Last time, Chu Ning stayed in his dormitory for more than a day, ate all his compressed biscuits, and still felt hungry.
This time, Chu Ning suddenly returned. Although he secretly disliked her, when distributing food, he usually only symbolically took one or two compressed biscuits, giving the rest to others.
This time, he actually took back all his belongings, and even snatched the apples from the other soldiers’ hands.
The purpose was to keep them in the cupboard in case Chu Ning came and got hungry.
Facing Chu Ning’s words, he nonchalantly said, “Don’t be narcissistic. The bowl and food are for my cousin, Fu Chen. He’ll be coming soon.”
“Fu Chen is really coming?”
Chu Ning was so startled that her wrist trembled, almost dropping the bowl.
Fu Yuzhou caught the bowl in time. “You woman, can’t you be more careful? If you break the bowl, how will you eat?”
Chu Ning’s nervousness wasn’t about eating; she was worried that if Fu Chen really came, her identity would be exposed.
She looked at Fu Yuzhou, dumbfounded. “When is your cousin coming?”
Fu Yuzhou hadn’t received a letter from his second uncle, meaning Fu Chen wouldn’t be coming. He deliberately said this to Chu Ning just to scare her.
Seeing Chu Ning trembling in fear, he said with a playful tone, “You’re scared now, but when you pretended to be Fu Chen, you weren’t afraid.”
Chu Ning looked innocent. “I didn’t intend to impersonate Fu Chen. Blame the kind-hearted women’s director; she said I was Fu Chen.
I didn’t know how to introduce myself, so I just assumed the identity of Fu Chen?”
Fu Yuzhou said indifferently, “That’s why I said you’re self-righteous and presumptuous.”
Chu Ning never thought of herself as that kind of person, but thinking about it carefully, she did seem a bit that way this time.
While she was stunned, Fu Yuzhou had already divided the food.
Fu Yuzhou gave almost all the dishes in the lunchbox to Chu Ning; he only ate plain rice, and a small portion at that.
Chu Ning sat down next to Fu Yuzhou, seeing the full bowl of food in front of her, then looking at Fu Yuzhou’s.
“You gave me so much, I can’t finish it.”
Fu Yuzhou had already picked up his chopsticks and started eating. “Finish it even if you can’t. Don’t even think about sneaking a bite of what I left for Fu Chen.”
Fu Yuzhou’s words were ostensibly for Fu Chen’s sake, but in fact, he was afraid that Chu Ning would go hungry.
Chu Ning looked at Fu Yuzhou’s meticulous manner. “I was too hungry last time, that’s why I ate your biscuits. If I had food, I wouldn’t bother with your hard biscuits.
It’s like some kind of treasure. Let me tell you, in our time, the biscuits you eat are already outdated.
There’s a lot of delicious food in the army; it’s not as monotonous as yours. Next time I come, I’ll definitely bring a big bag of delicious food to tempt you.”
Fu Yuzhou suddenly looked up at Chu Ning’s face. “You like coming here so much, I think you shouldn’t go back.”
“I don’t like it here.”
“Then stop talking nonsense, finish your meal quickly, and get lost.”
Fu Yuzhou also knew that Chu Ning wouldn’t like it here. In that era, she had someone she liked; how could she stay here?
Chu Ning was equally blunt. “Fine, Fu Yuzhou, since you dislike me so much, I’ll go back immediately, on the condition that you must have a fight with me!”
As long as she had a big fight with Fu Yuzhou, she could immediately go back.
Fu Yuzhou was stunned by Chu Ning’s bizarre words. “What are you trying to do again?”
Fu Yuzhou was a little impatient. He only said he disliked Chu Ning, but only he himself knew that he felt a little disappointed after Chu Ning left.
Last time, Chu Ning, in order to go back, took the initiative to provoke Fu Yuzhou, leading to a misunderstanding.
This time, she learned her lesson and didn’t want to deceive Fu Yuzhou. Looking at Fu Yuzhou, she said, “You forgot, I had a big fight with you last time, and then I suddenly went back.
So, I believe that as long as you have a big fight with me now, I can go back immediately.”
Fu Yuzhou hadn’t forgotten that last time, Chu Ning, in order to go back, used every means to provoke him, trampling on his self-esteem.
Even now, he couldn’t get over that hurdle.
Now, Chu Ning made this request again. In Fu Yuzhou’s opinion, it was simply absurd.
He said impatiently, “Go back if you want; I’m not in the mood to quarrel with you.”
Chu Ning pressed on, “Why?”
“It’s a waste of my breath.”
In fact, Fu Yuzhou was also conflicted. Hearing that Chu Ning wanted to go back, he was a little afraid.
Afraid that she would suddenly leave.
He admitted that he had selfish feelings for Chu Ning, a possessive kind of selfishness.
Afraid that the next second, the unpredictable Chu Ning would really quarrel with him, Fu Yuzhou picked up his lunchbox and left.
“Fu Yuzhou, what do you mean? Don’t you dislike me and want me to go back? Why aren’t you arguing with me? Really, as long as you quarrel with me, I can go back.”
Chu Ning chased after him, shouting at Fu Yuzhou’s back.
Suddenly, Chu Ning burst into laughter. “Damn Fu Yuzhou, what do you mean? You’re not helping me, you want to keep me? You wouldn’t be liking me and not wanting me to go back, would you?”
Hearing this, Fu Yuzhou’s body froze, his feet stopped, and he suddenly turned to look at Chu Ning.
