Chapter 52: The Grumpy Kid
After finally signing the contract, Yue Han was kicked out of the studio by both his agent and his new uncle. He raised his hand to press his brow and let out a sigh.
The face that always wore a silly grin fell flat. He raised his hand to rub his face, unable to hide the emotion in his eyes.
He scratched the back of his head. “Why is there always something going on no matter where I go?”
Mo-ge… There was already a pile of problems over there, and rumors were flying online. Even though he knew Little Mianmian wasn’t Mo-ge’s biological daughter, people online ran their mouths, talking nonsense. If they said you cheated, then you cheated. Add in a major company pulling strings from behind the scenes, claiming they were looking for evidence—how could it be that simple?
Then there was the Bai family mess. Thinking again about the little troublemaker currently at his house, Yue Han couldn’t stop sighing.
The most crucial part was that the little troublemaker needed special treatment. He was the treasured darling of the entire Bai family—so obsessively cherished that it bordered on madness. Sure, the kid was frail and often sick, but was that really a reason to dote on him like he was their very eyeball?
The Bai family’s wealth was terrifying, but their inner workings made no sense to him at all.
For example, when the Bai family’s scandal broke, their first instinct wasn’t to handle the crashing stocks, nor to ensure the safety of their family members. It was to get the little ancestor out first and find someone to properly care for him.
Thinking of that one back home, Yue Han couldn’t help sighing again. His mind drifted unconsciously to the obedient little dumpling sitting on Yu Mozhi’s lap in the sunlight, learning pinyin with him. Then he thought of the little rascal in his own home—several months younger than the dumpling, yet much more troublesome.
Seriously, they were both being raised as kids—how could there be such a vast difference between one child and another?
“Take it away. I don’t want to eat.”
A hoarse, weak child’s voice sounded in the dark room where the curtains had been drawn. The servant standing at the doorway looked a little helpless.
As soon as Yue Han stepped in from outside, he heard the feeble protest.
To be honest, the place he used to live in was just a regular apartment, suitable for living alone. But when this little ancestor arrived, the Bai family immediately set up a duplex villa for him.
He had truly never seen anyone pamper a child like this.
“Oh, my little ancestor!” Yue Han thought as he rushed over, glancing at the servant and two nannies. “What’s going on today? He doesn’t want to eat?”
It wasn’t that he was being two-faced; it was just that this little rascal was too exquisitely adorable. After all, little boys were still little cuties—totally lovable. In other words, it was his fault for being so cute. If he couldn’t get cuddles from the little dumpling in Mo-ge’s arms, then getting some affection from the grumpy rascal was fine too.
“The fever hasn’t gone down. He vomited once this morning. The young master must be feeling really uncomfortable and doesn’t want to eat. He also won’t let us go in. Young Master Yue, this porridge…”
“Bai Xichen, you need to eat properly to get better.”
Yue Han looked at the bowl of porridge, then at the small lump on the bed inside the room. He raised his hand and knocked on the open door.
This kid had an extremely strong sense of territory. When he sat quietly watching you, he made you instinctively want to listen to him. That’s why almost everyone had this reflex before entering his room.
What responded to Yue Han was a small pillow being thrown at him.
Yue Han sighed. As he’d said—this kid, once he got sick, turned into a grumpy rascal.
