Upon hearing that the investigation had been completed, Wang Jinhe immediately became interested. Curiously approaching Lou Manqing, she inquired, “Who is responsible for this?”
“You can take a guess first, Sister-in-law. Let’s see if you can figure it out,” Lou Manqing said with interest.
Wang Jinhe looked at Lou Manqing with a mix of amusement and exasperation, shaking her head in resignation. “Stop playing around and tell me what happened.”
“In reality, this matter is quite simple. Lord Zhong’s son listened to someone else and then spoke to Lord Zhong. After that, you should already know the rest,” Lou Manqing explained the situation concisely in just a couple of sentences.
Narrowing her eyes, Wang Jinhe asked, “Gu Xiruo?”
Lou Manqing looked surprised at Wang Jinhe. He hadn’t given any hints, yet Wang Jinhe had managed to guess correctly on her own.
Lou Manqing nodded with a smile, “Sister-in-law, you guessed right. It indeed involves this person. What do you plan to do now?”
Would they directly confront Gu Xiruo?
Observing Lou Manqing’s expectant expression, Wang Jinhe’s mouth twitched slightly, shaking her head helplessly. “It’s not the time to act against Gu Xiruo just yet.”
“Why not?” Gu Xiruo has been treating Sister-in-law like this, plotting against her from various angles, yet you still don’t want to deal with Gu Xiruo?
Sister-in-law is truly patient.
With a soft sigh, Wang Jinhe shook her head and said, “There are still some matters to handle with the Gu family. It won’t be easy without Gu Xiruo in this situation.”
After considering for a moment, Lou Manqing mentioned Gu Yanqi, “Sister-in-law, are you referring to the matter involving Gu Yanqi?”
“Yes, when I decide to act, it will be when Gu Xiruo has no way to turn things around. In the current circumstances, I can’t eliminate her, and having someone lingering around would only be a nuisance. I won’t do such a thing,” Wang Jinhe explained, shaking her head.
Currently, Qing Yukong still greatly favors Gu Xiruo. If she were to make a move, Qing Yukong would undoubtedly lend a hand. Even if Gu Xiruo loses the protection of the Gu family, she still has the Qing family as a backing. She could rise again in the future, and that’s not what Wang Jinhe wants.
Her intention to act is to ensure Gu Xiruo never has a chance to turn the tables.
Observing Wang Jinhe’s expressionless demeanor, Lou Manqing suddenly felt that everyone had underestimated her.
“Sister-in-law, are you planning to strike after Gu Xiruo is isolated and abandoned by everyone?” Lou Manqing inquired.
Although this was a question, it carried more conviction than doubt.
Wang Jinhe nodded with a smile, “You’re right. That’s exactly what I’m thinking. However, I haven’t done anything yet, and Gu Xiruo keeps acting recklessly.”
“Help me investigate one more thing,” Wang Jinhe said to Lou Manqing.
“What is it? Sister-in-law, just tell me without hesitation,” he replied, curious about Wang Jinhe’s next steps. It seemed staying away from home was the correct decision.
“Find out why Qing Yukong treats Gu Xiruo so differently, even willing to treat her well despite knowing she has other men around her. Once I understand Qing Yukong’s special treatment of Gu Xiruo, dealing with Qing Yukong will be much simpler,” Wang Jinhe explained. Only by understanding why Qing Yukong favored Gu Xiruo could their relationship be undermined.
Lou Manqing nodded in agreement, “Sister-in-law, you’re right. That’s indeed a strategy. I’ll have someone look into it.”
“Now, are you just going to let Gu Xiruo off the hook like that? She’s quite discerning; she knows that the things in your hands are valuable,” Lou Manqing remarked.
Wang Jinhe chuckled and shook her head. Gu Xiruo has likely coveted the items in her possession for a long time.
After all, to Gu Xiruo, the Four Seasons was like a true treasure trove. With access to it, Gu Xiruo could make as much money as she wished.
However, it was a pity that someone like Gu Xiruo wouldn’t get her hands on Wang Jinhe’s possessions.
“Do you think Gu Xiruo targeting the Four Seasons is her own decision or influenced by Qing Yukong?” Lou Manqing asked with interest.
“Qing Yukong doesn’t have such grand ambitions. It’s probably Gu Xiruo’s decision to do this, and it doesn’t have much to do with Qing Yukong,” Wang Jinhe explained.
Lou Manqing nodded in agreement. Despite Qing Yukong’s questionable actions for Gu Xiruo, he was still somewhat acceptable.
“I don’t have any misconceptions about Qing Yukong. When I arrived in the capital, I had Su Yu investigate him. As long as it doesn’t involve Gu Xiruo, he’s not a bad person. However, his intelligence takes a nosedive once Gu Xiruo is in the picture,” Wang Jinhe expressed disappointment, shaking her head.
“Are you sympathizing with him?” Lou Manqing asked, surprised by Wang Jinhe’s remarks.
“A decent person turned foolish because of a woman, willing to risk half his life and eventually be labeled negatively. Shouldn’t we show some sympathy for such a person?” Wang Jinhe asked with a smile, looking at Lou Manqing.
Lou Manqing’s mouth twitched as he looked at Wang Jinhe. Sister-in-law’s words were a bit harsh.
“Lou Manqing, you’re right,” Wang Jinhe said with a smile.
Upon reflection, it does seem true.
“Before, I was particularly curious about Lu Lingfeng. Despite knowing that Gu Xiruo had a fiancé, he treated her so well, even without any formal commitment,” Wang Jinhe found Lu Lingfeng’s behavior intriguing.
Lou Manqing stared blankly at Wang Jinhe. Could there really be someone like that? What’s going on in his head?
“Are you serious about this, Sister-in-law? Did such a thing really happen?” Lou Manqing questioned, surprised by the existence of such a man.
He couldn’t even bear to imagine such a scenario happening to himself.
If it were happening to him, he might have just killed that man. How could someone unconditionally stay by the side of a woman they like, watch her get married, and then offer their blessings?
Just thinking about it, there must be something seriously wrong with his head to act in such a selfless manner, and if there weren’t, he probably wouldn’t have done such a thing.
Wang Jinhe chuckled as she saw Lou Manqing’s disdainful expression, “When I first learned about this person, my thoughts were exactly like yours. I have never seen anyone like him before.”
“Isn’t Lu Lingfeng no longer with Gu Xiruo now? What happened between them to make Lu Lingfeng change his ways?” Lou Manqing inquired.
“He found out that Gu Xiruo deceived him, but because of Qing Yukong’s effort, he didn’t continue to seek revenge on her. Otherwise, based on Lu Lingfeng’s understanding of Gu Xiruo, she would have lost what she held long ago. Would she still be waiting until now?”
“Even if she lost everything, it would be Gu Xiruo’s own doing.”
“That’s quite normal.”
“Do you really have no intentions regarding the Gu family, Sister-in-law? Although it’s not great, if it were in your hands, you could definitely take it to the next level,” Lou Manqing asked Wang Jinhe.
Wang Jinhe smiled and shook her head. She already had plenty in her hands and didn’t want more, especially considering Gu Yanqi’s presence in the Gu family. With him around, she didn’t need to invite trouble by getting involved.
Seeing Wang Jinhe’s stance, Lou Manqing was somewhat puzzled, “Why?”
Isn’t it better to have more of such things? Why does Sister-in-law seem uninterested despite having the opportunity?
