In the past, Gu Xiruo had some intelligence, but now she seems to have lost even that.
“This is quite normal. She was greatly praised by Madam Qing in the Qing family, and with the recent acquisitions, such as the shop in Gu Sheng’s hands and the shops from the Yu family that Qing Yukong helped her seize, it’s no surprise she began to have ambitions. I’m not surprised it has come to this,” Wang Jinhe remarked thoughtfully.
Once someone possesses too much that doesn’t rightfully belong to them, they change entirely.
Gu Xiruo’s knowledge of her true status led her to resort to any means necessary when obtaining these possessions, a natural course of action for them.
“After this, Gu Xiruo likely won’t have much chance for redemption,” Wan Feng added.
Wang Jinhe nodded, “Gu Xiruo may have ambitions, but her character is not strong enough to sustain those ambitions. Ultimately, she will lose herself in power and desire.”
Once she loses these possessions, Gu Xiruo probably won’t have much left.
“She wanted to gain control of the Gu family through Qing Yukong, but it seems like that opportunity is gone now,” Wan Feng remarked somewhat gleefully.
Wang Jinhe nodded and commented, “That’s quite normal. I just wonder if Qing Yukong can hold on longer this time, making himself appear more valuable.”
Somewhat puzzled, Wan Feng asked, “Madam, what do you mean by ‘more valuable’?”
“It means being taken for granted. Wasn’t that how Qing Yukong was before? I find it hard to believe that he doesn’t know Gu Xiruo doesn’t actually like him.” Knowing that Gu Xiruo doesn’t reciprocate his feelings yet still pursuing her relentlessly – that’s not being valued, it’s more like giving without receiving anything in return.
Initially hesitant about his thoughts, Wan Feng began to realize that perhaps it was indeed the case.
“If a family’s young master lowers himself so much, and now Gu Xiruo has done such things, if Qing Yukong continues to unconditionally pamper and protect her as before, then I would have to say he’s not fit to hold the position of Qing family’s young master,” Wang Jinhe casually adjusted her clothes and spoke calmly.
If Gu Xiruo can directly abandon her father, Gu Sheng, who has always doted on her, and even utter such harsh words, what will become of Qing Yukong, who is merely someone she doesn’t love, once he loses his utility?
“Should we remind Qing Yukong?” Wan Feng pondered and asked.
If a simple reminder could bring joy to Madam while watching the show unfold.
Shaking her head with a smile, Wang Jinhe replied, “No need.”
She simply wanted to observe how Qing Yukong would react next. If he continues as he is now, even if Gu Xiruo ends up causing harm to Qing Yukong later on, she wouldn’t find it inappropriate.
After hearing Wang Jinhe’s response, Wan Feng paused, initially expecting Wang Jinhe to remind Qing Yukong. It seemed he had misjudged the situation.
…..
“The young master instructed…,” the maid hesitated, unsure whether to continue.
“What did he say?” Gu Xiruo’s voice sounded tense, filled with gritted teeth. She was eager to know what Gu Yanqi had said.
“The young master said that from now on, your treatment in the Gu family will be ordinary, without the special treatment you received before,” the maid explained, avoiding eye contact with Gu Xiruo.
Gu Xiruo’s expression darkened significantly upon hearing this. She stood up abruptly from her chair and walked out, her face looking extremely grim.
“What are you planning, Miss? Please don’t act recklessly,” the maid cautioned as she observed Gu Xiruo’s agitation.
Glancing at the maid beside her, Gu Xiruo spoke icily, “What am I planning? Shouldn’t I be asking Gu Yanqi what he intends to do?”
As the eldest daughter of the Gu family, her mother had made it clear that she should not suffer any grievances. Yet, Gu Yanqi’s recent actions were crossing the line.
The maid sighed softly and tried to reason with Gu Xiruo, “Miss, times have changed. The young master almost despises you now, the Madam has passed away, and even the only one in the Gu family who treated you well, your father—”
Aware that she had no authority to speak about Gu Xiruo’s actions, the maid felt that intervening now would only make her a laughingstock. After all, it was Gu Xiruo who had brought this upon herself by causing trouble with her father.
Upon hearing the maid’s words, Gu Xiruo’s expression soured, “Are you trying to teach me how to handle things?”
The maid quickly lowered her head and replied, “I dare not, Miss.”
Gu Xiruo snorted and went to find Gu Yanqi.
Upon seeing Gu Xiruo approaching him, Gu Yanqi was not surprised at all and asked indifferently, “What brings you here to see me?”
Gu Xiruo, upon hearing Gu Yanqi’s casual tone, grew even more displeased, her expression turning uglier by the moment, “Gu Yanqi, are you doing this on purpose?”
Observing Gu Xiruo’s demeanor, Gu Yanqi furrowed his brows slightly, displaying impatience on his face, “If you have something to say, say it directly. I have a lot on my plate and don’t have time to waste with you here.”
Glaring coldly at Gu Yanqi, Gu Xiruo retorted, “Gu Yanqi, do you think your actions can make me upset? Let me tell you, what you’re doing is utterly useless to me.”
Mockingly, Gu Yanqi responded to Gu Xiruo’s words, “If what I’m doing is useless, then why are you here talking to me?”
“You…”
Gu Xiruo was taken aback by how much Gu Yanqi seemed to detest her.
“Gu Xiruo, in this house, you are welcome to come in the future, but if you intend to continue your previous arrogance, you can leave. You have no say here,” Gu Yanqi showed no mercy, his words even bordering on harshness.
Gu Xiruo bit her lip, looking at Gu Yanqi. Did he want to embarrass her in front of so many people?
Among all the young ladies in the Gu family, she had always been the best. Now, with Gu Yanqi saying such things, wasn’t he pushing her down in front of everyone?
“My father won’t allow you to do this,” Gu Xiruo responded.
Upon hearing Gu Xiruo’s words, Gu Yanqi couldn’t help but chuckle, “Gu Xiruo, do you really think he still wants to protect you?”
Gu Yanqi was already aware of the previous events, and he couldn’t believe that Gu Xiruo was willing to push things this far.
Grimacing, Gu Xiruo stared at Gu Yanqi and spoke with a dark expression, “That’s my own business.”
“You can leave,” Gu Yanqi pointed towards the door, showing no interest in engaging with Gu Xiruo any further.
