Release the Female Lead, Leave Her to Me
Release the Female Lead Ch. 56

Chapter 56: Bring the Male Protagonist a Green Hat1

Her clothes were as white as snow, outlining her perfect figure. She bore no extra embellishments on her person, yet did not appear monotonous. Instead, there was a sense of otherworldly beauty.

Ye Wenxin kept her gaze forward, and upon seeing that gorgeous face, Ye Wenxin’s pupils abruptly contracted, her entire body trembling violently. She laughed, before pouncing on the Fairy Fengya before her as if she had gone crazy.

Even though Ye Wenxin was so fierce, Fairy Fengya remained unmoved, her eyes devoid of joy, anger, sorrow, or happiness, unaffected by anyone’s emotions.

But the next moment, Ye Wenxin boldly grabbed Fairy Fengya and kissed her lips fiercely.

Direct and domineering, yet Fairy Fengya showed no resistance whatsoever, those eyes still indifferent, as if those kissed lips were not hers, just letting the current Ye Wenxin toy with her.

After doing all this, Ye Wenxin lost her strength, fell to the floor, but she was still grinning in a daze.

“Hahahaha…I truly didn’t expect…it would turn out to be you…” Even in her dreams it never occurred to her, that Fairy Fengya was the beautiful mute. And the beautiful mute, she could speak.

“Ye Wenxin, yes? You will become my only true disciple.” Fairy Fengya remained indifferent, as if being toyed with by Ye Wenxin just now was nothing more than a dream.

She slowly crouched down, examining Ye Wenxin.

“Master, you’re in for trouble. This Ye Wenxin constantly thinks of using you as a human furnace, if you truly accept her as your disciple, who knows how you’ll end up being drained in the future.” Zhu Ling reminded in Fairy Fengya’s mind, having the persistent feeling that this Ye Wenxin was really too dangerous. Every time they met she took advantage of Fairy Fengya, and even after climbing this step and learning Fairy Fengya’s identity, she still took advantage of Fairy Fengya.

“Zhu Ling, do you think this person might be my emotional entanglement?” Fairy Fengya also felt somewhat helpless. Although she had avoided Ye Wenxin and did not even plan on going back to that cavern, things were developing differently from what she had imagined.

They met once again, and Ye Wenxin was the top candidate for this time’s recruitment assembly, while Fairy Fengya, before she had seen Ye Wenxin, had promised the top candidate to be Fairy Fengya’s true disciple.

But who could have known, that after hiding for a few days, she would lose a lifetime at the Heavenly Stairs.

“Emotional entanglement, perhaps she actually could be, after all, this Ye Wenxin is very eccentric.” Zhu Ling recalled the ancient secret manual Fairy Fengya was cultivating—[Nine Tribulations Exorcising Curse2]. Because Fairy Fengya had not experienced emotional connections, she was thus unable to comprehend the final Tribulation of the Nine Tribulations Exorcising Curse. Her forcing a breakthrough then led to Qi Deviation.

And each time, Ye Wenxin always coincidentally showed up, so coincidentally as if by some twist of fate…

“Am I seeing things? Did Miss Wenxin just embrace Fairy Fengya and kissed her?” The candidates and Azure Wings Sect disciples below were unaware of what happened atop the Heavenly Stairs. However, from the perspective of the elders and school masters, they vaguely discerned what had occurred before their eyes.

That Fairy Fengya, who was as clear as ice and clean as jade3, was actually nibbled by a thirteen-year-old girl?

“It must be a problem with the angle!”

“Right, if being frivolous with Fairy Fengya doesn’t get one killed, I’d rather not have a third leg and forever remain a child!” another elder voiced to ease the atmosphere, and everyone laughed boisterously except for Ling Jue, who had a terrible expression on her face.

Naturally, she had seen Ye Wenxin’s actions as well as that expression clearly, and judging from that expression, the two must have had previous contact unknown to Ling Jue. Thinking of Ye Wenxin’s concealment, Ling Jue felt particularly pained in her heart.

The Azure Wings Sect was thrown into chaos for a while, and as the top candidate had been determined, the end of the recruitment assembly was announced in advance. The school masters and elders flew on their swords to the 999th level, and as soon as they landed, a colossal pressure almost forced them down to their knees.

But due to Ye Wenxin’s presence, they could not let her see how affected they were, and pretended to dismiss this pressure.

Even though Ye Wenxin saw through the pretense of this group of elders and school masters, she did not expose it. The Sect Master stepped forward with difficulty and, adopting a flattering tone, handed Ye Wenxin a book, “Wenxin, this your reward for reaching the 999th level.”

As he spoke, he gave a mystic-tier manual to Ye Wenxin.

Ye Wenxin thanked him, naturally accepted the manual, put it into her bag of holding, and did not say anything more. She acted like she was very tired, when in truth she just did not want to talk other rubbish with the Sect Master, and was also cognizant of why this group of people was here.

“Wenxin, you have great talent, how about becoming this Sect Master’s true disciple?” The Sect Master seemed a little reluctant to give up, and seeing the other school masters’ fear towards Fairy Fengya, he simply dug the wall corner with Fairy Fengya’s face4 directly.

Fairy Fengya was still her apathetic self. Although she was obviously standing over there, she seemed to belong to a different world from those around her, yet her presence was impossible to ignore.

This was the true number one beauty, Ye Wenxin felt that Fairy Fengya was truly deserving of this title. However, thinking back to the things that happened between her and Fairy Fengya before, she knew not how to evaluate this dog-blooded black history5.

She had spent a long time searching for Fairy Fengya, but ended up finding herself living together with Fairy Fengya. She even hugged her, kissed her, and they just missed the final step. If it were not for the issue with the Spring Return Pill, in a roundabout way, Ye Wenxin should have devoured Fairy Fengya by now.

When this stupid thought flashed in Ye Wenxin’s mind, she felt herself about to go mad.

She could not help shuddering, until she felt a wave of fragrance wash over her, faint, yet somewhat familiar. Turning to look beside her, Fairy Fengya was standing right there, wordlessly confronting the Sect Master’s attempt at currying favor.

“School Master Fengya, although you’ve made a promise, it isn’t in compliance with our regulations, and you did not inform us beforehand. Furthermore, this child has the right to choose her master.” The Azure Wings Sect’s Sect Master refused to quit. If such an arrogant genius was taken away by Fairy Fengya, a second Fairy Fengya might appear.

One reticent Fairy Fengya was already uncomfortable to deal with, if another one popped up, he reckoned everyone would be at a loss. After mulling it over, the Azure Wings Sect’s Sect Master decided to persist.

Seeing the Sect Master’s reaction, and considering Fairy Fengya’s usually aloof demeanor, everyone expressed their belief that this promise should be invalidated.

“Are you people trying to force my Little Sister?” Ling Jue could not stand listening to this. She was most afraid that Ye Wenxin would be involved in the intrigue between these school masters, and now, Ye Wenxin had completely become a central figure, making Ling jue wish she could just take Ye Wenxin away to avoid witnessing Ye Wenxin’s possible demise one day.

“Yeah, I’ll make my own choice.” Ye Wenxin also calmed down. Because she was too excited over seeing Fairy Fengya earlier, she had yet to consider this choice.

If she wanted to kill Fairy Fengya, becoming her true disciple was undoubtedly the fastest option.

But then, if Fairy Fengya died, Ye Wenxin, as the true disciple, would be the first to be suspected. Although Ye Wenxin was an expert at running away, she still had people she needed to protect here and commitments to be fulfilled, she was not in a hurry to off Fairy Fengya so quickly.

“Then, Wenxin, how do you plan on choosing?” The gaze of everyone present converged on Ye Wenxin, expectantly awaiting her answer.

“I’ve already made up my mind.” And as she was presented this question, Ye Wenxin had made her choice.

She had their whole attention, and even Fairy Fengya glanced over, waiting for Ye Wenxin to answer.

“My answer is…I want to become an outer disciple.” Ye Wenxin decided to not choose anyone, this 999th level matter was too controversial, and once it spread out, it was bound to turn her life into a chaotic mess.

Moreover, she could tell that Fairy Fengya was not sincerely accepting disciples, and was just perfunctorily dealing with everyone. Even if Ye Wenxin actually accepted, it was highly likely that right as she became her true disciple, Fairy Fengya would announce entering closed door training again, never to interact with her until her death.

So Ye Wenxin chose to not choose anyone, to let Fairy Fengya harbor more curiosity towards her, and instead granting her a real chance of being invited to become a true disciple.

By then, Fairy Fengya would not continue to be on guard, and Ye Wenxin could repay all the humiliation of these years to Fairy Fengya, making her suffer unbearably but unable to die.

The more she thought about it, the more pleased Ye Wenxin felt. Fairy Fengya listened to the answer and then turned and walked away, clearly indifferent to the outcome. Such a leveling maniac would not even think about taking disciples. Ye Wenxin was even more delighted that she had made the right bet, but she saw the complex expressions of the other school masters and elders.

“Everyone, Wenxin possesses such remarkable talent, which is both a blessing and a curse. I implore you all to keep the matter of her being the top candidate secret, to prevent her from falling victim to evildoers.” Ling Jue added another sentence at this moment, expressing her satisfaction with Ye Wenxin’s response.

With her wings not yet fully grown and lacking self-defense abilities, the more low-key she was, the longer she could live.

The expressions of the crowd changed, and they began to calmly consider this issue.

In order to prevent the immortal sects from flourishing further, demon cultivators often paid attention to the immortal sects’ talented disciples. If the appearance of a genius like Ye Wenxin was known by demon cultivators, it would undoubtedly bring disaster.

“Wenxin, you did the right thing.” The calm crowd realized Ye Wenxin’s foresight and became more certain that Ye Wenxin was the prodigy they had been waiting for.

Ye Wenxin did not think much about it. Being praised by everyone made her feel a little embarrassed, but she could only continue to pretend to be modest and deceive everyone. The Azure Wings Sect’s Sect Master was confused and had to change the subject.

“However, since Fairy Fengya has announced that the top candidate would become a true disciple, then let the second-placed Gu Aotian be the top candidate.”

Others also expressed their agreement one after another, and Ye Wenxin felt even more impressed by the shrewdness of these old men.

As long as the most powerful opponent, School Master Fengya, was removed from the equation, Ye Wenxin would never have a chance to become Fairy Fengya’s second true disciple.

However, from this trend, it seemed that Fairy Fengya would still establish a relationship with Gu Aotian. Even though Ye Wenxin had altered Gu Aotian’s fate, he still seemed to have a protagonist’s halo.

“That’s settled then. Boys need more training after all.” The tacit decision of the crowd was to conceal Ye Wenxin, waiting for the day when she would make a remarkable appearance. Everyone smiled like sly foxes, and Ye Wenxin also discussed happily.

The main reason was that the pure and noble Fairy Fengya had already lost her first kiss, second kiss, third kiss and more, to herself. Ye Wenxin suddenly felt that everything she had done was not in vain. At least, she had beaten Gu Aotian to it by several years and given him an early “green hat.”

Not only that, Ye Wenxin even found this plot of competing with the male protagonist for the female lead quite exciting, making her suddenly want to enjoy the fun of being a villain.

…and the penny drops. I find it hilarious that Ye Wenxin’s first action is to immediately kiss her enemy.
