Chapter 58: The Script is Identical and Completely Plagiarized
“You can’t see through me?” Ye Wenxin was not surprised by this question, but she had never thought that Ling Jue would run down the mountain just to ask her something this abstruse.
“I can’t, I thought I already knew you very well, but I seem to have found that I’m wrong.” Ling Jue maintained her standing posture, the mask grasped tightly in her hand, a troubled frown etched on her pretty face.
“So that’s what you meant. Wouldn’t it be fine to just keep getting to know me then? Why trouble yourself with such a small thing?” Ye Wenxin released a breath, having assumed her identity had been discovered due to her acting skills not being up to par.
In the end, Ling Jue was only suspicious because of the talent she had demonstrated.
“I’m called Ye Wenxin, I’m thirteen years old, and my family lives in a village far, far away. In the village, everyone was surnamed Ye, but one day, I was found out to have Iceborn Constitution, and my family decided to sacrifice me for their own self-interest. Thus, I escaped out of desperation.” Ye Wenxin told a partly true story, however, the full story was that her Iceborn Constitution had led to a forced marriage.
The Ye Clan was cowardly and feared the other party’s influence, and even her biological mother in this world wore a disgusting face. Furious, Ye Wenxin killed everyone, escaped the other party’s pursuit, ended up falling into a valley while on the run, and attained the Flower Burial cultivation method.
The kills she had accumulated in the massacre made Ye Wenxin adept in training, in just a few years, she sat in the position of Palace Master of the Wind and Moon Palace, and it took few more years to become the Demon Lord Gu Qingcheng who commanded the demon cultivators.
Of course, Ye Wenxin could not voice this kind of thing, and if she did, her fate with Ling Jue would end.
The story was neither long nor short, and Ling Jue listened in silence. This was not the first time she had heard Ye Wenxin tell this story, but each time Ye Wenxin omitted a lot of the content.
“Why do you always like to say things halfway?” Ling Jue sighed, she was also aware she had not penetrated Ye Wenxin’s heart.
“Isn’t it more interesting to leave room for fantasy?” Ye Wenxin replied with a smile, this story of hers was actually copied from Su Mei’s experience.
If it were not for Su Mei painfully recounting this story to her that day, Ye Wenxin would not have known how to deceive Ling Jue to tears.
“Miss Wenxin, this person is…” Those who went to check out weapons had returned and saw Ling Jue at a glance. Ling Jue was not wearing the mask, and the delicate face on display made people look intently.
Ling Jue was a little uncomfortable at being seen, she turned her head with the intention of leaving, but Ye Wenxin grabbed her hand, introducing Ling Jue.
“This is a big sister I just met, she helped me get rid of bad guys earlier.” Ye Wenxin lied even more fluently, appropriately fabricating a new identity for Ling Jue.
Leaving Ling Jue to decide whether she wanted to accept it or not.
“It can’t be, there are even people who dared to be presumptuous at the foot of the Azure Wings Sect’s mountain!” Gu Aotian revealed a displeased expression, holding Ye Wenxin by the arm as he looked around vigilantly, worried of the lechers’ reappearance.
“A large amount of people would naturally draw in a few mice, you don’t know this before, I’ve met several…who looked like that man.” Ye Wenxin pointed to a familiar-looking man behind her.
At a closer look, it was the fat pig who had his third leg broken off by Long Qing’er.
Although he was now reduced to a thin bamboo pole, he still looked ordinary and did not attract anyone’s attention. Instead, there was a handsome man standing behind him. If Ye Wenxin remembered correctly, this man was called Wen Yiming, the fiancé of Huang Hanyan, her turncoat disciple.
“It’s him!” Gu Aotian was a little surprised at seeing Wen Yiming.
“You know Wen Yiming?”
Ye Wenxin was quite curious, if she took Gu Aotian’s male protagonist halo as example, this Wen Yiming’s character setting would only have a few options. Old enemy, or love rival. No matter which he was he would be the key to promoting the plot.
“We met once during the second trial.” Gu Aotian answered, but judging from that expression, he did not seem to hold Wen Yiming in much favor.
Wen Yiming also seemed to recognize Gu Aotian, however, his gaze kept falling on Ling Jue’s face and was frozen in place for a while. Not only Wen Yiming, the fat pig and even the passersby around them stopped, noticing Ling Jue’s stunning face.
Ling Jue seemed a bit annoyed. She put the mask back on and looked at Ye Wenxin.
“I’ll be going first.” She only came for Ye Wenxin, but it seemed that Ye Wenxin did not have the time to pay attention to Ling Jue.
“See you later, Big Sister.” Ye Wenxin responded right away. That graceful figure had no other intention of looking back, as if reluctant to have any involvement with other people.
“Don’t tell me that sister was Fairy Fengya.” Gu Xiangsi grabbed Ye Wenxin’s arm, surprised by Ling Jue’s beauty.
Ye Wenxin was bemused as she heard this, glad that Ling Jue walked fast. If she learned someone had compared her to Fairy Fengya she would probably get upset again.
No matter how gentle Ling Jue’s temper was, there was a bottom line behind this gentleness.
“Xiangsi, when you see a pretty sister in the future, you must never assume they’re Fairy Fengya, those ladies would get desperate with you.” It was precisely because Ye Wenxin was always used to compare with Fairy Fengya that she understood that sort of feeling.
“Is that how it is? Brother, you won top candidate, is Fairy Fengya as pretty as that sister?” Gu Xiangsi still could not make head or tail of it, but was quick to pass the topic towards Gu Aotian.
Gu Aotian looked at Ye Wenxin, his expression somewhat awkward, yet he could not tell the truth.
“What’s there to compare, everyone looks different.” Ye Wenxin continued beating around the bush, and then caught Gu Aotian’s grateful look. Ye Wenxin felt even guiltier, thinking in her mind that she was stealing everything from Gu Aotian.
She had stolen Fairy Fengya’s first kiss, seized Gu Aotian’s opportunity, even the first impression that the two should have had deeply ingrained, all of it was robbed clean by Ye Wenxin.
Fortunately, however, Gu Aotian was still oblivious to all the things she had done.
A smile spread across Ye Wenxin’s face as she continued fooling Gu Xiangsi, only to see Wen Yiming stepping forward and bowing lightly towards them.
“So it’s the top candidate of this time’s recruitment assembly, I am Wen Yiming.” Wen Yiming introduced himself casually, his eyes showing no respect.
As the Heavenly Stairs had 999 levels, unless one had a strong cultivation base, it was absolutely impossible to see the actual situation going on up above. This Wen Yiming knew that Gu Aotian was the superficial top candidate with endless potential, he showed this kind of expression and reaction regardless, it was not hard to parse the personal grudge that existed between Gu Aotian and Wen Yiming.
“Big Sis, this person is annoying.” Gu Xiangsi held onto Ye Wenxin tighter, the disgust in her eyes evident.
Needless to say, this Wen Yiming might appear rather upright, but he had done quite a few underhanded deeds behind the scenes. Even Gu Xiangsi was keenly aware of his unpleasant character.
Thinking again about before, Ye Wenxin almost regarded Wen Yiming as the male protagonist and felt she was blind. This hypocrite standing before her should be a small time villain.
Although not much of a threat, he could assist in the male protagonist’s growth.
At this thought, Ye Wenxin did not plan to eliminate this danger called Wen Yiming and went to peruse clothes over there with Gu Xiangsi, letting those group of people fight to the death.
While they were shopping for clothes, Gu Xiangsi also told her about the things that happened in those few days. One of the matter concerned Wen Yiming ambushing them.
“I was scared to death then. Big Brother got beaten half to death and had no way to fight back, he looked like he was about to get killed, but I don’t know where Big Brother gained the strength, he actually beat those bad guys back and sent them running,” Gu Xiangsi described the scene that only she had witnessed, not only that, Gu Aotian’s wounds had healed, and the more he fought the more courageous he became.
“Big Sis, Big Bro won’t let me tell this to others, but I just wanted to let you know.” Gu Xiangsi had whispered this matter to Ye Wenxin’s ear, not aware that if someone with high cultivation wanted to listen, they could pick up the content clearly, even if they were separated by a few walls.
Ye Wenxin had no intention of speaking up, wanting to preserve this innocent side of Gu Xiangsi. However, seeing Gu Xiangsi’s guilty reaction, Ye Wenxin could not help smiling and said, “Why would you want to let me know? Aren’t you afraid I’ll snitch?”
Gu Xiangsi’s eyes remained unchanged as she undoubtedly said, “’Cause you’re my Big Sis, you protect me and treat me well, how could you sell me out.”
This sentence was spoken quite plainly, yet when it came to this world, it was the most difficult thing.
Everyone pursued strength, and whatever original intention and justice they carried would deteriorate over time. Ye Wenxin came to realize something, she did not want this child Gu Xiangsi to experience any more sadness.
“Silly, when someone’s nice to you, they have their own motives. The only one you should, and could trust, is you.”
“Of course I trust myself, but I trust Big Sister too.”
“Oh you…I’m really not a good person.” Ye Wenxin knew not whether to laugh or cry. She was truly a big demon that struck fear in people’s hearts, if Gu Xiangsi saw her killing people, Ye Wenxin felt she would never be able to say this.
“As long as you’re good to me, it doesn’t matter what you do to others.” Gu Xiangsi did not fathom why Ye Wenxin was pushing her away, she only wanted a big sister, one that could let her be spoiled and accompany her through the long road of cultivation.
Instead, this answer stumped Ye Wenxin. Upon careful consideration, she assumed she had resigned the identity of Demon Lord Gu Qingcheng, however, she actually had not.
“You’re right.” Ye Wenxin stopped thinking about those messy things and continued listening to Gu Xiangsi talk about her little secret.
The relationship between the two girls was much closer, and such closeness was also because they would see less and less of each other after becoming Azure Wings Sect disciples…
“Big Sis, you have to come accompany me at the inner sect soon.”
“I will.”
The seven-day leisure time came to an end within the blink of an eye, and towards the end Gu Xiangsi was still reluctant to leave Ye Wenxin. There was an insurmountable gap between the outer sect and inner sect.
After bidding farewell to Gu Xiangsi, Ye Wenxin was naturally arranged into the outer sect girls’ dormitory. Fortunately, it was no longer a room shared with more than a dozen people, but a two-person room.
