Chapter 40: Sorghum Noodles (Part 2)
Li Lijuan walked up to Zhao Xiulan angrily and questioned, “Where’s my portion of noodles? Why didn’t you serve me? Bring it to me!”
Zhao Xiulan smirked and replied coldly, “Aren’t you capable of doing things yourself? Do you still need to be served? Everyone is equal here, Li Lijuan. You want me to serve you? That’s acting like a master. If you want to eat, then serve yourself! If you don’t want to serve yourself, then don’t eat. No one will serve you now!”
With Zhao Xiulan’s words, Zhao Weiguo also looked displeased and turned to Li Lijuan, “That’s right, Lijuan. Do your own things. If you want to eat, go to the pot and serve yourself. What’s the point of ordering Xiulan around? Do you have to have someone serve the food to you even when eating a meal? Your habits and attitude are really not good.”
Li Lijuan clenched her fists in anger. Seeing everyone enjoying the sorghum noodles so much, she couldn’t refuse to eat out of spite. She had to go to the kitchen and serve herself a bowl of noodles.
But there was only a little bit left in the pot, probably just half a bowl of noodles, and the rest was soup. Compared to the portion of noodles in the bowls of the Zhao family members, hers was much smaller.
Li Lijuan gritted her teeth, suspecting that Zhao Xiulan deliberately left her with only a small portion of noodles.
How could she be full with so little noodles?
Why was Zhao Xiulan so unreasonable?
Holding the bowl, Li Lijuan walked up to Zhao Xiulan with an aggressive posture and demanded, “Zhao Xiulan, why did you leave me with so little noodles? You all ate so much, but this tiny portion won’t be enough for me to eat. You…you’re too much!”
As Li Lijuan spoke, she was directly angered to tears, rubbing her red eyes.
Zhao Weiguo took a look at Li Lijuan’s bowl and saw that there was indeed only half a bowl of noodles, which was too little.
His own large bowl of noodles had been finished, and he couldn’t give Li Lijuan any more.
Thinking of his own portion, which was quite generous, he realised that it was probably taken from Li Lijuan’s portion.
Everyone ate a lot, and Li Lijuan was left with only such a small amount. Taking a share from Li Lijuan, Zhao Weiguo suddenly felt a little embarrassed.
“Xiulan, why did you leave Lijuan with so little noodles? It’s indeed not enough to eat…”
Zhao Xiulan knew that Zhao Weiguo had softened again, so she directly expressed her inner thoughts. “Dad, I thought she wasn’t going to eat, so I only left her a little. Besides, she’s only worthy of eating this much.”
“Zhao Xiulan, what do you mean by that? What do you mean by saying I’m only worthy of eating this much?” Li Lijuan shouted.
Zhao Xiulan said in a flat tone, “Do as much work as you eat. Li Lijuan, you earned two work points today, so you can only eat this much noodles. If we earn more work points, we can have more noodles. If you want to eat more, then earn more work points!
“If you’re lazy and shirk work, you’ll only earn two work points like a lazy pig. Xiu Zhu, a child, is much younger than you, but she earned three and a half work points. I went to beg for grain in the morning and went again in the afternoon, earning three work points in one afternoon.
“You, on the other hand, haven’t done much work, and you only earned two work points. Now, where do you have the nerve to complain about not having enough noodles?”
Li Lijuan’s face turned red with shame.
She wanted to refute Zhao Xiulan, but the fact that she only earned two work points today was undeniable. She couldn’t deny it!
