Chapter 1: Medical Malpractice Misunderstanding
If Yu Jingjing had known she would die today because of a medical malpractice misunderstanding, she would never have come to work.
Early in the morning, just as she started her shift, dressed in her white coat and leading a group of medical interns on rounds, a middle-aged man hurriedly approached, holding a fruit basket.
The man suddenly dropped to his knees in front of Yu Jingjing. “Doctor Yu, thank you, thank you so much.”
Yu Jingjing had only been a doctor for a few years but had already saved thousands of patients. It wasn’t unusual for family members to come thank her—kneeling and bowing was no rare sight.
“You don’t need to do this. Please, get up,” Yu Jingjing bent down to help him.
But the man stayed on his knees. “Doctor Yu, I won’t get up. I want to thank your ancestors for eighteen generations. I’m grateful to death for you!”
Pft. From beneath the fruit basket, a sharp knife suddenly slid out and was thrust into Yu Jingjing’s abdomen—then came the second stab, and the third.
“Yu Juhua, you killed my wife, so I’m going to kill you!”
The people nearby rushed to stop him, shouting, “This isn’t Yu Juhua! This is Doctor Yu Jingjing!”
“What?” The attacker froze in shock. He had stabbed the wrong person.
The next second, he stabbed himself.
“Hurry! Emergency resuscitation for Doctor Yu, quickly!”
“What about the family member?”
“Give him a couple of stabs too… Ugh, just bring him in for rescue too.”
Inside the Emergency Room
“Doctor Yu, Doctor Yu, wake up, please wake up!”
Yu Jingjing woke up—but she was no longer in the same world. She realized she had transmigrated. Images of an adulterous man and woman flashed through her mind, while outside the room, a mother and daughter were speaking.
“Mom, is she going to die?”
“Who knows? She was so fiery that she fought with me. If she dies, then so be it—all her stuff will belong to us. If she lives, we’ll sell her off far away so she can’t come back for revenge.
But for now, let’s grab the few thousand yuan she has. If she wakes up later, it’ll be troublesome.
Let’s go in and check how that little slut is doing.”
“Come on, let’s go.”
As soon as they opened the door, both of their foreheads took a series of hard punches—bam, bam, bam!
The attacks were so fast they didn’t even have time to react. Their soft flesh was hit so hard that they cried out in pain.
“Yu—Yu Jingjing! When did you wake up?” Aunt Zhao Jinhua glared at her, eyes nearly bulging.
“Just now.”
Yu Jingjing raised her hand and slapped Zhao Jinhua twice across the face.
Her cousin Yu Yanjiao charged forward. “Don’t hit my mom!”
Yu Jingjing kicked her to the ground.
If it weren’t for these two, the original owner of this body wouldn’t have died.
Her parents had only passed away a month ago, and her grandmother had brought Uncle’s whole family to live in her house under the guise of taking care of her. That morning, she overheard her aunt and cousin talking about sending her off to the countryside. Once she left, her house, her parents’ compensation, and the two job slots from the factory would all be theirs.
The original owner couldn’t take it and tried to drive them out. But that heartless woman pushed her so hard that her head hit the coffee table—she bled too much and died.
Actually, they hadn’t originally planned to send her off so quickly. Her parents had only died a month ago, and they still wanted to maintain a good appearance in front of the neighbors. But the day before yesterday, her aunt and the bachelor Li Dana were caught having an affair in this house. When the original owner saw them, her aunt coaxed and threatened her into silence. But in the end, her aunt didn’t let her go.
That push wasn’t an accident—it was intentional murder.
Zhao Jinhua and Yu Yanjiao had never expected Yu Jingjing to fight back. She’d always been so quiet and gentle.
Zhao Jinhua shrieked, “You little brat! You’ve got guts to hit your elder!”
“Well, I’ve already done it, haven’t I?”
“You brat, I won’t let you get away with this!” Zhao Jinhua ignored the pain and charged at Yu Jingjing. Yu Jingjing sidestepped and grabbed her arm, throwing her into the room. With another kick, her aunt’s forehead slammed against the edge of the table, bringing tears to her eyes.
“Yu Jingjing, you little brat, I—I’m going to fight you!”
“I won’t let her go either!” Yu Yanjiao also pounced at Yu Jingjing.
Yu Jingjing grabbed both of them and kicked each in the stomach. They both fell to the ground.
Yu Jingjing sneered at Yu Yanjiao, “I bet you don’t even know—your lovely mom’s been having an affair for years. Who knows if you’re really your father’s child? Maybe you’re that bastard Li Dana’s kid.”
“You’re lying! I’m my father’s daughter, not someone else’s!”
“Oh really? You and Li Dana look suspiciously alike. Bet you’re his.”
“You’re lying! I’m my dad’s child!”
Yu Yanjiao lunged at Yu Jingjing again, only to be sat on and pinched hard in all her soft spots. Neither of them could fight back. After a round of screams and wails, Zhao Jinhua couldn’t take it anymore and ran outside.
“Murder! Yu Jingjing is trying to kill us! Everyone, help us call the police!”
The little brat dared to hit them—she had to be thrown in jail.
Soon, Yu Yanjiao ran out too, also crying and shouting that Yu Jingjing was trying to kill them.
Yu Jingjing followed behind them.
Let’s see who ends up in jail.
They were in the residential compound for the pharmaceutical factory. Zhao Jinhua ran out first, plopped down on the ground, and began wailing.
“Please help us! We can’t take this anymore! After the second son and his wife passed, we came to take care of the girl, afraid she couldn’t manage alone. Who would’ve thought she’d be so ungrateful? Yanjiao just touched her clothes, and she started punching and kicking us! She wants to kill us!”
Yu Yanjiao sat beside her, wiping tears—hers were real from the beating.
“Please help us! Yu Jingjing is bullying us. Call the police and have her arrested!”
There were only two elderly ladies sitting in the shade initially, but the loud wails attracted other neighbors.
But everyone looked skeptical.
“That Jingjing girl—we watched her grow up. Always sweet and well-mannered. How could she hit you?”
“Exactly. Team Leader Yu and his wife raised her well. She would never beat up her elders.”
“It’s true! We’re not lying! Can someone help us call the police?”
Zhao Jinhua tried to gather sympathy. If no one would call the police for her, she’d go herself. No matter what, that girl had to be thrown behind bars.
Before anyone could respond, Yu Jingjing came out, holding the back of her head, tears streaming down her face—looking utterly pitiful.
She knelt on the ground.
“Dad… Mom… why didn’t you take me with you? Why did you leave me behind? I wanted to go with you. I know you’d want me to live well, but some people won’t let me.
As soon as you were gone, Grandma and Uncle’s family moved in to take everything. They want our house for my cousin’s marriage, and my job too. Maybe they would’ve waited longer, but I saw Aunt Zhao having sex with Li Dana the other day, and then she secretly signed me up to go to the countryside. I confronted her, and she pushed me hard against the table. She wanted me dead. I barely survived.”
But the original owner had, in fact, already died.
“And look at Yu Yanjiao—does she even look like she belongs in our family?”
Everyone gasped in shock.
They already knew that family was greedy—but this?
And now that they looked, Yu Yanjiao didn’t resemble Yu Changhe at all. She did, however, look a lot like Li Dana.
“She must be Li Dana’s child. How many years has this been going on?”
Zhao Jinhua panicked. “You brat! Don’t talk nonsense! Don’t listen to her, everyone. She’s lying! We’ve been looking after her out of kindness!”
Yu Jingjing lowered her head, revealing the bloodied wound on the back of her head.
Everyone could see—she’d taken quite a hit. They hadn’t held back.
“Oh my, look at that poor girl—how badly she’s hurt!” Neighbor Li Ailing rushed over to examine her head. “Beating someone like this and still lying about it? Sweetheart, does it hurt? Auntie will take you to the hospital.”
