Chapter 35
Yu Chunyan’s youngest son is just one year old, which is a very annoying time.
“I come from the countryside, I have low education, no skills, no experience, no one wants me, and I have to take care of the kids all day, how can I have the time?”
“If I tell you how to make money, what would you like to do, sister-in-law?”
Shu Wan remembered that Yu Chunyan knew how to make clothes and her skills were pretty good.
She thought about it again and again these two days and felt that being so tired was not a solution.
I only have one pair of hands and limited time, so I can only knit so many sweaters. However, my mind has unlimited creative inspiration, so I might as well seize this opportunity and find another way.
When Yu Chunyan heard this, she said, “Of course I’m willing!” Then she thought that Shu Wan and she were also from the countryside, and they didn’t have as much experience as city people, so they didn’t have any skills. She was afraid that she had been cheated.
Yu Chunyan advised earnestly: “Shu Wan, you can’t do anything illegal or criminal.”
Shu Wan didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. “Sister-in-law, you think too much. We are military wives. We must set a good example for the people and resolutely put an end to illegal and criminal activities.”
Hearing this, Yu Chunyan breathed a sigh of relief.
“Sister-in-law, you can knit sweaters. I’ll give you the pattern and you can make them. As long as the quality is up to standard, I’ll buy them no matter how many pieces you make.”
“Something like that.” Yu Chunyan knew that her cooking skills were okay, but she was afraid that Shu Wan’s would be too complicated.
Shu Wan took out a sweater she had knitted and handed it to Yu Chunyan to see, “This is it, one piece at a time. The specific price depends on the style. I will provide the materials.”
Yu Chunyan took a look and thought the style was quite novel and not difficult to make. The materials were provided by Shu Wan, one piece at a time, which was a sure win.
Yu Chunyan was of course willing, “Are you really willing to accept as many as you want?”
Shu Wan nodded, “As long as the quality is up to standard. But there is a time limit for purchasing each style, we won’t buy it forever.”
“I want to do it.”
“Sister-in-law, I’ll draw it for you now. If you have any questions, you can ask me.”
Yu Chunyan found a pen and paper and handed them to Shu Wan. Shu Wan wrote a few strokes and the pattern appeared on the paper.
Yu Chunyan widened her eyes. She didn’t expect that Shu Wan was not only smart, but also so good at drawing. Her paintings were so beautiful.
The style above was something she had never seen before, and it looked very nice.
“This is parent-child clothing. There are styles for adults and children. One piece for adults is 1.5 yuan, and one piece for children is 1 yuan.”
Yu Chunyan nodded. She looked at the picture of a big and a small couple wearing the same clothes and holding hands. She was moved. They were so cute.
Shu Wan and Yu Chunyan agreed to deliver the goods in three days, and went to Shu Wan’s home to get the materials. When leaving, she said she would come back to her if the materials were not enough.
Yu Chunyan left excitedly.
Shu Wan went back to the room and continued knitting.
As it gradually darkened, Shu Wan stretched her neck and got up to cook.
Shu Wan peeled the sweet potatoes that Sister Yu had just brought over, cut them into pieces, and boiled them together with the rice. The rice grains on top were swirling and bubbling. During this time, she blanched water, stir-fried vegetables, and stewed meat.
Shu Wan had just sat down when Huo Zhengye and the others came back.
Shu Wan was wearing an apron with her sleeves rolled up to reveal her jade-like arms. She was fiddling with the plates with her head down. Her tied-up hair fell to her temples due to the movement and was casually pushed to her ears.
Shu Wan’s lazy, casual and warm demeanor made Huo Zhengye feel unfamiliar.
When he comes back from an outing, his wife comes back with meals prepared, as if they are really a family.
Huo Miaoyue interrupted the warm atmosphere, glanced at the food, and sneered, “We just ate outside. There was fish and meat, which is much richer than your porridge and side dishes.”
After her grandmother recovered, Huo Miaoyue’s confidence and arrogance returned.
Huo Zhengye suddenly didn’t dare to look at Shu Wan. When he came back, he couldn’t stand Huo Miaoyue’s grumbling and acting coquettish. They had eaten outside.
Thinking about Shu Wan leaving early in the afternoon, and considering her personality, it was probably the calm before the storm. They were afraid that Shu Wan would be in a bad mood until midnight if they went back, so they went to eat first.
Unexpectedly, Shu Wan not only did it, but also made a sumptuous meal when they got home. Her brows were relaxed, her eyes were clear and open, and there was no negative emotion at all.
It’s just my own petty mind.
Shu Wan glanced at Huo Zhengye and saw that he was evasive, and she immediately understood.
She couldn’t help feeling hurt, but after a moment she laughed at herself, wondering if she had become addicted to being a babysitter these days. Hurry up and cook.
“I understand. Next time you eat out, tell me and I won’t do so much.”
After saying this, Shu Wan felt a little annoyed. If they divorced in a few days, they would be strangers and there would be no next time.
Hearing Shu Wan say this, Huo Zhengye felt even more uncomfortable. He washed his hands and took the dishes from Shu Wan, “Actually, I’m not full yet. I’ll eat some more.”
“I’m full, grandma, let’s go back to the house.”
Huo Miaoyue was about to leave holding Grandma Huo’s arm, but Grandma Huo didn’t move. Huo Miaoyue turned her head and saw that Grandma was staring at Shu Wan.
Just now in the hospital, Grandma Huo felt inexplicably awkward and uncomfortable so that she couldn’t look directly at Shu Wan.
After everyone left in the afternoon, Grandma Huo suddenly realized that she had hurt her grandson’s wife’s heart. She knew that she was avoiding her because she was embarrassed and uncomfortable. People who didn’t know would think that she didn’t like her granddaughter-in-law.
Especially when I opened the door and saw the table full of food prepared by Shu Wan, I had an even better impression of Shu Wan. He is a sensible and considerate person.
Grandma Huo pressed down Huo Miaoyue’s hand and said, “I was so sick of the food I ate last night that I just wanted to drink some light sweet potato porridge. Shu Wan, you’ve worked hard.”
After that, he said to Huo Miaoyue: “Miaoyue,”
Grandma Huo looked at Shu Wan seriously for the first time, and her heart suddenly softened.
“I’m tired of eating at night, and I suddenly want to drink some porridge. Miaoyue, your sister-in-law worked hard to make it, so you have to drink a bowl anyway.”
Huo Miaoyue’s eyes widened. She almost suspected that the bad grandma had come back again!
Huo Miaoyue pouted and wanted to say something, but was frightened by Grandma Huo’s sharp eyes and swallowed it back.
Huo Miaoyue sat down reluctantly.
“Shu Wan, it’s really hard to do so much. I just couldn’t stand being hungry on the road and insisted on eating something. If I had known that you were so good at cooking, I would have endured it until I got home.”
Grandma Huo didn’t want the couple to have conflicts, so she took the initiative to take the responsibility.
Shu Wan smiled and put a bowl of porridge in front of her, “Grandma, eat if you want to, but don’t eat too much, it will be hard to digest at night.”
Seeing that Shu Wan looked normal, Grandma Huo felt relieved and took a sip.
The aroma of rice and the slight sweetness of sweet potato flow into your mouth, making your whole body feel warm and comfortable.
“Comfortable!” Grandma Huo sighed, and she liked Shu Wan even more.
This granddaughter-in-law is also very pretty, with a small mouth and face, red lips and white teeth, especially her eyes…
Suddenly, Grandma Huo stopped moving and stared at her blankly.
Shu Wan’s face actually looks somewhat like Xixi.
When Huo Miaoyue saw Grandma Huo staring at Shu Wan, her alarm bells went off and she kept talking to distract her.
Shu Wan occasionally looked up to pick up some food, and the rest of the time she sipped the porridge in small sips.
After the meal, Huo Zhengye took the initiative to wash the dishes.
Shu Wan took the initiative to take things out of the room and went to the west room.
When he met Huo Zhengye who had finished his work, he reached out to help, but Shu Wan refused. Huo Zhengye did not force her and watched Shu Wan move the things back and forth several times.
Only after Shu Wan had moved in and closed the door did Huo Zhengye smooth out the frown on his brows and get up to boil some water.
Before leaving, Huo Zhengye discovered that Shu Wan appeared at the gate of the courtyard at some point.
Seeing him coming, she raised her eyelids and looked at him.
In the dim light, Shu Wan’s outfit was so white that it reflected light, and just standing there she could attract everyone’s attention without making any noise.
As he got closer, a breeze blew by and Huo Zhengye smelled a faint fragrance mixed with the smell of soap. He felt inexplicably dry and his face looked even colder.
Shu Wan pulled her outer cover closer and said, “I’m going into the city tomorrow.”
“Yeah.” Huo Zhengye answered absentmindedly.
She seemed to have just finished taking a shower. Her hair, which had just been tied up, was now draped over her chest. Her hair was not dry yet and was damp.
Huo Zhengye was a head taller than Shu Wan. When he lowered his head, he saw water droplets dripping from the ends of her hair, which slowly slid into her collar…
