Chapter 11
Mu Yao was sleeping not far from Su Qing when he was suddenly awakened by her voice. Thinking something had happened to her, he quickly got up, threw on some clothes, and rushed toward her room.
He didn’t bother to knock and barged in—only to witness an unexpected scene.
In front of him, Su Qing’s hair was down, her usual cold and imposing aura from the night before completely gone. Now, she looked like a delicate woman. She was wearing a light purple Xiangyun gauze nightdress, revealing her fair arms and slender neck—so tempting it made him want to look further.
His mouth suddenly felt dry. The just-woken-up Su Qing had the soft charm of a gentle woman, especially when she was angry—she looked incredibly alluring.
Mu Yao completely forgot why he had come in.
“What are you doing in here again?! Get the hell out!” Su Qing, seeing him barge in so inappropriately, flared up. She grabbed a pillow beside her and threw it directly at him.
Still caught up in the sight of Su Qing, Mu Yao was jolted back to reality when the pillow hit him. He looked at her, wanting to explain why he had come, but then noticed Mu Yan sitting across from Su Qing with a pouting face, not daring to move a muscle.
“I came to get Yan’er. Yan’er!” Mu Yao rubbed his nose awkwardly, pretending to be calm as he spoke to Su Qing.
Mu Yan curled his lips: Liar. You were snoring so loud in your sleep I couldn’t even rest…
Mu Yao strode over to the bed and lifted the covers, ready to pick up Mu Yan and leave. But he accidentally caught a glimpse of Su Qing’s fair and shapely legs under the blanket. His eyes burned, and he suddenly felt flushed all over.
Su Qing followed his gaze downward and her face instantly turned dark. She picked up another pillow and threw it at him. “What are you staring at, pervert?! Both of you—get out!!”
Mu Yao quickly picked up Mu Yan and fled the room, not daring to linger.
“Dad, why did Mommy hit us? Why are you breathing so hard? Your body feels really hot—I want to get down,” Mu Yan said, dazed from being smacked and noticing that Mu Yao was hot and panting.
“Shut up!” Mu Yao, feeling the heat rise in his body, stormed back to his room, set Mu Yan down, and walked straight into the bathroom, slamming the door shut behind him.
Mu Yan heard the sound of rushing water from the bathroom and tilted his head in confusion: Did Dad not shower last night?
Su Qing had since changed into a sky-blue linen dress. She had long forgotten the scene just now. Facing the mirror, she applied a light touch of makeup, getting ready to go out.
As she walked downstairs, she unintentionally glanced toward Mu Yao’s room. Inside, Mu Yan seemed to sense something. He peered out from behind the door, eyes filled with anticipation.
Their eyes met.
Mu Yan wanted to run up to her immediately, but was stopped cold by Su Qing’s sharp gaze. He could only stand there, watching longingly as she descended the stairs.
“Stop right there, Su Qing!”
Ye Yun, who had spent the night on the sofa and barely slept due to the cold, had only managed to doze off a little around dawn.
Seeing Su Qing about to go out, she couldn’t pretend anymore—especially with Mu Yao not around.
Fuming, she stormed up to Su Qing and shouted, “How dare you order the butler to make me sleep in the guest lounge?!”
Su Qing looked at Ye Yun’s disheveled, haggard appearance and replied coldly, “Because I’m the General’s wife. That’s why.”
“You—!”
Ye Yun finally snapped. She raised her hand, about to slap Su Qing, but Su Qing swiftly grabbed her wrist and sent a crisp slap across her face in return!
The loud slap echoed through the living room, making all the servants freeze in place, staring silently at the scene.
Mu Yan, meanwhile, was lying on the stairs, watching with great interest. “Nice! That’s my mommy for you!”
Ye Yun clutched her stinging cheek, staring at Su Qing in disbelief. “You actually dared to hit me! You—you’ve gone mad first thing in the morning!”
“Do I need to pick a time to hit you?” Su Qing stared her down coldly. If Ye Yun didn’t still have some minor use, she would’ve torn her apart by now.
Ye Yun glared at her. “Su Qing! I came to help relieve your stress and even brought Xu Huaichuan here to help you win over Mu Yao. You’re not grateful—instead, you repay kindness with cruelty!”
“Only you know who exactly you were helping. Why should I be grateful?”
Su Qing left these words behind and brushed past Ye Yun, walking away without looking back.
Ye Yun stood there, clutching her face in embarrassment. The servants’ eyes on her made her feel even more humiliated.
She glared venomously at Su Qing’s retreating figure. Hmph. Just wait until I become the General’s wife—I’ll replace every single person in this house!
After seeing Su Qing leave, Mu Yan quickly ran to his room, grabbed a toy gun from his backpack—originally meant to prank Su Qing—and snuck into a hidden corner. He aimed the gun at Ye Yun and began spraying her relentlessly.
How dare you bully my mommy! Let’s see how I deal with you!
Ye Yun was suddenly drenched by some unknown liquid. Her Armani outfit was now covered in a colorful mess. “Aahh! Who did this?! WHO?!”
She looked up and saw the liquid spraying from somewhere on the staircase.
Just as she was about to go upstairs, Mu Yao stepped out, dressed in full military uniform, looking tall and imposing. “Mu Yao—Yao! Look at me! Wuwuwu, look at what happened to me!”
Seeing Mu Yao appear, Mu Yan quickly stopped, darted into Su Qing’s room, and shut the door.
Mu Yao saw Ye Yun stumbling over to him in a miserable state, a foul chemical smell wafting from her clothes. He frowned and took a step back.
Glancing at the colors on her outfit, he instantly figured out who was behind it.
“Yao, look at me. I don’t know who’s playing tricks, but they made me stink like this. Wuwuwu.” Ye Yun sobbed, oblivious to Mu Yao’s expression as she poured out her complaint.
He looked around, searching for Mu Yan. Where did that brat go now? Always leaving me to clean up the mess!
Ye Yun, noticing Mu Yao wasn’t responding, pitifully added, “Wuwuwu, Yao, I feel so wronged. I woke up early to greet Qing’er and even reminded her to focus more on the household, but for some reason, she just slapped me. I don’t know what I did wrong…”
Hearing that Su Qing had slapped Ye Yun for seemingly no reason, Mu Yao assumed Su Qing was annoyed at being bothered and didn’t want to deal with him. His heart cooled a bit.
“Ask the butler for some ointment,” he said flatly, then walked past her and left the house.
He had little feeling for Ye Yun. The only reasons she was still in the house were because she was Su Qing’s cousin—and because she had once saved his life. Nothing more.
