Chapter 67: I’m Still a Child 1
Although the words said were pure, Ye Wenxin had an insistent feeling they were doing something impure.
“Senior Sister, can we talk with the door open?” Ye Wenxin thought of another idea to solve this embarrassing situation, and that was to open the door then wrap a quilt around herself as they chat. Like this, she would not have to worry about Long Qing’er’s stress-induced personality distortion or even a change in sexual preference.1
“Dear, you’re shivering from the cold. Do you really want to open the door?” Long Qing’er held back a smile, amused by the sight of a frightened Ye Wenxin.
If it were not for Long Qing’er’s single-minded admiration for Fairy Fengya, there might have been a chance for romantic feelings to develop. However, the present Long Qing’er simply wanted to have a nice chat with Ye Wenxin under the covers. Furthermore, as the topic of conversation was quite personal, she had no choice but to push Ye Wenxin onto her own bed.
“Well, at least the air would circulate, so I won’t catch a cold.” Ye Wenxin hardened her resolve and continued to make her excuse. It was not that she was unable to resist, just that the cost of resistance was too great.
She only knew how to kill, and in one shot at that.
Long Qing’er came closer and closer. Ye Wenxin contemplated using silver needles to control Long Qing’er, but unexpectedly, as their distance grew ever smaller, Long Qing’er mysteriously pulled out a book.
“Have a look, what’s this?”
Ye Wenxin’s gaze was drawn by the book in an instant and was even more embarrassed after reading just a few pages.
This was an introductory book on wrestling for men and women. Ye Wenxin originally did not intend on misunderstanding Long Qing’er, but this book was too provocative for her.
“Senior Sister, I’m still a kid, how could you show this kind of book to me!” Ye Wenxin could only maintain a stern face, having assumed Long Qing’er was truly going to give her something good, yet little did she know this Long Qing’er would be corrupting her.
“Hm? What’s wrong dear? Of course this kind of book should be introduced from childhood.” Long Qing’er was puzzled, having spent a large sum of spirit stones to finally get her hands on this book.
But she never expected her good intentions would put a frown on Ye Wenxin’s face.
Long Qing’er found it hard to accept and took back the book, intending to explain to Ye Wenxin how remarkable it was. However, upon closer look at the wrestling scenes depicted on its pages, she immediately realized the problem.
“Forgive me, I got the wrong book.” Long Qing’er blushed sheepishly, at last understanding why Ye Wenxin was so upset.
She quickly retrieved another book from her bag of holding, its cover similar to the previous one, but the content within seemed older, with even a potent inheritance magic attached on it.
Ye Wenxin was immediately drawn in by the power of the book, completely forgetting to inquire about Long Qing’er’s purpose in keeping the book on wrestling between men and women.
“What’s this?”
“This is a heritage book I bought from an auction, it contains information on some more unorthodox alchemical techniques. I thought you would like it, so I bought it.” Long Qing’er began introducing the book, noticing how Ye Wenxin was captivated, her eyes revealing a longing expression for the first time.
Ye Wenxin was usually composed and aloof, but just by looking at her expression, Long Qing’er knew she had chosen the right book.
“Is this book really for me?” Ye Wenxin was completely entranced by the book. Previously, she pursued being the best in the world, thinking other books were rubbish. But since she started learning about alchemy and the Soul Suppressing Eighteen Needles, she found more enjoyment in this world.
While this book might not compare to ancient texts, the alchemical formulas contained within were rare in the world. If she could truly master them, Ye Wenxin’s accomplishments in alchemy would undoubtedly see even greater breakthroughs.
“Of course it’s for you. This book originally belonged to me. It’s an excerpt from a one-time inheritance, and I only transcribed the first half. There’s no pressure if you accept it.” Long Qing’er looked at Ye Wenxin’s eager eyes and felt quite relieved.
This impulsive purchase was initially driven by her own desires, but after reading it, Long Qing’er realized that the content recorded in the book was on a level she could not reach even after struggling for however many years, and that was when Ye Wenxin’s talent came to mind.
“Then I’ll really accept it.” Ye Wenxin still felt very excited. Currently, refining second-grade pills was child’s play to her, while Ling Jue was throwing tantrums. The appearance of this book undoubtedly gave her the opportunity to explore a higher and broader world of alchemy.
“Take it.” Long Qing’er handed the book over, and Ye Wenxin skillfully caressed the cover, absorbing the inherited formulas into her mind.
Immediately, various pill formulas emerged in her mind.
Some of the names were the same, but the production methods were completely different. There were even some strange pills, including rare poison pills and pills that induced feigned death, all recorded here.
This manual was much more bizarre than Ling Jue’s ancient manual, and it was probably for this reason that Long Qing’er only gave her the first half.
“Senior Sister Long, I’m really grateful to you.” Ye Wenxin was already pleasantly surprised by these pills. She happily thanked Long Qing’er, only to realize that Long Qing’er had fallen asleep at some point.
Checking the time, Ye Wenxin noticed that an hour had passed since she read the contents of the inheritance book.
Long Qing’er remained in a graceful posture, as if in a painting. Reflecting on her earlier misunderstanding, Ye Wenxin sincerely felt she had been paranoid.
It was embarrassing, yet amusing at the same time.
She remained in a sitting position for a few seconds, lost in thought. Eventually, she gently laid Long Qing’er down on the bed and covered her with a quilt.
“You’ve given me such a great opportunity, I should repay you properly.” Making sure that Long Qing’er was truly asleep, Ye Wenxin began to worry about how to repay this favor.
“Right, I’ll give you a clone. If you ever find yourself in a life-threatening situation in the future, my clone will come to your aid.” Quickly, Ye Wenxin figured out how to repay this kindness. She pricked her finger, dabbed a drop of blood on Long Qing’er’s forehead, and then infused it with Qi.
As the Qi gathered, the blood transformed into the shape of a flower. Ye Wenxin’s face instantly turned pale, as she had infused more Qi than her body could handle.
After a moment, the flower on Long Qing’er’s forehead vanished, and a wave of exhaustion swept over Ye Wenxin. She closed her eyes and quickly fell into a dreamless sleep for the rest of the night…
When morning came, despite Long Qing’er’s calls, Ye Wenxin showed no signs of getting up.
Yesterday marked her first time using the clone ability. If future Long Qing’er were to face a life-threatening situation, it would automatically trigger the clone, which was equivalent to Demon Lord Gu Qingcheng, and its destructive force was considerable.
However, if possible, Ye Wenxin hoped that Long Qing’er would never trigger this clone ability in her lifetime.
“Wenxin, get up and go to class! If you don’t go back soon, people might think I did something to you!” In the early morning, news of Long Qing’er hosting an outer disciple for the night had spread throughout the entire Azure Wings Sect. While Long Qing’er was not afraid of these scandalous rumors, she was currently in a critical period and was worried that they might affect the Immortal Sect Grand Tournament in six months.
After all, in six months, the Immortal Sect Grand Tournament would determine who would be leader of the immortal sects for the new year, and Long Qing’er’s aunt Long Qingyue would also be there.
If Long Qingyue caught wind of Ye Wenxin’s existence, she would completely wipe Ye Wenxin off the face of the world.
So, Long Qing’er dared not to get too close to Ye Wenxin. But this girl named Ye Wenxin gave her an overwhelming sense of affability, making her struggle with her decision to get closer every time.
“No, let me sleep a little longer,” Ye Wenxin rolled over again, ignoring Long Qing’er’s urgency. Exhausted from expending too much Qi yesterday, Ye Wenxin truly had no strength to get up. Besides, she did not care about the opinions of those outer disciples who had spread her notoriety far and wide.
“Xiao Zhang, take Wenxin to class.” Long Qing’er was helpless but reluctant to use force against Ye Wenxin, so she called out someone’s name, and a woman dressed in black shadow garb appeared.
She had a graceful figure. Although only her eyes were visible under the mask, it was evident that she was of remarkable beauty.
“As you wish.” The woman called Xiao Zhang stepped forward and lifted Ye Wenxin from the bed.
When Ye Wenxin regained consciousness again, she found herself lying in her dorm room.
“I expected no less from you, falling asleep right after class.” Baili Mu was startled to see Ye Wenxin in the room, and her words confused Ye Wenxin.
She had been brought back to the dorm room by that Xiao Zhang woman and had been sleeping there the whole time. It was impossible for her to have attended class.
“Are you well, Big Sister? You’ve been acting strange all morning,” The guys also shared Baili Mu’s shock, looking at Ye Wenxin as if she was some alien.
“I’m fine. What happened?” Ye Wenxin was even more bewildered, listening to Fatty recount this morning’s bizarre events.
“Big Sister, could you have been possessed? This morning, not only were you respectful to that old fart, but you even participated in training.” Fatty narrated this morning’s inexplicable scene, leaving Ye Wenxin feeling even more uneasy as she had no recollection of what had transpired.
“No, I just think it’s not good to provoke the old fart’s anger every day. Come on, let’s go eat…” Ye Wenxin smiled, changing the subject, but she was still very bewildered.
But when Ye Wenxin arrived at the dining hall and saw someone who looked like herself in the distance, chatting happily with a group of unfamiliar outer disciples, she began to understand what was going on.
There was no need to guess, Xiao Zhang must have failed to wake her up that morning, so she disguised herself as Ye Wenxin to attend class.
And it seemed that Xiao Zhang had also noticed Ye Wenxin, as she exchanged greetings with a few people and then disappeared around a corner.
“I suddenly remembered something, you guys go ahead and eat,” Ye Wenxin immediately bid farewell to her companions and headed towards the direction where Xiao Zhang had disappeared, but she did not see the impersonator anywhere.
Even more eerie was when she stood at the doorway, the outer disciples who usually disliked her actually greeted her proactively, leaving Ye Wenxin even more impressed by this Xiao Zhang’s skills.
Unfortunately, Xiao Zhang was not under Ye Wenxin’s command. Otherwise, her talent for disguise and her sociability would have been extremely helpful to Ye Wenxin.
Ye Wenxin felt somewhat emotional. Just then, a woman approached. Despite her unfamiliar face, there was something about her eyes that made Ye Wenxin feel a hint of familiarity.
“Xiao Zhang?”
A flicker of surprise flashed in the female disciple’s eyes, betraying this woman’s true identity. But what surprised Ye Wenxin even more was that Xiao Zhang’s disguise skill had reached such a versatile level that she could not detect any flaws.
Concealing her greed, Ye Wenxin’s mind raced as she thought about how to recruit this Xiao Zhang for her own purposes.
