Chapter 804: Perplexing Behavior

Su Yu was amused by the children, “Don’t let your mommy hear these suspicions, or she might get upset.”

He knew that Wang Jinhe was straightforward—if she said something, it was true; if not, it wasn’t.

“Since Mommy isn’t here, Daddy, what do you think Mommy will cook for us?” Xiao Bao curiously asked.

“Definitely dishes we love,” Xiao Zhi confidently affirmed.

Every time Mommy cooked for them, it was always their favorite dishes.

Shaking his head, Su Yu said, “You are both smart. Go on, take your younger siblings to play for a while.”

“Okay.”

Seeing the father and sons so joyful, Su Yanchen suddenly stood up from the ground, looking puzzled and confused, as if wondering why he could suddenly see more.

He looked down at his small hands, furrowing his little brows in thought.

The three of them were visibly befuddled for a moment, then found it slightly amusing to see him frown so seriously, wondering if he was startled by something.

“Come here, Yanchen,” Su Yu called out, not moving towards him, watching as Su Yanchen stood up and then happily crawled over to him on all fours.

Su Yanchen hurried over upon seeing his brother’s actions.

Su Yu looked at Su Yanchen in disbelief. He was hoping to see if his son could walk, but instead, he was treated to this display?

Xiao Bao and Xiao Zhi chuckled secretly.

Su Yu must have thought his son was about to walk. Instead, his son crawled over, which was truly amusing.

Turning to glance at his chuckling sons, Su Yu asked with a half-smile, “Amusing?”

The two quickly shook their heads, “Not… not funny.”

Carrying one child in each arm, Su Yu took them to the play area, plopping down ungracefully on the mat to join in their play.

Seeing their father sit down, Xiao Bao and Xiao Zhi joined in, reaching over to play with their younger siblings.

After a while, they caught a whiff of a delicious scent.

Yanxi turned to the door, announcing, “Food.”

“Mommy.” Yanchen also looked towards the door, as if indicating that Mommy had made something delicious.

Xiao Bao playfully pinched Yanxi’s cheek, “Yanxi’s nose is really sensitive.”

“It’s mainly because your mom’s cooking smells so good,” Su Yu remarked.

The aroma wafted from afar, and since the children loved to eat, if they couldn’t smell it, they might have to seek help from Wan Gu and the others to entice the kids.

“Daddy’s right, Mommy is amazing. She can turn such simple dishes into delicious treats,” Xiao Bao praised, showering Wang Jinhe with compliments.

Arriving at the doorway, Wang Jinhe overheard the trio praising her cooking.

“You noticed even before I arrived? Go wash up and get ready to eat,” she said.

While Su Yu led the children to wash up, Wang Jinhe set the table, and Qiu Yi, who helped her bring out the food, returned to the kitchen to eat.

Su Yu and Wang Jinhe each held a child, feeding them while eating themselves.

During their mischievous moments, the children wanted to grab everything themselves, making a mess everywhere.

Especially during mealtime, if others tried to feed them, they insisted on doing it themselves, even though the youngest, Yanxi, didn’t know how to use a spoon.

Yanxi stared fixedly at the colorful noodles in his bowl. Wang Jinhe playfully teased him with two noodles, and wherever she moved them, Yanxi’s gaze followed, leaving Wang Jinhe amused and bemused, “Look at our little foodie daughter, her eyes are glued to the noodles.”

“Yanxi is young, and you made the noodles so appealing. She must love them,” Su Yu remarked. Despite starting as plain noodles, Wang Jinhe added various vegetable juices to give them vibrant colors, making them visually appetizing.

Moreover, the two children were at an age where they were naturally curious about colors, making them even more fond of the vibrant dishes.

Just as Wang Jinhe was about to say something, she saw Yanxi grab her hand with one hand while using the other to scoop up noodles and stuff them into her mouth.

Watching Yanxi’s chubby cheeks puff up as she devoured the noodles, Wang Jinhe couldn’t help but feel a bit helpless.

“Every time I see Yanxi eat like this, I start to wonder if I haven’t fed her enough.” If she had truly fed Yanxi enough, would she eat so voraciously?

Su Yu, observing his daughter’s hearty appetite and his son’s delicate eating, shared Wang Jinhe’s sense of helplessness.

“Wife, have you noticed how our son and daughter seem to have swapped personalities?” Sometimes he felt like their son was more like a daughter, and their daughter was more like a son.

Wang Jinhe fell silent, looking at the two children with a slightly worried expression. “Husband, it’s not just you who thinks this way. I’ve also wondered multiple times if these two children have had their personalities mixed up.”

While teaching Xiao Bao martial arts and academics together with Su Yu, Yanxi would be enthusiastically dancing around, visibly excited. On the other hand, Yanchen would be struggling to keep his eyes open.

During activities like playing musical instruments or painting, Yanchen would watch intently, while Yanxi would start dozing off.

She even pondered whether, in the future, Yanxi would follow Su Yu in martial arts training. The thought of having a daughter with exceptional martial skills made Wang Jinhe somewhat anxious.

“Mommy, I think it’s fine the way brother and sister are,” Xiao Bao spoke up.

“Even if sister doesn’t like music and art, she’ll still need to understand them. It’s okay if she focuses on calculations and martial arts later. If brother enjoys music and art, let him pursue that. With me and brother around, we’ll protect them. Right, brother?”Xiao Bao turned to Xiao Zhi for confirmation.

Xiao Zhi nodded earnestly, “Mommy, we can take care of our younger siblings. Don’t worry too much.”

Wang Jinhe hesitated for a moment, as if she wasn’t truly worried about that.

“Alright, we’ll entrust the protection of your younger siblings to you.” Even though she believed her daughter might not need protection in the future, she couldn’t dismiss the children’s protective instincts.

“No problem, we’ve got it covered.”

Wang Jinhe decided, “I’ll find suitable things for them to learn as they grow older.” If her daughter enjoyed martial arts, she saw no issue with her mastering those skills.

As for her son, he could pursue his interests, but martial arts training was non-negotiable. Perhaps she could find a unique weapon for him to make the training more appealing.

In the end, she reiterated to Xiao Zhi  and Xiao Bao that they would be responsible for protecting their younger siblings and entrusted them with this task.

“Eat.” After finishing his noodles, Su Yanchen noticed Su Yu’s lack of movement and tugged on his hair, giving it a painful yank.

That tug did hurt quite a bit.

“We called your sister a little foodie earlier, but now you, as a big brother, seem quite the food enthusiast yourself,” Su Yu remarked as he fed Su Yanchen some noodles.

After their meal, with Xiao Bao and Xiao Zhi also finishing their food, the two took the younger ones to play with toys, allowing Wang Jinhe and Su Yu to enjoy their meal in peace.
