Su Yu was naturally outstanding, with high standards in judging others. Every time they sparred or learned from him, earning his praise was indeed a challenging task.
Wang Jinhe looked at Su Yu in surprise and asked curiously, “Are you really that strict with them?”
“Being a bit strict is necessary.” These guys were quite mischievous.
At first, they were hard to control. Wasn’t it necessary to strike them hard to prevent them from getting too big for their boots and thinking they were invincible?
Isn’t it better now?
Upon hearing Su Yu’s words, Nan Qiao and the others chuckled, scratching their heads sheepishly.
Initially, they didn’t respect Su Yu much, thinking he wasn’t that great. Why should they have to treat him with respect just because he was older?
It wasn’t until later that they learned the meaning of being proven wrong and facing the truth.
Brother Yu was truly amazing, seeming to excel in everything he did.
They quickly grasped what Su Yu excelled at and even understood things they were not adept at. When they competed in areas unfamiliar to both parties, Su Yu still emerged victorious.
Ultimately, they were completely convinced by Su Yu and were willing to heed his words.
Listening to Nan Qiao and the others recounting past events, Wang Jinhe couldn’t help but chuckle, “Didn’t you know he has an eidetic memory and can learn things just by looking at them?”
What were these children thinking? Competing with Su Yu, who had come back with more knowledge after his rebirth.
They truly were bold and fearless.
Bai Qi frowned unhappily, “We didn’t know at the time; we only realized it later. It was then that we truly understood our defeat wasn’t unjust.”
“Thinking about the range of things Brother Su Yu reads makes my head ache, but he seems to enjoy it.” Nan Qiao’s expression was a mix of annoyance when recalling Su Yu’s reading habits.
“He does have a wide range of reading material.”
“Sister-in-law, you don’t know he’s a freak. In Forget Sorrow City, many of us competed with him, and everyone who faced him lost, even Boss Chen.” Nan Qiao regarded Su Yu as a formidable force.
Wang Jinhe couldn’t help but laugh, “It’s natural for someone with an eidetic memory to be like that.”
“In the future, don’t compare yourselves to him in these aspects.”
Nan Qiao solemnly nodded, “Even if you don’t mention it, Sister-in-law, we won’t think about competing with Brother Yu in those areas. It’s not worthwhile to pursue something that’s so challenging and unrewarding.”
They weren’t foolish; what was the point of seeking trouble willingly?
Wang Jinhe shook her head slightly, wondering if that was her intention.
Regardless of Wang Jinhe’s intentions, Nan Qiao and the others had no desire to engage in any more comparisons with Su Yu.
“Amidst all the distractions from your comparisons, I almost forgot to ask you, when will Gu Yanqi wake up? With things unsettled in the Gu family, especially between Gu Sheng and Gu Xiruo,” Wang Jinhe inquired.
“Gu Yanqi’s situation isn’t critical; it’s just taking some time to detoxify. As for the assassins sent by Gu Xiruo, we have some leads on them,” Nan Qiao coughed lightly, realizing he had forgotten to mention this to Wang Jinhe.
Su Yu briefly inquired about the situation and chose not to delve further.
“What’s the deal with those assassins?” Su Yu asked Nan Qiao.
“You know where those assassins come from, Brother Yu.”
“I do?”
“Yes, those assassins are all from the Wangjiang Tower, but they are all third-rate, not worthy of attention,” Nan Qiao looked down on the people from the Wangjiang Tower.
Apart from the few elite assassins, the rest were considered trash.
It was strange how the Wangjiang Tower handled their business, with peculiar rules. Gu Xiruo managing to enlist their help was quite surprising.
Su Yu, with a pensive expression, quickly grasped Nan Qiao’s meaning with just a moment of thought.
“Are you suggesting that Gu Xiruo is connected to the Wangjiang Tower?” Wang Jinhe listened to their conversation, feeling a bit puzzled.
Su Yu explained to Wang Jinhe, “The Wangjiang Tower is a place that specializes in hiring assassins. However, they operate with some principles, unlike the ruthless assassins. Noble families usually can’t afford to hire them.”
Wang Jinhe furrowed her brow slightly after hearing this.
“How is Gu Xiruo involved with so many people?” Wang Jinhe couldn’t quite comprehend.
It seemed like Gu Xiruo had entangled herself with various individuals.
How many secrets was Gu Xiruo hiding in places they were unaware of?
“Gu Xiruo’s network is indeed extensive, capable of ensnaring individuals from various backgrounds,” and these individuals seemed to hold some level of status.
Su Yu nodded in agreement, “You’re right. Gu Xiruo’s actions do raise some suspicions, and her network of connections is quite surprising.”
One or two surprises were understandable, but multiple surprises were concerning.
For a lady from a secluded background, even with assistance, she shouldn’t have ties to an assassin organization. Yet, Gu Xiruo seemed to have a decent relationship with Jiang Wang.
“Wang Jinhe, I’ll have someone look into Gu Xiruo’s situation for you,” Su Yu reassured her.
“Don’t worry, I’ll have this matter investigated later. You don’t need to be overly concerned,” Su Yu comforted her.
Without further words from Wang Jinhe, it was clear that her concerns were more than just pretense. She didn’t want any unexpected variables to arise later on.
“Rest assured, I’ll have the information delivered to you promptly.”
“What information?” Su Yu’s voice was accompanied by the sound of Lou Manqing’s voice from outside.
Upon hearing Lou Manqing’s voice, Wang Jinhe couldn’t help but smile, “Timing couldn’t be better. Just when we needed someone, you appear.”
“Indeed, better early than late,” Su Yu nodded in agreement, acknowledging that Lou Manqing’s timely arrival was beneficial.
Lou Manqing raised an eyebrow as he looked at them, “It seems like my help is needed, Sister-in-law?”
As his parents mentioned that his Sister-in-law’s help in finding him a suitable wife was a debt of gratitude, he was obligated to assist her whenever needed.
“Now that you’re here, we do need your help to investigate something,” Wang Jinhe confirmed.
“What are we investigating?” Lou Manqing suddenly became interested. Could there be some news that even Su Yu was unaware of?
“The relationship between Jiang Wang and Gu Xiruo.”
The single sentence caused Lou Manqing, who had just taken a sip of tea, to nearly spurt it out.
After wiping the water from his mouth, Lou Manqing looked at Su Yu in astonishment, “Are you saying Gu Xiruo has a connection with Jiang Wang?”
Su Yu nodded with a smile, “That’s indeed our suspicion.”
“My goodness, how many men is this woman involved with?” Lou Manqing wondered aloud. He already knew of several, and now there was Jiang Wang added to the list.
