In the early hours of the morning, Shi Sheng slept comfortably.
When Lu Lin woke up and turned off the alarm, he saw Shi Sheng nestled against his arm, his face slightly red, indicating that his allergies had improved.
Shi Sheng always slept curled up, as if lacking a sense of security, so Lu Lin had to carefully prop up his head with one hand and gingerly get up, rubbing his sore arm.
After hurriedly washing up, he left.
Breakfast started at 7:30, and Lu Lin brought a tray of steamed buns back to the dorm. Then he went out again and returned after nearly eleven. The steamed buns on the table had cooled down, but Shi Sheng was still asleep.
Light filtered through the cracks in the curtains, swaying gently as the wind blew, casting a flickering shadow. His sleeping face looked very peaceful. The indoor air was a bit stuffy, and if Shi Sheng’s breathing hadn’t been steady, Lu Lin might have suspected something had happened to him by now.
He hesitated, then leaned down and gently kissed him.
“Mmm…” Shi Sheng suddenly shook awake, squinting to see him. “Did you shave?”
“…..”
Shi Sheng closed his eyes again and tugged the blanket, then went back to sleep.
Lu Lin quietly opened Netease Cloud Music, playing the song “Let’s Eat” on a loop for nineteen seconds.
“After waiting for mealtime~ Let’s eat, it’s time to eat~”
After a while, Shi Sheng suddenly jumped up from the bed in a frenzy, rubbing his hair, which was as messy as a chicken’s nest. Seeing this, Lu Lin laughed and reached out to rub his head, pulling him up.
“It’s already eleven, you haven’t had breakfast yet, go eat lunch.”
He looked puzzled. “It’s already this late?”
“Yeah.”
“Oh no, there’s a vocal test tonight, and I haven’t prepared.” He put on a milky white long T-shirt, dragged his slippers, and half-hopped to the bathroom. Lu Lin reluctantly followed and lifted him up in a bear hug.
“What are you doing? I can do it myself!”
So in front of the mirror, the two brushed their teeth and shaved.
After Lu Lin finished shaving, he leaned in for Shi Sheng to touch.
“Not bad, it feels much better.” Shi Sheng pinched his face, a bit stiff, although not as sharp as those faces described in novels, but indeed with distinct jawlines and well-defined features.
He should be the type of tough guy that many girls would like.
“By the way, do girls pursue you?”
“I already have someone, why would I give them a chance to pursue me?” He crossed his arms by the door, touching his nose. “One on one, fair and square.”
“Is there a refund policy?”
“Small-scale operation, no refunds or exchanges.”
“Not bad,” Shi Sheng pressed his lips with his fingers, then pressed down on Lu Lin’s face. “Reward.”
Lu Lin raised an eyebrow, watching Shi Sheng prop himself against the wall and hop out again.
It seemed like the little follower was gradually approving of his performance. He smiled, touching the place on his face that had been pressed, then turned and followed him.
After lunch, Shi Sheng went to the recording room next door to work on the script, while Lu Lin took a nap on the bed.
Wu Nan er called to ask how he was doing.
“Did you always ask me before?”
“Not really, but since you lost your memory this time and haven’t recovered yet, I’m a bit worried.”
Shi Sheng held the phone and flipped through the script and notes on his laptop. “It’s not a big problem. I’ve been cramming for the past two days. If it doesn’t work out, it doesn’t matter.”
“That’s good,” he paused, “Don’t worry about Fu Xin and Zhou Hancun or anyone else. Si Yu initially decided on you.”
“Got it.”
Shi Sheng hung up.
He started practicing. He practiced hard, even if he couldn’t win against Fu Xin and the others, he still felt he owed it to Lu Lin for his “heroic rescue.”
The radio drama was called “Qingshou,” and the general plot was about the male protagonist marrying into the palace in place of his malicious step-sister, only to find out that the emperor was actually a woman. With the female being strong and the male weak, there seemed to be no way to turn the tables. Shi Sheng had read the script a day earlier, but he had never expected it to be the fourth lead.
“How exciting.”
He adjusted the sound card and cleared his throat before speaking into the script.
“Mother, how can I, a man, dress as a woman? What can I do? Moreover, why should I make up for the trouble my sister caused…”
Lu Lin opened the door and happened to hear this sentence, his expression gradually becoming puzzled.
Seeing him, Shi Sheng continued without changing the tone of his voice, “Your Majesty, why do you have the time to visit me today? Is it an honor for me alone, or do other sisters have it too?”
Lu Lin’s expression gradually cracked.
“Your Majesty!”
“Only you have it, only you,” he said helplessly, but still followed along, handing Shi Sheng a bottle of milk. “I have to go to training. Take care, Noble Consort Shi.”
Shi Sheng took off his noise-canceling headphones. “Why can’t I be the empress?”
“In that case, I hereby appoint the beloved consort as the queen.” Lu Lin handed him the milk and answered solemnly, “Here’s your decree, remember to finish it.”
“Alright, alright.”
Shi Sheng waved his hand, watching Lu Lin close the door and walk away. As soon as the door closed, he couldn’t help but laugh, while Lu Lin stood outside, shaking his head with a helpless smile.
This isn’t so bad, Shi Sheng thought to himself. Being with Lu Lin was very comfortable. Even though he had forgotten how much he used to like Lu Lin before, it seemed like he could start liking him again now.
Shi Sheng quickly recorded the audio file he needed to submit and sent it to the small group. However, he knew that this time, due to his amnesia, he couldn’t get back into that state, no matter how many times he re-recorded it, he couldn’t achieve the ideal result. He was afraid he would still have to give those two an advantage.
Not long after, Fu Xin and Zhou Hancun also sent in their files.
Shi Sheng propped his chin up with his hand, waiting for the final result.
