I Heard I Have a Boyfriend
I Heard I Have a Boyfriend chapter 18

Early the next morning, Shi Sheng went out, first to the supermarket to pick up a box of cherries. He had watched kissing tutorials all night, and the uploader said that practicing with cherries was effective, and the cherries chosen should be long-stemmed with large heads.

He searched and searched, but couldn’t find Maraschino cherries. In the end, he bought several boxes of different varieties of cherries and didn’t even need the wheelchair anymore. He hadn’t exercised much in the past few days, so he got tired after walking for a while. As he passed by a car dealership, he decided to go in and have a look around.

Before long, Lu Lin was busy in the duty room, and his phone lit up beside him. Shi Sheng had sent him a funny selfie taken in the driver’s seat, staring with wide eyes and sticking out his tongue while showing off the car key. Lu Lin chuckled slightly, saved the picture, and set it as his screensaver.

Shi Sheng placed the cherries on the passenger seat, turned the car around after getting insurance, and stepped on the gas. The purple car attracted quite a bit of attention as it drove on the road. He played music in the car and received an international call from Florence, Italy.

Speaking of which, he had a friend he hadn’t seen in so long that he was almost forgetting. Su Qi, a cool and beautiful girl, studied tourism management in college and opened her own shop after graduation.

The high-end customized travel studio has been shuttling back and forth between domestic and international destinations.

Su Qi went to Florence, as Lu Lin had told him before.

Shi Sheng put on his Bluetooth headset as he drove on the road. “So, are you coming back to China?”

“It’s because my mom heard about your accident before and canceled a lot of trips. You’ve been recovering well recently, right?” Su Qi asked loudly on the other end of the phone. “Do you want some pirated paintings from Florence?”

“Yes, yes, I want.”

Su Qi asked him, “You left me a message a few days ago saying that you and Lu Lin have made it official. I just want to ask, why didn’t you tell me when you two got together?”

“Oh, I might have forgotten back then. I still haven’t remembered that part now,” Shi Sheng shrugged, probably sensing Su Qi’s annoyance.

“Hmph,” Su Qi snorted coldly. “So, how are you two getting along now?”

Shi Sheng hmmed and started thinking.

Although there were plenty of hugs and kisses, it felt like there was a barrier between them, like something was missing. He couldn’t pinpoint it, but the problem seemed to lie with Lu Lin.

It was as if that guy was bothered by something.

“I’ve arranged for someone to find you a good doctor in the psychiatric department. I’ve sent you a WeChat message. When I come back, I’ll give you a good scolding if you haven’t sorted yourself out.”

Su Qi was always efficient and hung up the phone immediately, sending a message on WeChat. Shi Sheng raised an eyebrow at his phone and casually tossed it aside. It was a good idea to use a doctor’s treatment to regain the rest of his memory.

He opened the car’s music player and drove onto the empty road. It had been so long since he drove that he had forgotten the feel of it. He thought about how he would be able to take Lu Lin out for a spin in the future, feeling incredibly happy for a moment.

With the window down, the wind blew in, carrying a hint of fragrance. The old man’s car was unexpectedly driven like a sports car by Shi Sheng. He called Lu Lin again but it seemed he was busy and didn’t answer.

On the other end, Lu Lin received a call and responded with a few “hmms,” immediately putting on a serious expression.

“All personnel on duty at the headquarters, assemble downstairs!”

“The current incident is classified as a rescue mission. Someone is jumping from a high-rise building. The address is 78 Huainan Road. Dispatch vehicles…”

The people in the duty room hurriedly stood up, and Lu Lin put away his phone and headed downstairs. Most of the time, when the headquarters dispatched personnel, it was for social rescue, and incidents with potential fatalities like this were rare. The fire trucks drove out, and firefighters in rescue suits jumped onto the vehicles one by one.

“How high?”

“Sixth floor.”

“Bring the life-saving air cushion.”

The fire truck drove out, and Lu Lin also got on. At the same time, on Huainan Road, Shi Sheng saw a crowd gathered in the distance and curiously stopped the car to stick his head out.

“What’s going on?”

“Someone is jumping from the building,” a vegetable vendor pointed and commented. “I don’t know what’s wrong with young people nowadays, tsk tsk.”

“I heard that this person is homosexual, and his family doesn’t approve, so he’s causing a scene by jumping off the building.”

“Wow, this must be a psychological illness. He needs to be taken to the hospital for treatment.”

Shi Sheng frowned and parked the car sideways. After getting out of the car, he walked over and looked up, seeing someone sitting by the window on the sixth floor. The police sirens wailed, and even the distant fire trucks were approaching.

He suddenly remembered that today was Lu Lin’s duty day and ran over.

As Lu Lin jumped out of the car, the firefighters had already started laying out the air cushions. He exchanged a glance with the two police officers who had also gotten out of the car, and they walked towards the building. Shi Sheng was stopped outside the cordon, and Lu Lin, as if sensing something, turned around and saw Shi Sheng in the crowd, a hint of surprise in his eyes.

Be safe, Shi Sheng mouthed, gesturing.

Lu Lin nodded and turned back into the stairwell.

“Captain, why did Shi Sheng also come?”

The firefighters behind took the rope equipment and followed, “Are you two too close?”

Lu Lin raised his hand and gave him a slap on the forehead.

They climbed to the sixth floor, where the boy’s parents were pleading by the door. As they approached, they overheard them saying:

“Finding a boyfriend and not being ashamed of it. Now look, the police and firefighters are here, the whole neighborhood knows what kind of person you are!”

“Get down now! You’re embarrassing us to death!”

The boy was thin and weak, looking like a college student in his early twenties. He was wearing a white T-shirt and was barefoot. He held onto one side of the French window, but his expression was firm.

“I want to be with him. If you don’t agree, I’ll jump from here.”

“Go ahead and jump! Wang Yiming, you’re finally showing some spine,” the father roared angrily. “We’ve raised you for so many years. We know what kind of person you are. Dare you have the guts to jump?”

As the parents continued, Lu Lin stepped forward to stop them and pulled them apart. At this moment, the person involved couldn’t handle the pressure, and it was uncertain whether he might really jump.

The police officers frowned. “Your son is about to jump off the building, and you’re still saying such things. Obviously, you’re in the wrong.”

Lu Lin nodded and looked at his colleagues beside him. “Let’s try to persuade him to come down.”

“There’s nothing that can’t be discussed. It’s not worth risking your life like this.”

“Yeah, even if your parents disagree, you’re an adult, financially independent. You can choose the life you want. There’s no need to go to such extremes.”

“Come down, you’re still young and have so much time ahead of you. Jumping off will solve nothing.”

However, the boy, Wang Yiming, remained silent. Whenever someone approached him, he moved a bit closer to the window. Seeing this, Lu Lin patted his colleague’s shoulder and quietly backed away.

On the rooftop, they secured the rope, and three or four people held onto it. Lu Lin fastened the equipment around his waist, pulled the rope, and jumped down from the rooftop, gradually descending along the wall.

Shi Sheng waited downstairs, watching Lu Lin descend. He knew Lu Lin was silently descending from the rooftop to the window on the sixth floor, just like on a training ground. The air cushion was inflated below, but it was usually only effective for heights less than five floors.

He nervously squeezed his sweat.

“Don’t worry, everything will be fine,” Lu Lin’s colleague patted his shoulder. “We’re not inexperienced.”

Suddenly, Lu Lin crouched on the windowsill, then jumped down abruptly, pushing Wang Yiming inside. Caught off guard, Wang Yiming fell backward, and the police officers and firefighters inside immediately rushed forward. However, Wang Yiming seemed determined. He struggled and suddenly threw himself out the window.

“Stop!”

With a thud, the rope on the rooftop loosened, and Lu Lin grabbed Wang Yiming and fell straight down. Shi Sheng’s pupils contracted, and he shouted as he rushed up.

“Lu Lin!”
