Shi Sheng’s work continued in an orderly manner, and Junzi Yu seemed to treat him much more politely, not much different from ordinary colleagues. Perhaps he was really stimulated by Lu Lin’s kiss.
Su Qi called on video, saying she would probably return from Florence the day after tomorrow and asked him to pick her up.
“Okay, I’ll bring a banner to welcome Su Qi, the beauty, back to the country. It must be quite domineering.”
“No, I can’t afford to lose face like that,” Su Qi rolled her eyes on the video call.
“Hahaha.”
As they were chatting, Lu Lin came back. He had been looking for a house all day, came back and lay directly on the sofa. Shi Sheng looked at him, stretched his foot over to touch his leg, and gently rubbed it a few times.
“Ah,” Lu Lin grabbed his ankle and pulled it forward without any courtesy, directly facing Su Qi on the camera.
“Oh, your boyfriend’s back.”
Lu Lin scratched the sole of Shi Sheng’s foot casually. “Is this crazy girl coming back to the country?”
“Who are you calling a crazy girl? You kidnapped my friend while I was away. I haven’t settled that score with you yet,” Su Qi raised her fist. “Hey, Shi Sheng, remember that doctor I mentioned last time, the one who works in the mental health department?”
Lu Lin’s expression stiffened.
“What doctor?”
“The expert who’s treating Shi Sheng’s amnesia, did he not tell you?”
Shi Sheng lazily leaned against Lu Lin’s shoulder, waving his hand nonchalantly. “It’s okay, I only have a little memory left, whether I remember or not doesn’t matter much.”
“It’s okay to go see him, I’ll accompany you when I come back.”
“——No need to see him.” Lu Lin’s face remained unchanged, stretching lazily. “I think you’re fine the way you are.”
Shi Sheng glanced at Lu Lin, feeling like something was off about him.
After Su Qi hung up the phone, Lu Lin pressed Shi Sheng’s head down, resting it on his lap, staring straight at him.
Feeling strange being stared at like that, Shi Sheng shuddered and finally gently covered his eyes with his hand, caressing Lu Lin downward with a serious expression.
Lu Lin swatted his hand away and sat up.
“We’ve been together for a while now.” Lu Lin glanced at him and said, “Is there anything I’ve done that made you feel you can’t do without me?”
Shi Sheng was taken aback. He thought only girls liked to ask strange questions like who would you save first if they fell into the water. How come Lu Lin was asking him this now? After thinking for a moment, he said, “Yes.”
“What?”
“When you handed me your salary card and said, ‘The money I earn, you spend,’ that’s the most beautiful thing I’ve ever heard,” Shi Sheng said, gesturing dramatically and changing his tone. “Oh, my Romeo! I can’t live without you!”
Lu Lin’s mouth twitched, and he stuffed an apple into his mouth. “Baby, time to take your medicine.”
Shi Sheng took a bite with a smile, kissed Lu Lin, and went to do the laundry without haste. Leaving behind a certain anxious guy, worrying that Shi Sheng might feel resentful after remembering everything.
Sheng finished washing the clothes and returned to the room, while Lu Lin hurried back to the command center dormitory.
The villa suddenly felt empty with the lights off. Occasionally, the barking of the neighbor’s dog could be heard, and outside, the dim streetlights illuminated the path.
Shi Sheng drew the curtains and stared at the bed, imagining a zombie from a Lin Zhengying movie suddenly popping out from underneath, its sharp black nails piercing his neck.
He shook himself suddenly, shaking his head to tell himself not to think too much.
…Sigh, the first minute without Lu Lin, and he missed him.
He sat on the bed, telling himself to enjoy the rare separation, but it felt strange not to have someone beside him. As bedtime approached, he lay there for a long time unable to sleep. Instead, he felt hungry, so he got up to look for snacks.
He found a pack of Shaqima, but when he checked the expiration date, it was expired.
Undeterred, he found a pack of peanuts, but they were also expired.
Pistachios, dried mangoes…a whole box of Three Squirrels snack gift pack. Shi Sheng rummaged through them for a while, then threw them all away, leaving only a pile of plastic bags and a diary hidden in the corners of the box, along with a pack of soy milk.
Everything else was expired.
Oh, he seemed to only remember to put snacks in there, buying a bunch every time he ate a little, forgetting about expiration dates. He wailed in agony and collapsed on the bed.
No, he missed Lu Lin. If Lu Lin were here, he would probably bring him something to eat, or take him out for a ride and have supper together. Shi Sheng took out his phone.
Blue_53: I’m hungry.
【Ten minutes later】
Red53: Back at the dorm.
Red53: Do you want me to come over and satisfy you?
Blue53: Sobs Baby, I’m really hungry. Can you conjure up something for me now? In the future, I’ll eat whichever you offer.
Red53: I’ve put boneless chicken feet in the fridge for you. Go ahead, Pikachu.
Blue53: …
Shi Sheng slapped his forehead with a “smack,” got up, and went to look for the boneless chicken feet.
In the dorm, Lu Lin took a screenshot and, not long after, Shi Sheng saw the prominent chat record screenshot in the couple’s album while he was chewing on the chicken feet, with the image captioned with two big words, “I’m waiting.”
For some reason, the chicken feet in his mouth didn’t taste good anymore.
Lu Lin quickly called him for a video call, mainly because he was afraid Shi Sheng couldn’t sleep alone. Proud Shi Sheng claimed he was enjoying the chicken feet so much and that he would sleep even faster and sounder than him.
“Oh, really,” Lu Lin’s deep voice came from the phone. “I wonder who fell asleep yesterday and started gnawing on my arm like a chicken leg, slobbering all over me. I wonder how that someone will cope tonight.”
Shi Sheng gritted his teeth. “I guarantee I’ll sleep faster and sweeter than you!”
“When my house is ready, come live with me. We can’t only see each other on weekends in the future,” Lu Lin’s voice was lazy, with a hint of tiredness. It seemed like he had rolled over in bed and then lazily said, “Miss you.”
“…,” Shi Sheng fell silent for a moment and replied, “I miss you too.”
The headphones soon fell silent, and Lu Lin fell asleep.
After Shi Sheng finished brushing his teeth and tidying up the snack box, he saw the diary again. The cover was marked with the date of this year. He casually placed it on the bedside table, planning to use it as reading material for the toilet tomorrow.
However, as soon as he lay down, he couldn’t help but open it and read.
Would he write about confessing to Lu Lin in the diary? He probably would.
He flipped through the pages until he reached his birthday. However, there weren’t many words written on it, just a few sparse records.
“The weather is clear. Today is my birthday. I ate so much that my stomach bulged like I was three months pregnant. I originally wanted to let Lu Lin sleep over, so I intentionally delayed the party until late. I let Wu Nan er and the others sleep in the guest room, so that Lu Lin might be able to sleep with me.
But why did he seem unhappy and left? I don’t understand.”
Don’t understand.
Shi Sheng frowned slowly as he looked at the passage.
Didn’t Lu Lin say he confessed to him after the birthday party? Why wasn’t it written in the diary…
