Because everything happened too quickly, by the time the others at the dining table reacted, Wen Shaohan had already strode out of the restaurant.
Fu Xi cast a quick glance up and down Tang Tian, understanding that Tang Tian hadn’t done it on purpose. After all, his sudden movement was too abrupt, and Wen Shaohan had been standing uncomfortably close—it wasn’t surprising that a collision occurred.
She instinctively rubbed her right shoulder with her left hand. Her shoulder was slender and delicate, with exposed collarbones that were snowy white and refined.
“Are you alright?”
Fu Xi rarely showed concern, but this time he did—probably because he indirectly caused her to be bumped into, and a rare flicker of sympathy surfaced.
The moment the words left his mouth, he regretted it. After all, the woman before him was the type who would climb up the ranks no matter what. If she thought he was interested in her…
Tang Tian took it as a casual question and lowered the hand that had been rubbing her right shoulder. “I’m fine, it doesn’t hurt.”
Surprise flickered in Fu Xi’s eyes as he looked her over again, puzzled.
Tang Tian pushed the chair back under the table and, when she looked up, saw Fu Xi staring at her like she was some kind of rare species.
Tang Tian: “?”
Her first reaction was to touch her face—did she have something on it?
“Mr. Fu, do you need anything else?” Her face was perfectly smooth, no abnormalities. So what was he staring at?
Fu Xi snapped out of it. Tall and sharp-featured, with a lazy air about him, he exuded an arrogant, condescending vibe.
“Nothing.” With that, he turned and left.
Tang Tian glanced after him, a puzzled expression on her face, but she didn’t make a big deal out of it.
Among these four male leads, it seemed that only Wen Shaohan’s temperament appeared relatively stable on the surface. Shen Yanli looked refined and gentle, but in reality, he was filled with a proud arrogance befitting someone in a high position.
As for Pei Jue and Fu Xi, the former was cold-faced and cold-hearted upfront, while the latter’s temperament was unpredictable—both were outstanding figures constantly surrounded by admiration.
It seemed that even within the story, Tang Tian had to keep a good distance from these male leads.
Just now, when Tang Tian accidentally bumped into Wen Shaohan, Liu Xiaozhi, Zheng Liyu, and Liu Huahua had all witnessed it. Given their “understanding” of Tang Tian and her past behavior, they all believed she did it on purpose.
For a moment, their gazes held a strange expression, convinced that she hadn’t given up and was seizing any opportunity to seduce the male leads.
Tang Tian glanced over at the three women with those odd looks, knowing they were imagining all kinds of nonsense again. She was too lazy to bother with their various speculations. After tidying up Fu Xi’s dining area, she prepared to finish work for the day.
She had just finished punching out for the day and was stretching lazily when Liu Xiaozhi hurried over to her.
Tang Tian thought Liu Xiaozhi was also about to clock out, so she stepped aside to let her pass.
“Tang Tian, Sister Wu wants you to deliver a cup of milk to Mr. Pei,” Liu Xiaozhi said. She had told Sister Wu, the manager, about the earlier incident where Tang Tian accidentally bumped into Wen Shaohan.
Sister Wu was sharp and discerning; she only trusted facts and had decided to test Tang Tian by asking her to bring milk to Mr. Pei.
Tang Tian didn’t immediately believe it but took out her phone to check. She saw that Sister Wu had indeed tagged her in the group chat, instructing her to go upstairs and deliver milk to Pei Jue.
“Alright, I’ll go,” she said without any extra reaction, heading toward the bar counter.
Liu Xiaozhi was utterly convinced Tang Tian wouldn’t pass Sister Wu’s test. She was confident that Tang Tian’s departure was imminent.
Tang Tian carried the cup of milk into the elevator, went up to the second floor, and knocked on Pei Jue’s door.
“Come in.”
The voice from inside the room was flat, cold as ice.
Tang Tian opened the door but didn’t step inside. She stood at the doorway and said, “Mr. Pei, Sister Wu asked me to bring you a cup of milk.”
She emphasized the words “Sister Wu,” implying that it wasn’t her idea to deliver the milk—she wasn’t exactly eager to do it.
Pei Jue looked up from the new project proposal on his desk and frowned coldly when he saw her at the door. He didn’t lose his temper, but his displeasure was clear.
Tang Tian just wanted to quickly place the milk on the table and leave.
Without looking around, she stepped in briefly and put the warm milk on the coffee table, deliberately avoiding placing it on his desk.
She had barely taken two steps when Pei Jue’s cold, sharp voice came from behind her.
Tang Tian turned around, puzzled as she looked at him.
Under the lighting, her large, dark, sparkling eyes seemed to hold an irresistible charm.
Pei Jue paused for a few seconds, then said sharply, “Give me the milk.”
His tone was cold and curt. Tang Tian quickly understood and walked over to the coffee table, picking up the warm milk and placing it beside the desk.
She didn’t ask any unnecessary questions like, “Is there anything else?” Instead, she politely said, “Get some rest early, Mr. Pei.”
After saying this, she immediately left the room without a second’s hesitation. Her steps were brisk, as if there were some terrifying beast right behind her.
Pei Jue glanced sideways at her retreating figure, his expression icy and indifferent. After a brief glance, he turned back to reviewing the project proposal on his desk without any change in emotion.
Once outside his door, Tang Tian carried the tray downstairs with one hand, thinking she probably wouldn’t get any more “tasks.” Finally, she could clock out and finish work for the day.
Among the four male leads, only Pei Jue had to handle the operations of the Pei Group while perfectly pursuing his music dreams. No wonder he was not only outstanding and incredibly wealthy but also blessed with good looks.
If she had been born in Rome, she would have definitely chosen to take it easy—after all, in both her past lives, her pockets were always empty. In her previous life, she had finally saved enough money to find a place to rest for a while, but who would have thought something unexpected would happen, and she would lose her life.
Tang Tian’s thoughts grew more and more disheartening, so she decided not to think too much.
She had just come downstairs when Pei Jue’s phone vibrated upstairs.
Rubbing his tired eyebrows, Pei Jue picked up his phone—it was a message from his manager.
Manager: [President Pei, did the maid from earlier bother you?]
He skimmed the message and quickly typed back.
Pei Jue: [No.]
After replying, he ignored any further messages from the manager. Clearly, he didn’t think much of the maid who had brought the milk earlier.
Tang Tian came downstairs and, in the blink of an eye, noticed two people standing by the stairway.
It was Liu Xiaozhi and Zheng Liyu.
She didn’t walk over to ask them but returned to the bar to wash the tray clean and put it into the sterilizer for disinfection.
Since Tang Tian went upstairs to deliver the milk, Liu Xiaozhi and Zheng Liyu had been waiting downstairs.
They stayed there until Tang Tian left the second floor, and they didn’t hear any angry outburst from Pei Jue. This outcome surprised both Liu Xiaozhi and Zheng Liyu.
The two glanced at Tang Tian carrying the tray back to the bar, then exchanged looks with each other…
“Xiaozhi Jie, it seems Tang Tian didn’t try to seduce Mr. Pei again. Otherwise, he wouldn’t be this calm.”
Liu Xiaozhi frowned but relaxed before Zheng Liyu looked over, saying understandingly, “Maybe it was a misunderstanding last time. It should be fine for Tang Tian to deliver fruit and milk to Mr. Pei from now on.”
“No way it was a misunderstanding! Mr. Pei doesn’t lose his temper for no reason. Tang Tian’s intentions—everyone can see through them.”
In an instant, Zheng Liyu’s attention shifted back to the previous incident, and her impression of Tang Tian once again returned to the disdainful attitude she had before.
Although Liu Xiaozhi’s face showed some discomfort, she didn’t defend Tang Tian this time. Deep down, she felt disappointed with the quiet atmosphere before them. It seemed Tang Tian had become more cautious…
Thinking about how Tang Tian’s stunning looks had caused such a stir, Liu Xiaozhi was determined to find ways to get her kicked out. She truly disliked Tang Tian’s face and her fiery figure.
In a servant’s room on the first floor, Tang Tian glanced at the clock—it was just past 9 o’clock. She took chilled cherries from the small refrigerator in her room and ate while watching a drama series.
Neither the original body nor she had many close friends, so her social media remained quiet day and night. Apparently, the original body’s social life was just the same.
Tang Tian was someone who enjoyed solitude; whether she had friends or not was not important to her.
Around 10 o’clock, after taking a shower, Tang Tian lay down on the bed. Exhausted from the whole day, she slept through the night without dreams.
